Oh yes, sweeet, a rutabaga I'd add to my list of veggie dislikes. Don't they taste similar to turnips? I did enjoy reading your 'ick' description of said vegetable.
And when I said "avocados" I meant I don't like them plain ... at all. But I've had them mixed in with other stuff and enjoy them that way ... 'cause I can't really taste 'em then.
Poor Mel and her 'cranberry sauce' story. And it appears we have kind of opposite in some veggie tastes. Okay, Laura, I must remember never to have my beloved mushrooms when you're over.
Mmm, I enjoy summer cabbage too, wild rose. I think that's why I like brussel sprouts ... they have quite a cabbage-y flavour.
I especially enjoy vegetables raw, even more than cooked. Plus they're a great, crunchy snack. Now, where did I put the rest of those brussel sprouts ...
'Tis fun to hear everyone's dislikes ... and likes, too.
EDIT: *waves at Queen Susan* I have loved olives ever since I apparently ate 31 at a buffet when I was 3. And I think they are classified as a fruit because of the pit.

I can't stand onions. I don't mind them cooked into meals, so long as there's not a lot of them, but in salads or on pizza? Just ew.
I do tend to like lots of vegetables. We've had a garden ever since I can remember, so that's probably a factor. We grow green beans (when we were little my brother called them "bean beans"), peas, carrots, spinach, asparagus (I can't wait till the asparagus starts popping up! Definitely a sign that spring is here for good!), okra, I think we had some broccoli last year, potatoes (fresh little potatoes nuked to soft mushy goodness with cheese? Excellent stuff.), tomatoes, peppers, rhubarb, and occasionally sweet corn. I like most of those; I can't say that rhubarb is my favorite, but I'll eat it in strawberry rhubarb pie. I don't like plain raw tomatoes, unless they're in sandwiches, but I love them cooked into meals! I'm the opposite of Val there.
I do know that my dad hates beets with a passion. We've never grown them, probably because of that. I honestly don't know that I've ever had beets.

I hate mushrooms! Can't stand the idea of eating fungus. (funny, I just had this conversation with a friend last night; we were discussing the two things that will forever separate us from the general populace of Hobbits - the other thing being the Hobbits' common distaste for all things adventurous, excluding Tookish Hobbits of course. )
I also don't like Avacadoes, although I couldn't explain why. I just - don't like them. Other than these, i generally like vegetables; especially carrots, and broccoli, and cabbage. Good stuff.

ech yeah me too. When they're cooked they're so slimy and nasty *shudders*
I LOVE olives, but they're not really a vegatable.
Brussels sprouts! They are the worst vegetables I have ever tasted.
I don't think I have ever had beets. My mom hated having to eat them growing up so she never gave them to us. I don't remember trying avocados, rutabaga, turnips, parsnips, eggplant, or artichokes. Of course, I might have had them in something and not know it. I have had a pasty though.
I don't eat peas because they are related to peanuts and I am allergic to peanuts. I didn't really like them anyway.

^^i think they're about the same. brussel sprouts at least don't have a disugsting texture, but beets are all slimy. and when they're raw they have a really bad taste.
Patterwig's Pal: are you severly allergic? When did you find out about your allergy?
I forgot nuts, I like peanut butter and nutella, but give me nuts or peanuts and there is no way I can swallow them without gaging. I'm not allergic, and they don't really taste bad (except for almonds), but for some reason my body just won't allow me to swallow them. I think it has to do with the texture or crunchyness. Then again I like to chew on ice cubes and tic-tacs, and they're kind of crunchy. Maybe its subconciuos.

One of the few times I had brussel sprouts, they were frozen and I thought they tasted like broccoli. But the rest of the time I thought they were pretty nasty.
And then there are canned green beans. They are nothing like fresh green beans with that lovely vibrant green colour and wholesome taste.

I really like carrots, but I don't much like lettuce, though I will eat it.....

Brussel sprouts are the worst vegetable ever. They're just so........they just are!
I also don't like mushrooms, at all. I just can't stand eating them. yuck.
Peas I tolerate when they're mixed with other veggies.
Onions I will actually eat in moderation. My dad is allergic to them so they're hardly ever in the house, but when they are I'll eat them if they're cooked in something.
I have actually never tried rutabaga or avacados. One look and I knew I didn't want them.
Carrots, broccoli, corn, cucumbers, radish (if it's in a salad), potatoes, spinach (in small doses), cabbage (also in small doses), beans.........yum. I'm hungry.
Patterwig's Pal: are you severly allergic? When did you find out about your allergy?
Yes, I am severely allergic to peanuts (but I'm not sure exactly what would happen if I ate peas. It is more of a precaution that I don't eat them.) My mom tells me that when I was little I actually liked peanut butter. I started throwing up after eating it. I was tested for a whole bunch of things and found out that I was severely allergic to peanuts. Over the years I learned the hard way how to control my allergy. One time I tried eating around peanuts in something and my lip swelled up. It DOES NOT work to eat around peanuts. The stuff most people are allergic to is on the SURFACE of the peanut. Another time a few years ago, I got a contaminated Blizzard and Dairy Queen (i.e. peanuts or peanut dust). I was out on a walk by myself (thankfully I had a cell phone) and my arms started to itch and turned bright red. I began having trouble breathing (in other words my throat was beginning to close and my asthma was kicking in). I called my mom to come and get me and we went to the emergency room. The doctor there was not happy that I had did not carry an epipen. I carry two now. The bad thing about food allergies is that each time one eats that food the reaction is worse. I get really nervous around peanuts/peanut butter. The smell of peanuts makes me feel a little sick to my stomach. I think that is more because of fear then my allergy.
Anyway, back to veggies.
And then there are canned green beans. They are nothing like fresh green beans with that lovely vibrant green colour and wholesome taste.
Ugh! I can't stand canned green beans. (Well, I can eat them but the taste is really killed when they can them).
I like most kinds of tomatoes - except stewed tomatoes. We used to be served stewed tomatoes at school. We were forced to try everything before we could leave the table. They didn't taste good. A friend of mine tried to hid them in her napkin. They ate through it a little bit. I'm not sure what she ended up doing with the napkin.
I don't know if baked beans count as a vegetable, but I cannot stand them. I felt like I was going to be sick when I was forced to try them at school.

I love lettuce, cabbage, and green beans! Peas are ok.
wolfloversk: i'm kinda the same. i don't like to have plain nuts but i LOVE peanut butter and nutella. they're so delicious! peanut butter is my fave flavor
