Unfortunately, Val, the last I heard there was not yet an American distributor for Glorious 39. Until they find one, no release date will be announced. I hope it doesn't end up going straight to DVD over here, because it looks like it would be lovely on the big screen! :)

I'm looking forward to Toy Story 3 as well. At first I was sort of against the whole Andy-goes-off-to-college-and-donates-toys-to-daycare idea, as it seems so different from the first two, but now I think about it, it makes sense; after all, many of us who were children when the first movie came out are now at or nearing adulthood too. I am still unsure that he would send Woody and Buzz to the daycare along with the others ... they seem to be those kinds of beloved childhood toys that one would keep around for nostalgia's sake, or even for one's own children. (This is especially true of Woody, who Andy's mother describes as "an old family toy" in Toy Story 2.)

He doesn't send Woody to the daycare; Andy meant to take Woody to college with him. This is not really explained in the trailer, but was shown in an extended sneak preview that made the rounds at various Cons this year.

Spoiler
Andy's packing up for college, and his mom asks him what he's going to do with his stuff. She asks him to pack up whatever he wants to save in a bag/box to go up to the attic, and put the rest out in a trash bag. Andy looks at Woody and Buzz for awhile, before putting Buzz with the rest of the toys and puts Woody on his desk to take with him. He means to put the toys in the attic, but some how there is a misunderstanding and the bag of toys gets thrown out in the trash, with Woody watching helplessly. Somehow the toys manage to get from the trash to a daycare; not sure how it happens.

If you watch the trailer, you'll see Andy deciding between Buzz and Woody and then Woody standing in a toy-empty room all by himself.

Warrior, you're correct. Thriller/drama is a much better word. Thanks.

checkers, I agree with your spoiler comments. I suspect they're fleshing out the original story with the family-related "B" plotline.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Hulu has the trailer for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus up for viewing.

Reminded me of Faust almost, only less dark with more whimsy. ;)) I'm interested in seeing it after all the hype that's gone on over it, adding in the fact that it is Heath Ledger's final performance. Plus it looks to be an interesting story. :)

It's been rated PG-13 "for violent images, some sensuality, language and smoking" for anyone interested.

Not sure what you mean by "B" plotline. You think it's a bad idea? *is confused*

Sorry for the ambiguity. A "B" plot is just a subplot added to the main (or "A") plot to add interest, length, etc. They are quite common in movies and TV episodes.

Ah. I see. I thought you meant it was gonna be a "B" movie or something. Pardon my misunderstanding. L-)

The Secret of Kells is an Irish animated movie. I don't know much about it but it looks good (and the art itself is very distinctive).

Here's the trailer:

Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11

I recall seeing images from the ancient Book of Kells in a long-ago art history class. It was pretty cool. I may check out that movie just for fun.

Another one I'll probably see is 2012; there's just something about seeing the whole world end. It seems these disaster/apocalypse films are popular when times seem bad - perhaps so we can say, "My life isn't so bad after all; I could be stuck in (fill in the blank)." ;)

But I'll have to resist the temptation, afterwards, to rant about its 'science.' I saw a new ad for it today, which claims that "science backs up" the Mayan 2012 date, with a visual of a picture-perfect planetary lineup. Sorry, not gonna happen. ;) Astronomy, in fact, does not support this date, as I mentioned here in a slightly different context.[/rant]

I watched the trailer for Glorious 39 the other day. It looks good and the cast is just amazing. How can they do all of them justice? I'm not sure I totally understand what the movie is actually about, but ti still looks good. :)

The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus does look good name twin. And it certainly seems similar to Faust, but with quite a fanciful flair. I wonder why Heath Ledger's, Depp's, Farrel's, and Law's characters all look so similar.

Kate, the reason why the characters played by the 4 actors look the same is because they are actually all playing the same character, Tony. Originally Ledger was the only one cast to play Tony, but he died during filming, so in order to finish the movie the script had to be adjusted and the character had to be recast.

Spoiler
In the final version of the film, every time Tony enters the Imaginarium, he is played by a different actor, and when he is in our world, he is always played by Ledger.

The trailers for Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, now two of my most anticipated films of 2010 having seen these trailers, have just been recently released.

Clash of the Titans:

(You can just catch of glimpse of Liam Neeson as Zeus right around the 35 second mark.) Looks to me to be somewhat of a mix between Lord of the Rings and 300, of course focused on mythological ancient Greece.

Prince of Persia:

Both films look like they will be great fun. Also, just a disclaimer, both trailers contain quite a bit of violence and what some may consider to be scary images. :)
