I'm not entirely sanguine about The Eagle if it's going to make the Romans look like the good guys, and the Celts/Scots look like "blue flea bitten savages" X( (as paraphrased from Avatar). It really depends how it plays out for me. I'm not big on movies that make Conquerers into heroes and the Conquered into the bad guys.

I was extremely skeptical of the X-Men First Class movie and still am a bit, but this trailer does look awesome.

From anything I've seen thus far, I think X-men First Class will be pretty good. I've been waiting a long time for a film depicting Xavier and Magneto's early lives.

I wasn't interested in the movie and the snippets I'd heard turned me right off but that trailer was exceptional. If the movie is that good, I'd be very pleased and impressed.

Another movie that looks interesting is I Am Number Four. I've seen the trailers and I'd like to see it.

It's the story of nine people who have special powers hidden all over the world. They are being hunted down and killed one by one in order. The first three have been killed already. The main character is number four who is trying to escape death.

I was interested in that one too until I read the book it's based upon. Honestly, I think it's worse than Twilight. Might make for a good popcorn movie, but it's more likely to be one of those films that ends up on the 5 dollar rack at Wal-Mart after a year. That and I'd rather not support the co-author of the novel who maintains a literary sweatshop of sorts.

I am so happy to finally have a trailer for that X-Men movie. I hoped it were of the original class as with the comics, but I can go for this just fine- Beast is in it. Cyclops isn't but Havok is- so at least we get a Summers guy. :)

Looks great. :)

I agree that the I Am Number Four movie looks kinda cheesy, Booky, but I'll probably catch it on dvd just cause Alex Pettyfer is in it. Yea, I know, I'm a fangurl--such a pathetic excuse for a moderator. ;)

Same with the "Beastly" movie that's coming out soon--looks like they completely butchered the book (Vanessa Hudgens? Really?), but besides the fact that Alex is in it, I actually pictured his character in the book exactly like him! Which makes that probably the only time the person who I want to be cast actually does. :P

Valiant_Lucy, I completely agree about Beastly looking so differnent! I would never imagine Vanessa Hudgens as the part she is (I feel so bad I cant remember her part's name and my friend has my copy of the book) but I still will see the movie- I really hope I dont hate it

Bookwyrm, in what way is that worse than Twilight? Just the little premise Narnian_at_heart gave sounded much, much better than Twilight. Is it really badly written, unoriginal fan-fiction type fiction? :P

EDIT: Now I've watched the trailer and it looks a little silly but also very entertaining (which is more than can be said about Twilight).

The premise is pretty decent. It's the actual book that's terrible. Less than two-dimensional characters, plot elements that don't really make much sense, and one of the most absurd "romances" I've come across in YA lit in a long while. Of course they might have corrected those things in the film.

Oh, okay. Thanks mate. Hopefully the movie rectifys those problems. While watching the trailer, I thought the girl the guy meets would turn out to be one of those hunting him down. Possible? Yes.

The Female Characters:

Spoiler
There's two female characters. One is the love interest. She's not very interesting. The other is Number 6, who is actually kinda cool. Unlike Number 4 who mainly wanders around complaining and angsting, she's pretty hardcore and can actually fight.

Is it just me? Or does I Am Number 4 basically seem to be a cross between X-men and Jumper? ;)

(Not that there's anything wrong with that. I actually liked Jumper *dodges rotten tomatoes*).

Gandalfs Beard,

I never was reminded of X-Men but I can actually see your mention of Jumper, because well.... I also consider it as a similar thing to Jumper, which I also liked. Still waiting on news for Jumper 2, IMDb has the page set but it seems to be stuck. It was set for 2010, now it says 2012. :(

Other News:

After The Dark Knight Rises, Nolan plans to do his Howard Hughes biopic. He was gonna do this sooner, but then The Aviator was released. Jim Carey was originally cast. Will he want him back? Or better yet, will DiCaprio reprise his role?!

It will deal more with what happened later in his life, I guess it can be viewed as a sequel of sorts to The Aviator. I wonder how he'll do this. I'm sure he'll want to make it as different as possible from The Aviator, to make it his own, which would then rule DiCaprio out. Released date, possible 2014- to let even more time pass between it and The Aviator.
