Oh, by the way, I found that song I was trying to identify!
It was this one:
~Riella
narnian1, I love Owl City! (actually a he, not they; just a random fact so people don't get mad at you ) And all of his new stuff is much different from his older songs, at least, I think so. I don't care for his new song Alligator Sky, but Galaxies and others I've heard clips of sound amazing.

And thanks everyone for the well-wishing about the concert! I will be taking my camera and going to several concerts in June, so I will try to link to pictures when I get back.
Oh, do! I'd love to see those!
I just bought my first Owl City song: Galaxies.
I've tried getting into them before but it just didn't suit me. (Listened on YouTube). However I quite enjoy this one.
I understand; it does take awhile to get used to them. When I first heard Fireflies, I hated it. Now I really, really love him (I remembered! ). I've only heard clips of Galaxies, all over the place, I really need to listen to it!!
And all of his new stuff is much different from his older songs, at least, I think so.
Do you like his new stuff better, or do you think it's going down hill? I'm really liking it; he's adding a lot of stuff which I'm really liking. I did like Alligator Sky; the rapping was just fun, though I wish he'd just done like one verse of it, and had more singing.

Oh, I think it is definitely much better. Something about his voice just sounds more...I'm not sure how to put it...mature, maybe? And I do like Alligator Sky more than I used to, I just have this thing about listening to his songs to hear him, and the first time I heard it, it was a clip of mostly the rap part, so the song has never been my favorite (and I didn't like Shawn Chrystopher's voice when I first heard it, but I like it now, so that helps some ). I have one song from another of Adam's (Owl City) projects (he has lots ), and he raps in it, and I like it, so I kind of wish he had done the rap himself, but oh well.

Oh, I totally agree; I like how his voice is changing, though it was still really nice before. It needed more depth, and I think he has that now.

There's a version of Alligator Sky without a rap that I like a lot:
. It'd be nice to have a compilation of evenly rap and singing, but we can't have everything. I really love Owl City; he's a very good artist. I love that he mixes his own stuff.
"Let the music cast its spell,
give the atmosphere a chance.
Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."

Depth, that's what I was trying to think of! Yes, it has always been nice, but the added depth adds a little extra that makes it more amazing.

Ooh, I love that version! It sounds very different from what I'm used to hearing when I listen to Alligator Sky, but I love the different lyrics. And I agree, I love how he mixes his own music, too.

Based on what I found when I searched, it looks to me like Casting Crowns first single of their next album will be titled Courageous. (Remember the CD will be titled "Come to the Well").
I missed this song title on their facebook page, accidentally came across it now. And of course I did a search, I found a blog page where it said Casting Crowns was somehow involved with Courageous the movie- I assume of course that it's with this song. They had Voice of Truth in Facing the Giants, and Slow Fade in Fireproof.
narnian1, I downloaded Tenth Ave. North's "You Don't Owe Me". I wish I could have gone to the Third Day and Tenth Ave. tour, but they didn't come anywhere near us. I saw a really cool video of them playing "Times" together though, which was fun to watch.
I'm glad you like Owl City's "Galaxies". A lot of my friends who don't like Owl City, like that song as well. I love all of Owl City's music, some of his songs more than others.
I also like the song "Alligator Sky". I didn't really like the rap part at first, but it's kind of grown on me. Rap is sort of growing on me...not dirty rap, but the Christian mellow more hip-hop style of rap.
My brothers recently got Lecrae's album "Rehab" and "Overdose". And I actually like a lot of the songs on this album, especially "Background" feat. C-Lite. That song is now on my list of top favorite songs!! What I don't like about most rap is that it's too fast I can't understand it, or it's so distorted sounding that I can't possibly enjoy listening to it. But the more mellow of Lecrae's songs are really good and the lyrics have so much depth to them, the songs are actually refreshing to listen to.

How did you like the Tenth Ave North song? It's too bad you didn't get to go to the tour, it would have been amazing. Can you link me to the Times video?

I've not heard Alligator Sky, at least I don't think I have. I know I tried Firefly (Fireflies?)- among others on youtube. None of which I was crazy for. Maybe now that I like Galaxies, once I've played it out I might go back and give another try- that often changes my opinion of songs.

Ooh, that sounds so good! I'd also like the link!

I completely agree with this; just a short while ago, I couldn't abide any sort of rap at all, my mind was totally closed to it. And now I'm starting to like it. I mean, I'm not going to listen to it all day, but occasionally.

Anyone know any good indie rock bands? It's a genre that I'm interested in, but I only know the band Eisley.
Uh oh reepicheep. You asked for it. This is my specialty. Try: Deas Vail (though they're a bit more pop/rock), Lakes, States, The Honey Trees, The Civil Wars, Mumford & Sons, The National, Sufjan Stevens. Unfortunately, indie/rock is a super broad genre with lots of sub categories, so if you find one you like, it's easier to go forward and find new things.
Thanks Kate. I'll give them a listen.
Ruby: YES!! I'm a huge, huge, huge Lecrae fan. I went to a concert of his back in November... his lyrics are *so sound. And I don't mind his style either. Ahhhh!!!!! Good to know some other people have heard of him too. 😉
