A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy? Hospitality Committee

narnian1, those pictures are pretty cool. I still think they all look too old, and i wish Peeta's hair was more golden, but i'm liking the feel i get from the two you posted.

S'okay W4J :)

I like the HG pics, Peeta looks great although it looks a little old for the scene where he burns the bread for Katniss... unless of course they make them both a little older when that happened

Hmm... It seems the The Secret of the Unicorn movie will include some elements from The Crab with the Golden Claws (no secret there) and much of the self-titled adventure. It will include very little of Red Rackham's Treasure. I'm guessing that they're setting it up as a sequel. That would explain the abscence of Professor Calculus in the cast list. On the plus-side that gives the story much more room to breathe.

@Warrior 4 Jesus: Not sure if you read the same Tintin article, but it includes some of the info you mentioned above. :)

Here is the article:

As a Belgian, someone who grew up with Tintin (or 'Kuifje' like we say). I have to say i'm disappointed by the footage i've seen of the Tintin movie, looks as bad as Beowulf. :-q

As bad a Beowulf? Boy you're harsh! :-o
I saw Beowulf, I hated it. I think Tintin looks so much better in every aspect. :)

Rilian,
Granted I'm an Aussie but I've been a huge fan of Tintin for most of my life and I'm loving what I'm seeing. I think the trailer footage looks much better than Beowulf! For one thing, they're not shooting for realistic-looking people but for humanoid-figures of Herge's characters. This is no hack-job. I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised when the movie comes out.
Also, why do you call Tintin 'Kuifje' if you're Belgian? Isn't that his name in Dutch?

7Chronicles, yes, that's one of the articles I read, not the same one though. It was an AICN article (the comments had some language so I didn't share the link). I can PM it to you, if you wish.

Herge was a master artist and that video shows his skill with a pencil!

The Weta sculpture looks amazing but I don't have that kind of money on me. I think I'll have to settle for the Art book of the movie.

I just don't like the style they're using. I think they should have done either live-action or traditional animation, not this hybrid kind of thing.
But because Weta and Peter Jackson are involved i might keep an eye on it. But the trailer hasn't convinced me at all. Perhaps future trailers, tv-spots will.

The majority of Belgians speak Dutch, we are the Flemish people. Our country is linguistically split in two, a Germanic north and Romanic south. Hergé was francophone, and lived in Brussels (our bilingual capital).

@Warrior 4 Jesus: Oh yes please PM me the link! Thanks :D
I also saw that Art Book and Wallet, those are Awesome! :)

Speaking of the motion capture in Tintin, I found this article that talks a little bit about why they chose to do Motion Capture instead of Live Action:
http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/ ... n_haddock/

Here is a quote from it:

"The idea was to create characters in a 3D animated world that look as close as they could to the characters,” added Jackson. “We also wanted to make it as much of a hybrid of animation and live action as we possibly could. Even though these characters have faces you could never find in a real human being, you still wanted to have the pores, the skin, the freckles, the sweat. We wanted it to have a texture and a detail that, while you’re never going to believe it’s live action, it almost looks like live action."

Also I have been looking through Comic Con video looking for this video of Peter Jackson described below:

"I had to make the decision to do the movie live action with a digital dog or do the [whole] movie digitally,” Spielberg told the crowd. “So I had WETA do a test. I said, show me what the digital dog looks like up against a human character, preferably a character in a costume from “Tintin.’”
What Spielberg got was an impressive test set on a dock in front of a ship featuring a digital version of Snowy the dog alongside Captain Haddock. But the surprise was exactly who was in the Captain Haddock costume. “I thought I’d just take this opportunity to put myself on film for the role of Captain Haddock,” says Peter Jackson in Haddock garb. “It’s been my dream to play this part for a long time. I’ve got the costume, the props. I think I’d make a wonderful Captain Haddock for your movie.” Meanwhile, as Jackson auditions, Snowy bounces around trying to steal the show. “It’s my turn,” Jackson tells the dog. A moment later the dog laps up an overturned beer and starts staggering around the dock before ultimately falling off. “Swim! Can’t you dog pedal?” Jackson asks Snowy before diving in after him.

If any one can find it please let me know! :)

Rilian, that's interesting. I always thought the majority of Belgians were French with only some being Flemish. Thanks for clearing that one up. As for the motion-capture look, 7Chronicles explains it well why they chose to go that route.

7Chronicles, no worries, mate. Actually the only possibly offense parts are the comments section of the article so I'll just give a warning and post it here. WARNING: Article comments may contain some strong language.

I'm sure I posted this here already... and if not I know I did in the Comic-Con thread... But they at least have a script in the works for Jurassic Park 4! -> Which excites me greatly...

At Comic-Con Spielberg and Jackson were talking about Tintin... and they made a little mention of The Hobbit and JP4

http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2011/07/ ... _news_blog

I've decided I'm going to see The Hobbit, even if I don't get the book read ahead of time (though I just bought it and tLotR so I will hopefully start on those soon!) But I may have to wait until it's out on dvd... due to college and finances. Then again I know my friend will see it so I might go to the theater with her.

As for Jurassic Park 4 (if they ever do finish it) then I will find some way to see it in theaters (as long as they don't ruin it with that stupid hybrid army idea I'd be happier if the green mist suddenly popped up there as well.)

Yeah... I'm excited and nervous :P 8-}

Anne Hathaway looks amazing. I've seen complaints about her costume not being up to par with the Catwoman persona. Considering all you can see are her shoulders, I think it's a great first look. It makes you wonder when and where this scene takes place and how she ended up on the Bat-Pod.

I like the pic of Henry Cavill as Superman.
I've not been a fan of the character since I was a kid in the 90s watching The Adventures of Louis and Clark. However I am looking forward to this one, if just for Nolan's involvement- even if it's not as director.

Hathaway as Catwoman,
I saw another pic from a different angle. The only thing I don't like is those shades. I didn't expect Nolan to have her with the cat mask, but I still hoped for a little different than this. However, I'm sure I'll feel different when I see her in action.

I suspect that's not the final Catwoman outfit. But I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how she gets her paws (hee!) on the Batpod.

Honestly, the only nice thing I have to say about the Superman costume is that they got the colors right. The texture just irritates me. Not entirely sure why costumes have to all be textured now and the S looks especially silly.
