*can't remember if there's a rule about it being okay to double post if it's been a while...*

But I had a new question: :p

Who all here has heard of/likes Mae? I'm really starting to like their music. A lot. :)
Novocaine, Brink of Disaster, and Mistakes We Knew We Were Making are my most recent finds. :)

I've heard a little bit of Mae; mostly I just notice a nice song on Pandora, and it's by them. But I don't know the names of any songs. :P :)

Queen Susan: Double posts are allowed after 24 hours of no posts in the thread. But even within that parameter, use good taste. :) You've done just right.

Hahaha. Well, Mae was (and possibly is) my favorite band throughout much of my adolescence. The Everglow is probably my favorite album of all time. Singularity was a bit disappointing, since it wasn't really Mae, however, it's still a very good alt. rock album. I thought the yearlong project was a bit dull and disjointed, but had some gems. Overall, Mae had a lot of ups and downs and definitely wasn't the most consistent of bands, but they have a lot of great songs. I've seen them live twice. The first time was just ok, the second time they were much better.

My favorites are "Suspension," "We're So Far Away," "The Ocean," "Novocaine," "Just Let Go," and "Sleep Well."

I've been listening almost exclusively to Sufjan Stevens and Kye Kye lately. Both have been a revelation to me. Kye Kye was an instant favorite and it took me years to finally get into Sufjan, but now that I'm in, I'm sold.

I've been listening to a lot of Jon Foreman on pandora lately; and I'm thinking that if I ever get around to buying a Five for Fighting and Lifehouse album, I'll buy Fall for Winter by him. Does anyone own that, and like it? :)

Aaron Shust finally has a new single, My Hope Is In You. It's really good. :) I'm really looking forward to when the CD comes out in August.

And when I checked the Courageous facebook page, I found this. Pretty cool! :D

haha, you have very good tast, Evelyn!! I love all of those as well!! :D
I just started listening to Coldplay again, after slacking off for almost a year. :P I do that a lot with some of my favorite bands, forget them, and then come back and love them. :) I absolutely LOVE everything in the album X&Y, and Rush of Blood to the head, I'm listening to them a lot!

*pops in at mention of Coldplay*

I agree with Elanor, Evelyn--good taste in music! =] What's your favourite album of Sanctus Real?

That's neat you like X&Y, Elanor! I haven't really heard much on that one. However, I loooooooove Parachutes! It's such a beautiful, calm album. And from there either Don't Panic or Parachutes.
On Rush of Blood to the Head (again, haven't really heard this one much), I love Politik. The organ in that is just so epically beautiful.
Clocks... which album is that from? (I'm bad with albums, I just know the songs... ;)) ) Other favourites are Speed of Sound, Strawberry Swing... I really love the instrumental of "Viva la Vida" It's actually the song that made me like Coldplay. ;)) [/ramble]

Has anyone here yet heard of The City Harmonic?
They're a new group, formed in 2010, currently only have the EP available on iTunes, 6 songs. They are a group worth checking out! I just got 5 of the songs today and think they are great,

but by far the best one is Manifesto- which is currently playing in radios, their first single. The song basically introduces them and their profound faith in God. Basically the song states what their belief is, and it finishes with the Lord's Prayer (sung, not spoken). It's an AMAZING song. :)

What's your favourite album of Sanctus Real?

I know this wasn't addressed to me, but I'm going to answer anyway. :P I really like Pieces of a Broken heart; that's probably my fave album of theirs. I love The Way the World Turns, and I'll Show you how to live (I don't think either of those are the correct titles . . :P).

That's neat you like X&Y, Elanor! I haven't really heard much on that one. However, I loooooooove Parachutes! It's such a beautiful, calm album. And from there either Don't Panic or Parachutes.

I own Parachutes so I've listened to it a lot; I do really like it. I like how all of the music is more quiet, and yet has personality. Yellow has always been a personal favorite, and I love Parachutes, and Trouble, and . . all of them. :) But since I've just started listening to X&Y, I'm really loving it. :)

Clocks... which album is that from?

I think it's from Rush of Blood to the head. :)

I really love the instrumental of "Viva la Vida" It's actually the song that made me like Coldplay. ;)) [/ramble]

Same for me!! The first time I listened to any Coldplay, I listened to Viva la Vida (the album), and I didn't like any of it, until I got to that song. :D And I still LOVE it.
Wow. A lot to say about coldplay, huh?

Which Tenth Avenue North CD would you all recommend getting first? I'm looking for some new music and what I have listened to by TAN I have really enjoyed. :)
I ordered a SanDisk Sansa Clip+ from Amazon last weekend, it's suppose to be here by Saturday. *keeps fingers crossed* I'm really excited about having an MP3 player. :D We have a trip late this summer that I'm not looking forward to, but I hope it will be more enjoyable with music. :)

Hmm . . The Light Meets the Dark is just about my favorite CD of all time - but I really want to say that you should get the first one, Over and Underneath, first. So I'm not sure. :P Both are excellent, and I'm sure you would enjoy them!!

yes both TAN cds are great, but I'd start with the first one if I were you too. It's always so listen to a ban from the "beginning" (unless their later work is much stronger)- either way, you won't be disappointed. :)

Elanor: I own all of Jon Foreman's music, and he is amazing. Fall and Winter are just goregous EP's! They are slow and melodic, and very thought provoking lyrics. I've got them on a physical CD, and I do not regret buying them one bit! :) Fall and Winter have a more melancholy tone, and beautifully done. Some of my favorites on Fall are The Cure for Pain, Southbound Train, Lord, Save Me from Myself, and My Love Goes Free. On Winter, I love I am Still Running (that's probably my all time favorite song by him), White As Snow, and Learning How To Die.

I just started listening to Coldplay again, after slacking off for almost a year. I do that a lot with some of my favorite bands, forget them, and then come back and love them. I absolutely LOVE everything in the album X&Y, and Rush of Blood to the head, I'm listening to them a lot

X&Y is a great album! It has an almost sci-fi sound, like you're going on a rocket to outer space or something. :) My favorites are: Square One, White Shadows, Fix You, Talk, X&Y, Speed of Sound, A Message, Swallowed in the Sea, and Till Kingdom Come. Although that's nearly the whole album! :p

Rush of Blood to the Head is really good, too. My favorite from that one is Warning Sign! That's the song that got me into them! :)

However, I loooooooove Parachutes! It's such a beautiful, calm album. And from there either Don't Panic or Parachutes.
On Rush of Blood to the Head (again, haven't really heard this one much), I love Politik. The organ in that is just so epically beautiful.

Parachutes is really good!!! I think my favorite is Don't Panic! Shiver, Spies, and Yellow are amazing! I love the actual song Parachutes, but is SO SHORT! it's only like 46 seconds long. :(

Strawberry Swing is just perfect! :x And Violet Hill! I think Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends is my favorite album of theirs. It is just genius!! :D

I have got a few new albums this month. First of all, All Things Bright and Beautiful by Owl City came out! It is awesome! I love the whole thing, but my favorites are Kamikaze, Deer In The Headlights, Galaxies, Aligater Sky, and Honey and the Bee. They are all SO good! I love that he is expanding his musical style and lyrics. His lyrics are what really stood out to me. At first it seemed like his Ocean Eyes, in the way that they sounded more like cute pop songs. But there really is quite a bit of depth to these.

I also got a free album off NoiseTrade by The Vespers called "Tell Your Mama". They're a little folk band with some really sweet, catchy tunes! I'm really loving them! My favorite songs of theirs are: Not So Nice, Tell Your Mama, "No" He Said, Happy Lessons, High Hopes, Pick a Fight, Dear Sir. If you like folk, I suggest you grab their album for free off NoiseTrade! :)

I also took Kate's advice and treated myself to the album Young Love by Kye Kye. It is just amazing! I am completely obsessed with it! :D Every song is so beautiful! My favorites are: Reach, Broke, Rooftops, Knowing This, Trees & Trust, Went About, and Sleeper. They have wonderful lyrics, and I love the electronica sound they have. Thank you SO MUCH Kate!!! :D
