Bah...the Silver Surfer could take her on in a one-on-one surfing contest. That's that power galactic for ya'

Yeah but see the thing is, Bethany Hamilton became a pro surfer with only one arm. That's the power of God for ya.
I remember when her story first came out in the newspapers. I'll definitely be going to see this movie. (Plus I'm a big fan of AnnaSophia Robb.)
P.S."Brooklyn!"
I finally checked the trailer for Soul Surfer, I guess I'll be skipping it. It looks so blah to me. I like Anna Sophia Robb in the few movies I've seen her but this one just doesn't do anything for me.
Thanks, Brisa, for posting that link. I actually kind of like a blonde Josh Hutcherson for Peeta, but he looks a little young for Jennifer Lawrence.
I do not at all like the look they're going for with Gale. None of those actors looks the way I imagined him at all. I saw Gale as sort of a Doon from City of Ember or even Skandar type person.
Edit: Thoughts on the casting of Amy Adams as Lois Lane? I think it's a rather unconventional casting.
Amy Adams has been cast as Lois Lane in Superman.

I'm reconciled to the idea of Hutcherson as Peeta. He has that baby face and he seems to have a sweet personality. I haven't seen him in Bridge to Terebithia, but it seems like that role would be a good precursor to Peeta. Sure, he's a bit young, but I'm sure they'll make it work. As for Liam Hemsworth... well, I guess I'll wait until I see the movie. He just seems so old.
Josh Hutcherson - I'm actually kinda happy about this one. I don't like predicting how well someone will do based on what i've seen them in before, but from what i've seen of Josh, i'm pretty pleased with his acting, and he definitely has the right look (even with the dark hair).
Liam Hemsworth - I haven't seen him in anything, so no opinions there. He does look very old for the role, but i could see Gale being one of those people who looks older than he really is. So, maybe.
And, yeah, they got two blonds playing the dark-haired characters and a dark-haired guy playing the blond guy. Still, there are such things as wigs and hair dye ...

I like Josh in Terabithia and Journey, a lot. But I don't like him much fore Peeta. Yet. I'll hold final judgment til I see the movie.
Gale's actor, saw him in The Last Song and thought he was fine. I don't have much to say though.
I generally can't stand Josh, but he was very good in The Kids Are All Right, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Can't say anything about Liam, as I haven't seen him in anything yet.
I have to say I was pretty disappointed when I first heard the news. It just seems like they're going for name casting, and not for actual talent. I'd be interested to see what Suzanne Collins has to say about this casting.
I've calmed down a bit, though. I've never seen anything of Josh's, but apparently he got very good reviews in The Kids Are All Right. And while he doesn't really look like Peeta, I suppose once he gets his hair fixed, he won't be so far off. It worries me that he's so much younger than Jennifer Lawrence, though. He's got to be one mature actor if he's going to be able to cover the difference.
Liam; I've not nothing to say. To be fair, The Last Song isn't exactly the best material to judge an actor's abilities on, but anyway. Initially I thought he was pretty young but I guess not...I don't really care if he looks old. Isn't there some line in THG that talks about how Gale was six feet tall by the time he was 14 or something?
I guess we'll have to wait and see. Definitely not encouraged by these developments, but I'm not throwing in the towel yet. But I swear, if they say that they've cast someone like Willow Smith for Rue, I will start throwing things.
I'm ambivalent on casting Josh for Peeta. He's apparently an okay-ish actor from all I've heard. I thought he was average in what I've seen him in. Maybe he'll surprise us. But Liam Hemsworth? Seriously? I guess there's always the chance he'll summon up previously unseen acting talent and be good in the role.
I'm actually really happy with the casting! I have always been a hufe Josh fan- he is able to pull great emotion into his roles, his crying scenes are great in moies such as Terebithia and Journey, so I can't wait to see him as the role
Liam I saw in The Last Song and I think he could pull off the tough guy attitude, I'm very excited for him!
