What do you think of Britt Nicole's new CD, "Gold"

Some of the songs have a good beat, but she's leaning more towards hip-hop than pop. "Amazing Life" is pretty good, sounds more dance-ish. But the CD in general sounds just like any normal/clean secular CD, with only very very vague mentions of God. I know people that will LOVE this CD, but for me to go to it thinking it was Christian; and after waiting 3 years: it was a let down...... :-?

I'm waiting for this:

Here's a question for you all:
If you could only have 5 CD for the rest of your life, what would they be? (hehehe this should be interesting... :p )

Jeremy Camp- Number 1's.
Third Day- Chronology Vol 1 & 2. (counting as one). :)
MercyMe- Their hits album.
Chris Tomlin- A Live CD that contains most his hits.
Casting Crowns- ditto above.

There. I know hits album is kinda cheating, but I need all my faves. And even like this I am losing out on many songs.

O...good ones! :) And "Best of's" aren't cheating, in my opinion.

Here's mine, after much debate:

(In no particular order)

Michael Buble - The Michael Buble Collection
Mandisa - What If We Were Real
Kari Jobe - Where I Find You
Various - Doo Wop Classics
Rebecca St. James - I Will Praise You

Wow, that was really hard. :-s

@AslansChild Only five.... hm.

1. Vice Verses
2. Hello Hurricane
3. Oh! Gravity
4. Nothing is Sound
5. The Beautiful Letdown

Yeah I know they're all Switchfoot. :P I'd probably pick Skillet's "Awake" and TobyMac's "Tonight" for sixth and seventh, if I could.

SnowAngel, I'm also really, really looking forward to The Struggle by TAN. I'm hoping it's really good! August 21 can't come soon enough! :)

*can't do the 5 CD thing because she just can't* ;)) Now, if we're talking 20 not including soundtracks...then I probably could. :P tobyMac, DC*B, Superchic[k], TAN, and Switchfoot would definitely make the list.

I've lately gotten into Switchfoot alot *pokes Gildor* "Let Your Love Be Strong" and "Where I Belong" are my current favourites, though "Dark Horses" and ESPECIALLY "Awakening" :D :D always cheer me up and are more elite than "favourite." (especially the latter.)

I've also listened to a bit of Gungor, but don't know if I'm a fan. Musically, one cannot deny that they're incredibly talented. I like "The Fall," "Church Bells," and "The Earth is Yours."

I had a huge Superchic[k] streak a few months ago, but now all I really want to listen to is Indie music. Does anyone know some good Indie bands that specialize in slow, melancholic music? (my only preference is that I'm not really into romance-centralized songs, and, of course, no songs with ... odd content.)

I was wondering---has anyone heard For King and Country's new CD Crave? I did like "Busted Heart" and "Light It Up," but I'm not sure if I'm a fan or not. :P Just wanted to know what others thought. :)

narnian1: Hm, that's kinda hard for me. First off, I'd suggest you try the new CD, Where I Find You, NOT the old one...new one's much much better.

But if I had to give you one song as an introduction...I'd say: "Steady My Heart"
I included a link to the song if you want to try it - please let me know if it's to your liking or not. I could try a different song...

Gildor_Inglorion
: I really do need to try to listen to more Switchfoot...

Aslanisthebest: I know, I didn't realize how very hard it was to pick just 5. Now...10 or a dozen...that'd be much better. :) What's "TAN"? And also, what's "Indie" music? Is that like Ingrid Michaelson, A Fine Frenzy, Missy Higgins, that type of thing? I do know some Christian Indie singers: JJ Heller, Audrey Assad, Sara Groves, and Joy Williams, though she's not really a Christian singer anymore...the song Charmed Life is good...

And I have listened to For King and Country - mainly because they're Rebecca St. James brothers...they're good.

So right, Aslanisthebest! :D

Only 5 CDs? /:) That's tough! Right now, I would say Believer by Kutless, Take Over by Aaron Shust, The Light Meets The Dark by Tenth Avenue, Revelation by Third Day, and Fly by Robin Mark.

@Gildor_Inglorion I agree! I have those albums memorized, I love them so much!!! :D I took a break from SF for a while (all music, actually), and I'm starting to listen to them again, and just remembering why I love them! Today, I listened to "Life and Love and Why" while walking outside...does life get ANY BETTER?! :D

Right now, the new album from The Vespers is on Spotify (download application to your computer where you can listen to lots of music for free legally)! It will be released on April 3rd, but I've had it for a few months because I participated in their Kickstarter fundraiser. I just have to say this album, The Fourth Wall, is probably one of the best folk albums of ALL TIME!

If you've never heard ofThe Vespers, they are a Christian indie folk band. The songwriters/ singers are two sisters, and two brothers play instruments. They are all in their early twenties. They came out with Tell You Mama a couple years ago, and you can get it on Noisetrade for free, or you can hear it on Grooveshark or youtube.

I love ALL the songs on this album, but some good ones from Tell Your Mama are:
-Not So Nice
-"No", He Said
-Happy Lessons
-Dear Sir

Again, I love ALL the songs on their second album, but the best first listen ones are:
-Better Now
-Winter
-Will You Love Me?
-Jolly Robber
-Daughter
-Got No Friends

Please check them out if you're interested, because they're really amazing and deserve way more listeners! :)

AslansChild,
Thanks for that link for Kari Jobe. The song was very nice! I'll be getting it. Sounds like a song I'll play repeatedly. :)

@for King and Country. I have listened to Busted Heart only so far and I love the song. :)

Mhm, 5 is so broad! But if I absolutely had to pick... ;))
TAN=Tenth Avenue North, a really great contemporary Christian band. :)
"Indie" is kind of independent music, a genre that's different than simply one type? I'm not sure of the exact definition, but many bands I like are labeled "Indie" so I look under that label when trying to find good music. ;)) I think one of my favourites is Indie/Folk. I haven't heard of the first three, but I do love JJ Heller's music. (especially her first album, Painted Red. Deeper is great, too.) and I've heard a bit of Joy Williams from The Civil Wars. The Civil Wars have a great sound, but I don't listen to a whole lot of it because majority of it is love songs. :P I really, really love "Tracks in the Snow" by them.

Ah, so there are some who like For King and Country! :) I want to listen to their CD one of these days but can't get around to it...

Success!!! Glad to hear it! If I could offer a little friendly advice about her new CD? In my honest opinion, the 1st 6 songs are best. B-) Just so that you know, in case you were thinking of getting more of her stuff... :) Enjoy!!!

By the way, just thought I'd ask: Is Jeremy Camp any good live? :-

Some people are very very good live; like Casting Crowns. Others just: stink. :p

AslansChild, oh yes! Jeremy Camp is terrific live! It was unbelievable! Maybe because it's so fresh, and I had to wait longer, but I think he was better than Casting Crowns even, and they were amazing. Third Day and Chris Tomlin are equally fantastic...

I'm so excited! :D I got to order Over and Underneath by TAN today. B-) I hope it doesn't take very long to get here. :) Only my Dad (who placed the order) and my older sister know I got it, I'm going to surprise my siblings. :D

I'm off to watch Maverick with my siblings. :)
