*pops in* I haven't been here in forever...I wonder if anyone remembers me? Oh well.
MissA: If you're looking for Sherwood recommendations, I like "Worn", "Maybe This Time", & "No Better".
Some of my most recent obsessions:
Fair, I was really ambivalent about Disappearing World the first time I heard it a few months ago, but it has definitely grown on me! It's probably one of my favorite albums now! The piano is absolutely stunning on the entire album, I think.
Lecrae (wow, that's a pretty big jump from Fair to Lecrae... ), His new album, "Rehab" is his best work yet! The lyrics are much less cheesy & the music is much better than many other Christian Rap albums. Rehab sounds like it could be playing next to any mainstream Hip-Hop/Rap album except that the lyrics aren't total garbage.
Dave Barnes, his album "What We Want, What We Get" is really wonderful. Some of my favorite songs of his are: Chameleon, Someone's Somebody, & My Love, My Enemy.
Brooke Fraser, She is releasing her third album on Tuesday. I'm really excited! "Something in The Water" is the only song she has released from the album and it sounds really good. I am going to get to see her live in November. Which makes me even more excited for the new album!
I'm also going to see the Relient K/Deas Vail/Sherwood acoustic Christmas concert! I'm really excited since it will be only my second time seeing Relient K live!
Hi, there! Nice to see you again!
I'm STOKED about Brooke Frasher's new album! Can't buy it right now, but I can wait a few weeks...a little bird told me that an extended family member might get me and iTunes gift card for my birthday.
Btw, Jon Foreman, Keith Tutt II, and Aaron Redfield were all musically involved in it! Jon even co-wrote "Betty".
Ooh, I wanted to go to that tour so badly! Hope you have fun!
I really like that song by States on TAP's lastest podcast. I really need to check them out more.
And I've been listening to the free Sleeping at Last sampler I got on Noisetrade in moderation for a few months, but only very recently has their music "clicked" with me. "Timelapse" and "Umbrellas" are gorgeous songs. And I love the lyrics!
And I forget if I've said anything(just ignore this if I have ), but the Switchfoot concert I went too was excellent! They have so much energy live! And I love how they mix up new hits with old favorites. "Free" with the "Happy is a Yuppie Word" intro is genius!
And the guys were so incredibly sweet in person.
The Almost's performance was pretty good, but I probably would've enjoyed it more if the crowd wasn't going so crazy they made me fear for my life.
Thanks for the recs, HelloHurricane! I enjoyed all three of those. And yeah, of course we remember you. You should post more!
I'm glad you liked them! Really, I would recommend their entire album "QU". A Different Light is an okay album, but QU is a big improvement, I think. Haha, that's nice to know! Yeah, I'm hoping to make my posts more regular now...

Ah! Let me know what you think of the album when you get it! "Orphans, Kingdoms", "Crows + Locusts", "Who Are We Fooling (feat. Aqualung)", & "Flags" are my favorite tracks on the album, but really the entire track list is strong. Possibly my favorite release of the year.
I knew about Jon, but not the others. Thanks for the info! William Fitzsimmons also does a duet with her on the iTunes deluxe album called "You Can Close Your Eyes" that is beautiful!
Glad you got to go to the Switchfoot concert! It sounds awesome! They're next on my list of artists to see live.
I've been listening to Coldplay a lot lately--"Prospekt's March" is one of my favorite songs.

Long time no post.
Young the Giant released their new album. The lead singer, Sameer Gadhia is one of the best vocalists on the scene today, in my opinion, and he can make just about anything sound good. Unfortunately, I think the band sounded better before when they were a bit more raw and a bit less 60s influenced. The album is still good and it spun in my car for a good week and a half before I traded it out for something else, so you won't tire of it quickly. "My Body" is an incredible song, but the rest of the album is a lot more mellow.
I hope all of the Owl City lovers have downloaded his cover of "In Christ Alone." It's excellent and very uplifting. If you haven't, you can do so here.
The new HelloGoodbye album is excellent. It's been 4 years since the last full album, so I was expecting this album to be immature and outdated. Instead, it's smart, catchy, melodic, and lots of fun. I love their use of American vernacular in the lyrics and all the layered melodies and vocals. Lead singer Forrest Kline does a great job mixing up powerful and sensitive vocals that aren't polished to death by production. Major props to these high school anthem poprockers who transcended their genre while still maintaining their identity.
Seabird's Christmas EP is lots of fun. They've set classic Christmas carols to completely new melodies. All that's left is the words and the heart. "Go Tell it On the Mountain" is by far the most successful.
of boy! I'm gonna have to check Seabird's Christmas EP. Didn't know they had one. I love what I've heard from them so far, three songs I believe (definitely 2)

Two new Matt Thiessen/Relient K songs!
The first is called "What Can I Do?" You can watch a video of them performing it live here. I like it a lot!
The second is an Owl City song that Thiessen co-wrote. "Plant Life" I wish he would release it on iTunes as a single.

Question. I remember you all speaking of an upcoming Switchfoot CD. When is it due out?
^They said next summer, so probably next winter! You always have to overestimate the time with bands!
avatar by Flambeau!
thanks. By the sound of it, I had expected much sooner. good to know though.
I really like Jennifer Knapp. I miss the days when she sang Christian music. She has a new CD, but it's in Mainstream...

So I was looking at the billboard charts this weekend, Christian Songs/Albums
I noticed there was a new single at number 1: Chris August's Starry Night. Hadn't head the song ever so I was a bit intrigued. Have never listen to this guy's music actually.
Next thing I found, the song is in the Top 20 in the radio station I occasionally listen to, first time I hear him on it. (I used to listen to the station ALL the time, but stopped because it's always the same 10 songs playing- or so it feels that way). But an occasional listen I still do.
Seeing now that the song is in the station, I decided to go to youtube and give it a listen. I love it! Bought it, and have really been enjoying listening to it. It feels fresh to me.
Has anyone here heard the song, Starry Night by Chris August?
I love that song so much!! It plays on our CCM radio station, and it's one of my new fave's on there. I love it!! =)
And I'm loving Owl City more than ever . . Vanilla Twilight is so amazing, the music video is awe inspiring. And To the Sky is awesome, it's his new song that went with The Legend of the Guardians. Adam Young is genius.
I'm starting to like Hawk Nelson too.

Starry Night plays all the time on my two local Christan stations. It's awesome.
And Elanor, I'd have to agree with you on Owl City I love Vanilla Twilight and To The Sky, as well. I think they've played at least 40-45+ and 30+ times on my iPod, respectively. And I've had To The Sky on there for less then a month
This reminds me- I need more Owl City on my iPod. I've only got one album on there now.
HelloHurricane: Agreed, Brooke Fraser's new release is excellent. It really took me by surprise. I had heard her name thrown around, but I tend not to like her style of music, but her release is really wonderful. I've listened to "Who Are We Fooling" many times.
Also, thanks for the links. I especially like the "Owl City" song.
