Narnian1, yes, I've seen that announcement. Thanks. I love the ingenious nature of the marketing. Very mysterious and rather subtle. It pikes your interest, while not giving much away. Still, I can't wait to see the final image!

EDIT: Great snakes! The first complete Tintin image from next year's Tintin movie has been revealed in full:

Warrior 4 Jesus, thanks for those pics. that's much better than what I had to offer (and which you had already seen). I must read this before it releases. I was searching for it just last week. I found it too but decided to wait just a bit more.

No worries. Those images were only released an hour or so ago. I'm hoping that special Herge issue comes to Australian shores.

Tintin does look amazing! I can't wait to see that. I'm also happy that they finally named the next Batman movie. Still I was hoping the next villian would be Riddler, Christopher Nolan said it wasn't going to be him. Who could it be? Is Two Face returning?

I haven't heard anything new on either movies, Screwtape Letters/Great Divorce.
The first has been announced for at least two years now, not sure what's going on there- but I gotta say, that won't be easy to adapt.

I just "found" two pictures of the upcoming Winnie the Pooh movie- it will be traditionally animated, like the previous installments- which is good. :)

EDIT: several more pics have been released. And please forgive me, but the trailer has been available for days and I forgot to post it, I hadn't even seen it until today. So excited for the pics, I had forgotten about the trailer :p

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island has started filming in Hawaii.
Here is the Summary for the film:

The new journey begins when Sean receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist — a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. Unable to stop him from going, Sean's new stepfather joins the quest. Together with a helicopter pilot and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter, they set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever.

Still can't believe that movie is happening. "Hmmm ... let's cobble all these random books together and see what happens. Brilliant!" 8-|

Some movies I'm looking forward to, and which I don't think have made appearances on this thread before:

The Tempest (December 2010)

This looks a little odd, but then, it's Julie Taymor, so that's to be expected. :p Actually, it looks to me as though the material is well-suited to her style. And the cast is just great: Helen Mirren, Chris Cooper, Alfred Molin, Djimon Hounsou, Felicity Jones, etc. And for some reason it doesn't bother me that they've made Prospero a woman. Really looking forward to this: by far the most interesting-looking Shakespeare adaptation to come around in a while.

Unknown (February 2011)

Liam Neeson seems to be in an action/thriller phase right now, and I have to say I'm pleased. I only hope this turns out better overall than Taken ... it certainly looks like it has the potential to be.

And, last but not least ...

the trailer for Jane Eyre (March 2011) was released yesterday!!!

It's not on YouTube, but you can see it here.

At first, like everyone, I wondered why anyone was bothering to do yet another Jane Eyre adaptation. Yet this looks good. Really good. The tone of the film seems to be convincingly Gothic, while Mia Watchamacallher looks just as I pictured Jane. The Rochester isn't quite dark and "square" enough (Orson Welles is my favorite in the part), but at least they don't seem to be trying to make a "hunk" out of him. And Judi Dench is there! And the Blanche isn't blond!

*dances a happy dance*

But isn't Journey 2 no longer a combination of the three books? I could have sworn they toned it down. Either way I would have seen it though :D

The Tempest,
I saw the trailer to that a month ago. My head started to hurt. It didn't appeal to me at ALL. Hope you enjoy it though when you see it.

Oh, maybe they've abandoned that idea. But they're still tagging The Mysterious Island onto Journey where it doesn't belong (it's the sequel to 2,00 Leagues, for crying out loud!). Such silliness. Not appealing.

Although I assume they are only tagging it to Journey for recognition from moviegoers, I can definitely see why that would annoy you.

oh, just noticed you also mentioned Jane Eyre, never read the book but I am definitely looking forward to that movie. Must go check the trailer out. *looks terrific*

Was browsing Coming Soon and discovered an interesting article claiming Nolan is meeting with actresses to cast a love interest and a villain. Among the rumored names are Anne Hathaway, Kiera Knightley, and Rachel Weisz. There's really only 4 possible female villains, Talia al Ghul, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Harley Quin. Poison Ivy is likely out since Nolan is disinterested in super science characters. I would love to see Rachel Weisz as Catwoman. Talia could actually be either the love interest or the villain, since she's pretty much both at the same time.

Lysander, I'm not a fan of Shakespeare's writings but The Tempest trailer looks amazing. I hope the acting and visuals enable me to understand the story because the archaic language certainly confuses me. Unknown also looks pretty good. I like the fact that it's an action/thriller but the trailer suggests the action is spectacular but grounded in reality (and not just for the 'cool' factor).

Bookwyrm, Talia al Ghul always bored me. Poison Ivy is quite interesting, Catwoman is decent and Harley Quinn is amazing. I'm hoping Nolan chooses her.
