The article I read said Fantastic Four was indeed a third installment, and not just a reeboot. It even said they were even planning a fourth one.
What is the difference between a reboot and a remake? I had never heard there was a difference before, so that came as a surprise...
Well, I could be wrong then about Fantastic Four. I saw the article ages ago, they might have gone back to a sequel only, (although I hate the idea of so many reboots, I think it would be best in this case).
I'm not good in giving a definition, difference, between remake and reboot. Can someone help?King Kong, The Day the Earth Stood Still- remakes. The Incredible Hulk, reboot. Batman Begins, reboot.
I know a remake takes the original movie, and makes a new one- with an update setting or just a few changes, but primarily an "identical" movie to the first.
A reboot cans the original and starts the story fresh from the beginning. With major changes- like with Batman, we get Batman's origin in a much different way than earlier adaptations. Spider Man will be back in high school, rumors are there will be no Mary Jane though. The villain doesn't seem like it will be Green Goblin at the moment either, which cans the term "remake" in which it would still be him.
Speaking of Green Lantern, here is the trailer for the movie, looks good!
Not sure if the trailer is family friendly for everyone, so I'm mentioning it just in case.

Been waiting for this. Not sure how I feel about it now that I've seen the trailer. I will have to see more to see how I'll see it. Somethings reminded me of Iron Man and Robert Downey Jr. for some reason. Hope it doesn't try to be too much like it in humor and stuff.
1. Narnia 3: Voyage of the Dawn Treader ... nice...
.. 6. Pirates of the Caribbean 4... 3 wasn't bad enough?
8. Sherlock Holmes 2 ... cool...
9. The Hobbit... AWESOME
14. Cars 2 ... interesting...
19. National Treasure 3 ... WHAT.. the first one was alright and the second one was lame. what now?
20. The Screwtape Letters ... interesting, I wonder how they are going to do that...
23. Narnia 4: The Silver Chair ... YEEHAW!
24. Spider-Man (Remake)Weird, do you make remakes after 2 or 3 years?
28. Twilight: Breaking Dawn ...NOOOOOOO!
29. The Dark Knight Rises ... awesome lame name though
33. The Bourne Legacy, interesting, I don't see how they can do anything they haven't done yet without getting really lame though...
34. Monsters Inc. 2 ... about time!
40. Indiana Jones 5 ...GOOD!
41. The Three Stooges ... excuse me while I go throw up.
45. Ice Age: Continental Drift.... 2 and 3 were stupid, why are they making more?
46. I, Robot 2, hmmmm?
55. Godzilla ... what? aren't there like 50 already?
92. The Great Divorce ...I'm guessing this is based on Lewis' book?, if so cool.
100. Swiss Family Robinson ...OH NO, they are going to turn all the kids onto brats!
Well that is my 2 cents
I am obviously excited about anything Narnia or Lotr coming out. And I cannot wait for the Tintin movie! My mom read the books as a child and now I read them, but I haven't gotten a chance to read the Secret of the Unicorn yet. I hope to do so before the movie. And I am sooo excited for The Green Hornet. It looks so cool.

I’m not sure if there are any Transformers fans here, but me and my sister are big Transformers fans!
Comingsoon.net is reporting that the first Teaser Trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be coming out with both VDT and Tron! I’m very excited, and my sister was doing some reading on the Transformers websites and some people are saying that they will go to see Narnia just to see the trailer! So its great for VDT as well!
For those of you who might not know Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the third Transformers movie directed by Michael Bay, based off of the popular Hasbro Toys and 80’s Cartoons.
A few things to note for the third movie are:
-Megan Fox is not in the movie and has been replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who will play a new character named Carly (if anyone has watched the 80’s cartoons, you’ll recognize the name).
-Patrick Dempsey has joined the cast along with, John Malkovich
-This is the first Transformers movie to be entirely shot in 3D
-The fan favorite Decepticon Shockwave will be in the movie
-Michael Bay says this will be his last Transformers movie.

It's literally about time they made a sequel to Monsters INC. I love the first movie so I can't wait for that! A lot of the other movies sound really good too. I also can't wait for Sherlock Holmes 2!

Transformers,
I thought the first was ok. Didn't like the beginning much but thought the end was great. I absolutely hated the second one however and vowed to ignore the third when it hits theaters. Never was a fan of Megan Fox, still not, but that would be one step in the right direction for the third movie. However I don't know if anything can get me to sit down through it. I definitely won't be going to the theater to see it, if I see it on DVD is because my brother, cousin, or friend has it and we see it together. On my own- I won't be.
Monsters' Inc 2 is a definite plus, I can't wait. For 2011 I have already made my list of movies that I want to see, separated by those I want to see in theater and those that can wait for rentals. And of course the list will be changed as the year goes on, especially when September hits and Oscar potentials start coming around. But that is still to far ahead to even worry about so I am not thinking to far into it. Gotta finish this year first, I have 5 more that I want to see in theater:
Tangled
The King's Speech
Narnia
True Grit
Tron: Legacy

I know! Monsters Inc. was like the best Pixar movie out of all of them. It is literally THE movie of my Jr. High years.
I also can't wait for Sherlock Holmes 2. I hear Stephen Fry plays Mycroft...
I wish they would make a movie out of the BBC Sherlock too! That would be so awesome...

*Comes in squeeeeing*
I just found out that one of my favorite books is being made into a movie!
Has anyone heard of the movie The Eagle? It's based on Rosemary Sutcliff's The Eagle of the Ninth and I am so excited! There are already a trailer out - it's being released February 2011 and I am definitely going to see it!
OK, yes, I do already know the plot has been changed some. For instance,
Oh, and I'm very much afraid that this film is being made only because the film company was looking for a war/drama story set in ancient history - a la Gladiator, Clash of the Titans, etc. The poster looks very "Generic Gritty Manly Movie" :
Sherlock Holmes 2, eh? Should have seen that coming. Will probably see it.
EDIT: After a search, I see there has been some slight notice of Eagle on this board before. Ahem. Will try to remember to search before posting next time.
So what do you other interested parties think?

Well, I've not read the book, although I plan to before the movie comes out. I think if they were trying to make another Gladiator, it would be rated R ... the PG-13 rating may well be a good sign here, that they're not just trying to go for the "manly, gritty ancient action movie" crowd. The trailer is great, although the mix of accents is slightly odd.

I re-read the book before watching the trailer. After all, I remembered very little of what happened, and it's a good book.
I was thrilled to see that they kept the little olivewood bird... There were some nice action scenes, and I think I like the uncle. On the other hand, I'm ready to miss it just because of what it looks like they did to the Marcus/Esca storyline. Yeah, sure they moved the angst and drama to a more dramatic point to move the story along, but... that wasn't the point.
Maybe it's a better adaption than I was expecting after reading the book, but it certainly doesn't have the same mood.

I'm waiting on some more footage to make up my mind whether to be very disappointed or not. But I have been sadly thrown out of my initial overflowing excitement at seeing Eagle of the Ninth brought to the screen.
Another thing to dislike:
The theme of the movie will be the clash of cultures between the might of the Rome and a small tribe with its own customs and traditions. The son of the legion’s commander, who sets out to retrieve the eagle and solve the mystery of what happened, comes to realise [sic] that his imperial view of the world has to be reconciled with the beliefs and traditions of other people.
From an interview with the director dated August 2009. What a wonderfully modern and endearing theme. I just don't think that is theme of the book!
Still, there are positive points, thank you Meltintalle, for listing some of them! (Must think positive, must think positive...)

indeed (although, again, I've yet to read the book). Isn't that the theme of every ancient British/Celtic movie/book nowadays? Originality, people, originality.

Does anyone know when Sherlock Holmes 2 is coming out?

Next December
Adeona, I saw the trailer for The Eagle and I'm not really into the whole fighting and blood stuff but let's just say the actors look really goodlooking so that might motivate me and a couple friends to check it out. And maybe do some intense fangirl oogling instead of paying attention to the plot. I've never read the book either. Is it worth a read?
