The Pendragon: I've always wanted to like Sufjan Stevens, but I never did. I mean, he just never really stood out to me. But then last week I listened to "Come on! Feel the Illinoise!" and I loved it. It has a great time signature and a sort of melodic frenzy. I'll have to check out the songs you mentioned because I'm a fan.

Kate, that's so neat that you like "Come on! Feel the Illinois!" It's a great song. I didn't really like him when I first listened to him either. Some other good ones are "I Walked" & "Chicago". He's very different than most artists I like, but it makes his music special.

ILF: That's a fun song. I love Stump's voice.
I have been listening to the wonderful band Kye Kye nonstop lately. They have a dumb name, but they sound a bit like a female fronted Copeland with electronic effects. They defy classification and trying to describe them is hard, because they are just so good at song-writing.
According to Stephen Christian, the new Deas Vail record is due out Sept. 6. That is further away than I would like. Christian says it's phenomenal, so I'm very excited. All I know so far is that there is a song called "Sixteen" that should have gone out to radio recently and a song called "Quiet Like Sirens."
I've been recommending the Deitrick Haddon album Church on the moon. It includes slow praise song ("Well done"), pensive soul ("Gravity"), shake-your-speakers underground dance club ("Show stopper" ; "Power"), and even Motown ("Touch me") for your funk. Gorgeous album.
(The song "Fighting temptation" might not be suitable for little children, though.)
It's back! My humongous [technical term] study of What's behind "Left Behind" and random other stuff.

Leeland fans,
I think you all might be interested in knowing that they have already begun recording songs for their upcoming fourth album. I just recently found out and can't wait for it. In preparation I about their 2010, three song, EP. Majesty I already knew, sung by Delirious?. The other two are new to me, and I enjoyed both.
Does anybody else use Pandora? I started using it my last couple weeks of college and I love it! I listen to the Traditional Country channel most. I grew up on traditional/classic country: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Willie Nelson, George Strait, The Judds, and Martina McBride; and it's been great to here some of my old favorites that I haven't heard in forever.
Oh yes country music!!
I grew up on country music too, in fact we listened to so much of it that my interest has kind of waned over the years although I still love listening to old favourites Over here in Australia we listened to a lot of Slim Dusty I also heard a lot of Johnny Cash and various songs from most of those artists you mentioned. Have you heard any Australian artists such as Lee Kernaghan and Troy Caser-Daley.
Do you love "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes?
If so you might like to see my sister's dramatization of this poem through her photography!

I love country too, although I usually listen to more recent country. One of my favorites is Australian: Keith Urban. I love his music!

Kate, absolutely I will! I'm going with a friend who's a big fan too (and another friend who doesn't even really know who The Civil Wars are; the group will be interesting). I'm really looking forward to it!
I like "Amalgram" but I haven't heard much else by Halos. My music the past few months has been more old stuff as my budget hasn't let me get new things. Silly college student. I did get Lissie's album though, finally. Love her!
Aww, QS, that's a bummer! If they ever go near you again, go! (Of course, I haven't seen them live yet, so take my order with a grain of salt for now ).
Pendragon, yeah, Mumford and Sons are amazing.
Kate, I missed Kye Kye when they were up on Liisten. Now I'm gonna have to check them out, cause everything you just said about them makes me wanna like them!
I wanna hear the new Deas Vail album so bad! We do have something coming soon to whet our appetite though. I need to check out Farewell Flight and figure out if I wanna buy the whole thing or just the Deas Vail portion. I'm excited to hear some new songs of theirs though!
Julie, Pandora's nice. I prefer Last.fm though, since they "scrobble" a feature that tracks your music listening habits through iTunes or Windows Media Player and has a lot of other cool additional features you don't get with Pandora. But, if you *just* want an online radio station Pandora or Grooveshark are good.

LL: That is wonderful news. I had no idea that there was a split EP coming out. YAY! I keep meaning to check out Farewell Flight.
You absolutely must check out Kye Kye. I think you will really like them. You can listen to their whole album here (Just scroll through).
It's too bad being a poor college student huh? I am saving up to buy the Kye Kye album.
I just got Building 429's new CD "Listen To The Sound" - it is ADDICTING! I love the direction they too on this album and I have played it every day since i got it at least twice! it's amazing!
my favorite tracks are
"Listen To The Sound"
"Right Beside You"
"War Zone"

Well, I know that I mentioned that I liked Michael Buble a few pages ago, but; that has turned into a huge love. He is now one of my favorite singers. I'm not much of a fan of jazz, but he has such a lovely voice, and really nice arrangements. My favorite of his songs are Haven't Met You Yet (of course), You Don't Know Me, and Home.
My sister, DTR, has fallen crazily in love with The Innocence Mission, and I am overcoming my loathing. I really, really do not like her voice at all, and I think her music is pretty much boring; but some of her songs are super pretty!
And I realized just the other day, that I really, really, REALLY like Tiao Cruz.

Hrmph. I'm disappointed that it didn't end up being a spring release, but at least we have a date now. (albeit, a date that could still change...)
I've really been enjoying Green River Ordinance's music lately. "Out of My Hands" is a fantastic album!
In the past week, I've picked up "21" by Adele, "Disappearing World" by Fair, The Band Perry's self-titled, "Waking Up" by OneRepublic, and "Vagabonds" by The Classic Crime. With the exception of the Adele album, I actually bought all of them today (gift cards anyone?). I can't wait to give the rest a listen! Adele's album is quality, by the way.
I should probably pace myself but I also really want to pick up Parachute's new release, "The Way it Was".
One more thing: do you guys have any recs for $7.99 albums on iTunes? I'm trying to use up the rest of my store credit.
