I think it's actually supposed to be a really good movie. :) It premiered at Sundance and the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year to excellent reviews, and even won best picture at Berlinale. It's rated R, so obviously the content wouldn't be appropriate for everyone, but there's a lot of speculation that it could be nominated for several Academy Awards; not only acting awards for Julianne Moore and Annette Bening, but for Best Picture as well.

Fair go, Liberty. Not all R rated movies are inappropriate and not everyone on this forum is a young teenager. Besides, the R-rating in the US is pretty arbitrary. Have you even seen the movie to comment on it's quality/content? I've heard of the movie but I haven't seen it. I don't even know what it's about. So I won't comment.

bkey: I'm not saying that it's badly made. I'm just saying that the content is bad.....do you know the plot?

Warrior 4 Jesus: true enough (about the rating). if you want to know why I think it's so bad, go to www.josh-h.com and click on the link at the top for The Kids Are Alright trailer. then maybe you'll see what I mean.

Liberty Hoffman,
Be careful, many people here will agree with your views, but not all. I don't recommend trying to impose your views on others. I won't be seeing the movie myself, but I'm sure that's not the case for everyone. ;)

Yeah, I'm very aware of the plot. I think my moral standards of what I consider to be "bad" in movies are just different than yours, which is perfectly okay. Agree to disagree :)

And considering that this convo treads on the boundaries of one of our banned topics, it's probably best that discussion move on to another film.

Guillermo Del Toro has dropped out of Directing The Hobbit 1 & 2.
It's due to the delays with production due to MGM uncertain future.

Whattttttt?!! That's the worst news I've heard all day. I don't understand what's going on with these films. MGM has two huge movies on their hands with these Hobbit films, yet they can't get them off the ground. Same with the Bond franchise. If MGM would put the Hobbit and James Bond sequel into production then they could probably kiss their monetary woes goodbye. Instead, they keep producing things like Pink Panther 2 and Hot Tub Time Machine. No wonder they're struggling with bankruptcy.

That's awful news. :( With no director, even if MGM gets their act together, the filming is still going to be delayed.

The reason they haven’t started filming yet, I believe is due to the financial and lawsuit issues against MGM, I remember reading somewhere that they cant' give The Hobbit a budget until they figure out how much they can afford to give it.
It's a shame it's taken them nearly seven years to get another LOTR's movie underway.

Here's the link to the news at ComingSoon.net if anyone is interested: :)

I heard that Peter Jackson is going to direct it!

Booky: I'm sorry for bringing up that movie.....

I'm beginning to give up hope on these Hobbit films. At this rate, they won't be in theatres until I'm 20. :|
