The food thread I did a few weeks ago was a big hit, so I thought I'd do another one that I think everybody can relate to... pizza toppings!!
It is really funny to debate with my fellow mods about various food items because as we're from all over the world, tastes vary quite a bit. (Just yesterday we got into a huge debate as to which was better... tuna salad or chicken salad. Yeah, I know, it's amazing we ever get anything done around here... ) We've definitely debated our favorite pizza toppings and the hottest argument is whether a pizza with tomato sauce is superior to one without it.
As I'm in a bit of a hurry today (and already two days behind my normal fun thread starting date), I'll come back and post my favorite pizza toppings later (it's a bit unorthodox ), but I will say right now that the absolute worst thing you can put on a pizza is mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms terribly much anyways (it's the texture, not the taste), but when put on a pizza, they magically transform into rubber bands. Blegh!!!
So there you go everybody... Best pizza toppings and absolute worst toppings? Have fun!
but I will say right now that the absolute worst thing you can put on a pizza is mushrooms.
I'm the exact opposite. The more mushrooms, the better, on a pizza—any type at all. Plaster 'em on thick and yummy. Did I mention I'm part hobbit? I mean, who can't resist this?
Or this?
I guess you can, fk, lol.
Other than that I love:
~pineapple and ham,
~sometimes bacon,
~spinach (Mmmm)
~loads of fresh tomatoes, chicken,
~olives and more olives (black or green or both),
~snow peas, parsley (but unfortunately these two are not offered a whole lot where I am),
~garlic and garlic and garlic ♥,
~feta cheese (lots),
~broccoli's nice,
~and then all topped with gooey mozzerella cheese.
Mmmmmm .... I hasten to add I don't necessarily like all of the above on the same pizza.
Worst? Peppers and onions (although I don't mind green onions) and dill.

ditto about your worst Jo. I HATE pepper and onions on a pizza...or anywhere really .
I was wondering when the next thread would come up. Of the top of my head I can't really think of a worst pizza topping . The best I can do is say the cheese at this one pizza place. It was so thick and cohesive one could hardly eat it. I like a lot of different types of pizza toppings, so it is hard to pick one. I like supreme (preferably without the onions but I don't mine it with). They usually have pepperoni, sausage, green and red peppers, and sometimes mushrooms. I like meat lovers pizza too (usually sausage, Canadian bacon, pepperoni). I will also eat pizza with just one or another of those toppings. When we make homemade pizza, I usually put broccoli and cauliflower on it and green and / or red pepper if we have it. I like to eat healthy foods so the high fat pizzas (supreme and meat) are a once in a while treat.
I've had spaghetti pizza before, and it was pretty good.

When I was little, I hated pineapple on pizza. Even now, I'm still a little leery of it. Maybe it's the whole there-is-fruit-on-my-pizza-!!! aspect. I dislike olives of all kinds with a passion, so I don't like them on pizza either. Meat of all kinds is generally welcomed. So's cheese, and tomatoes, and spinachy stuff. I had a very good pizza once that was spinach alfredo with italian sausage. Lately, I've been a little more tolerant of what I eat on my pizzas, so mushrooms, onions, and the odd pepper have been accepted. I find cheese pizza to be very, very boring. It's not bad by any means, and I don't mind it. I just think that with all the possibilities and choices available, plain cheese is... boring.
Johobbit, snow peas? Broccoli? On pizza? I have never heard of either those or parsley being put on pizza, although parsley sounds tasty. I am wary of the snow peas and broccoli though.
Actually, looking at Pattertwig's Pal's post and seeing not only broccoli, but cauliflower on it, maybe I am just a sheltered pizza eater.

I'm with you MissAdventure! Pineapple on pizza just doesn't work for me. Also, I'm with johobbit! The more mushrooms the better.
There is a big list of toppings which I like, so I will just post the short list of toppings which I don't like.
I don't like:
~pineapples
~olives
Yeah, real epic! lol
I would also like to say that I love pizzas with a lot of tomato sauce as well as a lot of meat.

Favorite toppings? Pineapple. Lots of pineapple. Pizza would not be pizza if it didn't have tried-and-true pepperoni. Italian sausage is excellent if I'm in the mood for a little more spice. Onions can either be on or off, I don't care (as long as they're not on the same pizza as the pineapple). Peppers in moderation. Cheese. Loads of cheese, in at least three varieties. And don't forget the garlic sauce.
I will say right now that the absolute worst thing you can put on a pizza is mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms terribly much anyways (it's the texture, not the taste), but when put on a pizza, they magically transform into rubber bands. Blegh!!!
ditto. Mushrooms on pizza are horrible. I would never make it as a hobbit.
I will eat anything on a surpreme pizza, but when it comes to mushrooms and onions on pizzas NO THANKS!!

Ahh, a pizza topping thread! My family doesn't eat any diary except for butter, so when we make our own pizzas we do an imitation type of cheese which is also fairly good. But I tell you, nothing beats the look and smell of freshly made pizza coming right out of the oven, with real cheese all melted into one large, circle, layer on top of the pizza! And alas that I should say that it is one of my duties at work to make the pizzas! (I keep telling my Mom that one day I'm going to order myself a large pizza from my work place, with lots of cheese on it, and lots of olives, tomatoes, pineapple, peppers and onions, just to see what she says.... Of course I won't, though. )
My personal favourite pizza toppings are olives, tomatoes, and pineapple. Peppers- red and green- are also really good if they're fresh. I'm not sure how frozen peppers would do, even if they are thawed out by the time the pizza is cooked. We don't eat meat so our pizzas are distinctly vegan, which means no pepperoni, sausage, or bacon. Or even mushrooms. I had to chop mushrooms once at work, really, I don't know what's so good about them. Especially since I've heard stories about mushrooms, which I shan't scare you all with. I love tomato sauce, and lots of it! Ah yes....

I tend to prefer sausage pizza with some assorted vegetables, maybe pepperoni and some mushrooms.
Worst toppings? White chocolate and tomatoes.
Seriously, though, and I know I'm going to sound absolutely insane when I say this, but my least favorite topping on a pizza is... cheese. Yes, cheese. And I don't mean extra cheese or special cheeses... I mean any cheese.
Why? I don't like cheese. Plain and simple. So I'll oftentimes just take off all the cheese on the pizza before eating it.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But without cheese, there is no pizza!" Which I've definitely gotten a few times. *shrug* If you ask me, pizza without the cheese tastes just fine. Besides, how are lactose-intolerant people supposed to eat pizza, then?

Favourites:
(in no order)
Pepperoni
Goat Cheese
Sundried Tomatoes (*Not* tomatoes that were fresh, but then baked along with all the other raw ingredients underneat.)
Jalapenos
Peppers
Sausage
Olives
Bacon
Chicken (Chicken and Jalapenos tastes especially good.)
Worst:
Pineapple (it's fruit, and should be in dessert, not dinner. )
Mushrooms. I looove them otherwise, but just not on pizza.
We once had some pizza named ranch pizza which has the crust, tomato sauce, and cheese. Somewhere tucked in there's ranch... but it's then topped with tomatoes, bacon, fresh lettuce and some other interesting toppings. Soo good.

I prefer boring but reliable stuff like pepperoni and sausage, but I'll also eat ham and pineapple. I would say something about it not being pizza without cheese, but I don't want to make stardf mad at me. I won't eat olives or mushrooms. Don't like the texture.
Mark my words, someday I will think of something brilliant to put in my sig.
Best Pizza Ever:
Pepperoni and Jalapeno (bring a towel, you'll be sweating a lot)
My family hails from New York originally so they're fairly particular about their pizzas. It has to be a NY style pie and usually the only types they get are plain cheese, pepperoni, and occasionally sausage. NY style is, of course, the best pizza in the world (*dares the Chicago style people to say otherwise* ) but since it's essentially thin crust the more toppings you put on the more sloppy the pizza gets. And if you need a fork and knife for a pizza it's not really a pizza (*looks at the Chicago style fans smugly*).
I'm not opposed to pineapple on a pizza but it has to be a Hawaiian style pizza with the Canadian bacon and pineapple. Otherwise it's getting a little...weird.
