I hope the acting and visuals enable me to understand the story because the archaic language certainly confuses me.
I hope so too! In recent years, directors of Shakespeare films (e.g. Kenneth Branagh) realize that most of us have to trouble with the archaic language, so they try to cast actors with excellent diction and who speak the lines in a way that isn't so "old fuddy-duddy."
Personally, I'd be okay with Catwoman or Harley Quinn in the new Nolan film. I'm more concerned with the actress, though. Please, no Keira Knightley! Hathaway is a good actress, but I'm with Booky: if we're talking Catwoman, Weisz would be a great choice.

I'm still kind of annoyed that Brendan Fraser won't be in it, but oh well.....

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby will have another adaptation coming to theaters in 2012.
It has been officially announced that Carey Mulligan will be playing the role of Daisy Buchanan. She will most likely be joining Leonardo DiCaprio who is reportedly attached for the role of Jay Gatsby, and Tobey Maguire who is rumored for the role of Nick Carraway.
The movie will be directed by Baz Luhrmann.
All this means, I need to re-read the book. I haven't read it since I was in high school, and even then I didn't read it in full.
Good gravy, that book was an absolutely superficial bore to read. Ugh. I'll be avoiding the movie like the Black Plague.

Hmmm ... where'd you get that list, Eustace + Jill? It's a nice, comprehensive list (although angled towards adaptations and franchises, I must say) but I wouldn't count on each and every one of those movies coming out between now and then. Some of those productions have been in limbo for years.

These ones look/sound good:
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Suckerpunch
The Hobbit
The Adventures of Tintin
Cars 2
The Screwtape Letters
Arabian Nights
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair
The Dark Knight Rises
The Bourne Legacy
Monsters Inc. 2
Paradise Lost
A Series of Unfortunate Events 2
The Great Divorce
The Tempest
By the way, it's 'Tintin', not 'TinTin'. Pet peeve of mine. Also, there are lots of rubbish in that list and lots of movies that have already been done before. Hmmm...

Sorry about the spelling. I saw it spelled like that on a website once, and thought it was spelled that way... I'll try to remember from now on! By the way, what exactly is Tintin? It sounds familiar to me, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
And yes, a lot of them have been made before, but they are being re-made. Apparently, a lot of filmmakers are out of ideas... LOL
Lysander, I got the list from an IMDB list of Movies coming soon by year.
(Except for The Great Divorce, and Fantastic Four, which I found on a different site. I don't remember the name of that site, though. )

No worries. Thanks. Tintin is a graphic novel series that follows the adventures of a young man reporter/detective who travels the world righting wrongs. He has a dog, Snowy and a sailor friend, Captain Haddock, along with Professor Calculus and the two detectives, Thomson and Thompson.
He's the one in the middle:

^^ Cool! Looks like it might make a good movie! Is it true that Steven Spielberg (sp?) and Peter Jackson will alternate as directors and then co-direct the last? That's what I had read...
And I hear Andy Serkis will be in it! Which, really, is all it takes to make me want to see a movie...
He's going to be in the upcoming Rise of the Apes movie as well, I hear. Has anyone heard about that movie yet?
~Riella
Here's a sample from Tintin's moon adventure:
The last I've heard, yes, Speilberg and Peter Jackson will alternate as directors and co-direct the third movie. Yes, Andy Serkis is the voice and face of Captain Haddock.

I just found a list of about 100 major movies coming out between now and the end of 2012.
Spider-Man (Remake)
Fantastic Four 3
Spider-Man is a reboot, not remake. There is a difference.
And Fantastic Four last I heard was a reboot as well.
Not sure all the movies on that list will actually make it to the theater. Some I've been semi-following for awhile and aren't even near filming.
Suckerpunch: Not really a fan of Zach Snyder or the whole scantily clad women fighting things film subgenre, but the trailer for this movie looked amazing and very creative. Intrigued at the very least.
Jane Eyre: Trailer looks like a faithful adaptation. Cautiously optimistic.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4: I have a bad feeling this is going to be horrible, but I still want to go see it.
The Green Lantern: One of my favorite superheroes, not going to miss this one.
The Hobbit: Of course I want to see this. Duh.
The Screwtape Letters: Still need to read this book, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they adapt it.
Spider-Man: Not all that thrilled with this reboot thing, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Star Trek 2: Actually this is more like Star Trek XII. I adored the 2009 film, so I'm extremely excited about this.
Superman: The Superman films to date have been boring and lame. Maybe this is the time they divert from the trend.
The Dark Knight Rises: The only movie I'm anticipating more is The Hobbit. Extremely nervous/excited about this one.
The Great Gatsby: The book was depressing, but I enjoyed it. I can't see them sticking to the book though. They'll probably load it up with sex and fistfights.
My Fair Lady: If this movie is like the original it'll be great. If not, I won't bother with it.
Fantastic Four 3: I thought they were rebooting this? The last one was so dreadful I have no interest in seeing anything besides a reboot.
The article I read said Fantastic Four was indeed a third installment, and not just a reeboot. It even said they were even planning a fourth one.
What is the difference between a reboot and a remake? I had never heard there was a difference before, so that came as a surprise...

Speaking of Green Lantern, here is the trailer for the movie, looks good!
Not sure if the trailer is family friendly for everyone, so I'm mentioning it just in case.
