I heard this amazing song by Alison Krauss on my Tradional Country playlist on Pandora. It's called "When You Say Nothing At All". It's a really beautiful, really sweet song.

There's three different artists who've sung it (two other guys have done it as well) but, I like Alison the best. Her voice is so sweet and beautiful with this song. It's sung amazingly well.

AslansChild, oh yes! Jeremy Camp is terrific live! It was unbelievable! Maybe because it's so fresh, and I had to wait longer, but I think he was better than Casting Crowns even, and they were amazing. Third Day and Chris Tomlin are equally fantastic...

That's good. I know some people are really awful. Nice to know we have some real talent in the Christian Music biz. :) Too many people treat it as a profession, not a passion of praise to the Lord. :)

O gosh, I haven't heard that song in years. But as soon as you mentioned the name, it came back to me. It is a pretty song, isn't it? :)

Off subject:
Bethany Dillon released an EP recently. Anyone know when the whole CD will be out? Also, did she get a new website?
I have this: http://www.bethanydillon.com/ but it's obviously old :p .
Just thought they'd update it...

Over and Underneath is a favorite album of mine, SnowAngel. I look forward to hearing what you think of it. :D

Any other U2 fans out there? They're my dad's favorite band so I grew up listening to them from the get-go. I've become an even bigger fan of them over the years, and even saw them in concert last year. They've been one of the most consistent bands I know of, after being together for 32 years. Their song-writing is one thing I appreciate, as well as their raw talent.

Another similar band I love is Switchfoot. Their lyrics are so poignant, poetic, and meaningful. I've been loving their Vice Verses album as well as The Beautiful Letdown, and random singles from their other projects (their song Awakening is one in particular that I've been loving lately).

And, as you all probably know, I'm a huge Owl City fan. ;)) Anyone else looking forward to his new album?

Yes! My dad loved them as well. He got their best of 80-90 CD. At first, I really disliked U2. Then, I started liking Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. After that, it was just a matter of time before I started liking more and more of their music.

Mountie, after liking some of Coldplay's older stuff (like Parachutes) and hearing them constantly compared to U2, I've always wanted to see what U2's music was like but didn't know where to start and didn't want to find something unexpected and unsavory. So, may I ask your advice on what song would you recommend to listen to as a first? ;))

And Owl City has a new album? I will be anticipating it now!

That's exactly what I've heard! People say that Coldplay and U2 are thought of as the worlds best alternative rock bands. And I love Coldplay, so I've always wondered if I would like U2. I've heard a couple songs, but I wasn't really paying attention, and I don't remember them. What would you guys say are there must-listens? Besides "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", I've heard that one. :)

Has anyone heard Audrey Assad's new album Heart? It's pretty good! I've heard it a couple times, and I really like "Lament", and "O My Soul", "Even the Winter", and "New Song". :)

I've also really been liking the band Leagues songs "Mind Games" and "Haunted". Very electric and smooth, like Muse's song Starlight. And the song "Burn Me Down" by House of Heroes. It's been stuck in my head for weeks!!! Love it SO much! :D

Yes! *pumps fist* So glad I'm not the only one. ;)) Ironically, my story is similar to yours. I liked the music as a kid, but never really thought about it otherwise. Then I heard Celtic Thunder's cover of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and decided to go listen to the real version. ;)) I can't really pin down an exact moment when I became a U2 fan, since it's been such a slow and gradual process.

*waves to Bella & The Pendragon* :-h Oh, wow, I'm flattered that you'd ask me. ;)) There's so many great songs; I don't know where to start. I'd definitely recommend Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Without You, Stuck in a Moment, City of Blinding Lights, and Moment of Surrender. Bella, do listen to I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For if you haven't yet. Those are a few of my favorites, and some of U2's softer songs. I'll have to listen to some of their harder rock sounds and let you know recommendations for those. ;))

And now, on the flipside; I've heard of Coldplay but haven't really heard much of their music. Would you two have any suggestions for worthy listens? I've heard Viva La Vida. I liked the melody line of that one, but other than that it wasn't very memorable.

And Owl City has a new album? I will be anticipating it now!

Yes, yes! I don't think a release date has been set yet, nor a title announced, but he put up a blog post about it recently and has been tweeting about it several times since. He's said it's a lot different from his previous albums, and not quite as electronica. Some people are upset that he's veering away from the electronica vibe, but I personally can't wait. I love his music just as much when it has an acoustic sound, and I also think that it's going to be a great stretch of growth for him as an artist. /ramble

Well, since we seem to be on the topic of Rock music currently, I guess it would be O.K to drop by.... ;))

Well, I recently finally discovered the works of David Bowie and Led Zeppelin. Yep, these are two artists (well, artist and a group) that have been around since the late 60's, but I've just now gotten around to listening to their work. I have already heard these two names thrown around and vaguely knew who they were, though never really tried to listen to anything they put out.

With all this introduction out of the way... I actually rather enjoy both. Yeah, big shock there since it's Classic Rock/Oldies. :P

David Bowie

Definitely one of the oddest singer-songwriters to come out of the 70's, this guy is just weird. Despite his oddness, there are a couple of his songs that I actually like:

Changes
Space Oddity (Ground Control to Major Tom)
Rebel Rebel
Let's Dance
As the World Falls Down (from the movie Labyrinth... also starring Bowie)
-------------------
Led Zeppelin

If you don't know the name, you should. This is the great hard rock British group that helped define the gritty sound of 1970's and 1980's rock. Possibly as influential as The Beatles, though I think the Fab Four is an overall better band with a more consistent (and cleaner) catalog. :) ;)

The vocals of Robert Plant take a bit of getting used to, as he mostly either mutters or screams, but the guitar parts by Jimmy Page are SO easy to get into. Add to that the keyboard/bass work of John Paul Jones and the wild percussion of John Bonham and you have a classic band.

As with most Classic Rock groups, not all of Led Zeppelins songs are great nor are they all clean, lyrically speaking. Having said that, the songs of theirs that I like are O.K lyric wise, so... check em out! :D

Immigrant Song
Friends
Stairway to Heaven
Kashmir
No Quarter
Over the Hills and Far Away
Heartbreaker (does have one brief line before the middle guitar solo)
All of My Love
Rock and Roll
The Rain Song
Battle of Evermore (LotR reference song!! :-bd )
Ramble On (has another LotR reference)
Bron-Yr-Aur (acoustic solo)
--------------------------------------

And now I'll slip out and let y'all get back to your regular scheduled programming. ;))

Avvie by the great Djaq!

Thanks for the suggestions, MountainFireFlower! May I call you Mountie, by the way? I see others have made that your nickname here. :)

As for Coldplay songs, there are so many good ones! My personal favorites are:

-Paradise
-Princess of China
-Cemeteries of London
-Lost!
-Strawberry Swing
-Yellow
-Violet Hill
-Fix You

There are LOTS of other good ones (pretty much all of them), but currently these are my favorites, and good ones for a first listening experience. :)

I've been getting into Florence and the Machine of late. I'm not sure what genre they belong to but they're a great band with poetic lyrics and some serious musical skills.

I love Over and Underneath! :D It came on Friday about 10 minutes before we left for the weekend. I had just enough time to rip to the computer and put it on my MP3 player. :) I have already listened to it several times. :) I love Love is Here, By Your Side, Let It Go, Hold My Heart, Beloved, and Hallelujah. :D It was definitely worth getting now. :)

The Switchfoot concert was last night! It was amazing!
I especially loved "Dark Horses," and "Where I Belong."

Anyone hear of the Maccabeats? Its an accapella group made up of students from Yeshiva University in New York...they're SO good! They have 2 CD's out right now, they mostly sing Hebrew songs, which are beautifully done, but they also make parody's of famous secular songs...which are very funny

Thoughts? :)
