The trailers for Cars 2 make it look really stupid, I hope it is better :(

Does anyone know anything about the movie The Witches of Oz? And is there a trailer for it yet? It comes out in a couple months, and I hear Billy Boyd and Sean Astin are in it.

The Green Hornet is an immediate pass for me, don't need it.

That movie is a travesty when compared to the original version and what was portrayed on the old time radio episodes. I've been listening to The Green Hornet since I was 9 or 10 and a comedic version is a complete 180 from what it should be. The current version getting ready to come out in theaters only resembles the original in the fact the names are the same.

I'm hoping Cars 2 will be as entertaining as the first and not try too hard to be a sequel. Pixar did the Toy Story sequels well, but they were more a continuation of the story instead of sequels.

Ithilwen, here is the trailer, courtesy of a FB friend's status. :) It looks like a lot of fun. I find it especially cool to see Boyd and Astin working beside each other again.

Woah, haven't heard of that (The Witches of Oz) yet... it looks like a good movie, although I'm not a diehard Wicked/Wizard of Oz fan and don't really know much about the plot, I'd like to see that

So I went to a Pixar exhibit yesterday. Even though they didn't have anything for Cars 2 (surprise, surprise), I feel like visually the movie will do good, the people know what they're doing, and that their movies generally do really good... I'm just not really sold on the movie yet...

Yeah, The Witches of Oz looks really good. The Wizard of Oz, although I haven't seen it much, is a really good movie, so it will be interesting to see this guy's take on things as opposed to the cult classic. Somehow, I don't think we're going to here a contemporary rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. :| Oh well. It still looks good.

Btw, have any of you heard about the film Cowboys and Aliens? I saw the trailer; I saw Harrison Ford in the trailer; I saw Daniel Craig in the trailer. Wow, this movie sounding good already. ;)) But, seriously, does anybody know about the plot or perhaps what they are adapting the plot from? I'm just really curious.

I've seen the trailer to it. While it was a western, surprisingly, the movie had me "sold". With the inclusion of the aliens it lost me entirely. I will be skipping this one.

Cowboys and Aliens is adapted from a 2006 graphic novel of the same name.
The official synopsis of the movie:

1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents – townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors – all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

I think the trailer looks really good, reminds me a bit too much of Iron Man though I think, although that's not necessarily a bad thing. My experience with the trailer is that people seem intrigued until the title card appears at the end, at which point the theater breaks into laughter. Most people I've talked to say the title turns them off from the movie, despite what they saw in the trailer.

It has a great cast though, not only headlined by Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, but also featuring a exceptional supporting cast including Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, and Paul Dano. Rockwell alone is almost enough to draw me to the theater. I'll probably end up seeing it, barring scathing reviews.

Well, dunno what to think of the C.S. Lewis movie yet. Whatever happened to the Screwtape Letters adaptation that was first planned to be released 2 years ago ;) ?

Might all be about CS Lewis, but what company is behind this new one? Screwtape Letters doesn't surprise me it's been more difficult to make, if you've read it you know it's not gonna be easy to adapt. I've got no idea how they plan to do it honestly.

Oh yeah, isn't it all letters? That would be hard to adapt!!

So you're saying the C. S. Lewis movie might not really come out?

BTW, I myself wondered...fan-made poster?? :-

Wow, that could be cool. That is like my favorite Disney movie! I wonder if that's because we are once more going through doors into other lands... ;))

A prequel for Monsters Inc 2 sounds a lot more interesting than a sequel, however, won't that mean that Boo won't be able to be in it? (At the very least, it will be a lot harder to include her.)
