Why is it so strange that someone has mentioned Lifehouse on NarniaWeb? They're not exactly a niche market band. I enjoy some of their songs, though most of their music is a bit mellow for my liking.
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
Their best song, imo, is "Something Beautiful." Gives me goosebumps and takes me up a notch, every time.
DITTO! My friend played it at her wedding right after the ceremony and everyone was running and dancing down the aisle- it was so awesome!
I wish Sky Sailing was his main project and OC the side one.
*gasp* I wish that too! Lol, I don't think he'd ever do that though. I don't think there will be more Sky Sailing CDs
Meet Brendan? Wasn't it meet Ruben? But I know Brendan is/was the keyboard guy.. I'm confused. And too lazy to check.
apparently they're both part of the band now.
Speaking of TAN, I already posted this in the Music of Narnia thread.. but seeing as you guys probably will care more about this, Mike Donehey posted this on his twitter:
"Reread "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" on the flight home Reminded of the hope of another country. Gonna try 2 write a song for the soundtrack"
What do you think? At first I was really excited, but I'm not sure how exactly TAN would fit.. If he means for the (if there is one) the inspired by CD, then great, but I'm not sure about the soundtrack.
*mouth drops open* if it's on the soundtrack I probably won't like it but I've been DYING for another inspired by so if it's on that CD it would probably be awesome. Hey if TAN is doing it, maybe RK will get a chance this time .
So, Switchfoot is releasing a new album? I'm excited, but it also makes me feel hugely guilty because I still haven't checked out more of their music outside Hello Hurricane and all the songs on their hits CD. Help, anyone? I know I've asked this before.
don't know what's on their hits CD but I reccomend
Gone
Meant to Live
This is Your Life
On Fire
Adding to the Noise
We Are One Tonight
Stars
Happy is a Yuppie Word
Oh! Gravity
Awakening
So. Right now I'm into Sky Sailing - just pre-ordered the CD. Like Ali, I like it better than Owl City. I wish Sky Sailing was his main project and OC the side one.
Yeah, me too! I was never that into Owl City, (please don't shoot me! ) but for some reason I really like Sky Sailing.

I think that would be AWESOME!!!! Mike is so cool! I really hope they do a song for VDT!

It depends on the kind of sound you like, slower or faster. Some good ones whether you like slow or fast music are
^the ones Ali mentioned above
More Than Fine
Stars
The Shadow Proves The Sunshine
The Blues
Daisy
Faust, Midas & Myself
Let Your Love Be Strong

^you didn't like Owl City either !? *gunfire* just kidding. Aslans Country said she didn't like it that much either. But I love them both, just Sky Sailing a little more .

On or off the soundtrack I would love this. Another music inspired by Cd would be great, but I'd also love it for the actual soundtrack- I'm not opposed to it at all.
^^ ditto! I would love to hear them do a song for Narnia!

Owl City is ok, I like Tidal Wave, Hello Seattle, and Fireflies, but none of the others have really grabbed me.
On Lifehouse's Smoke and Mirrors I love It Is What It Is, Halfway Gone, Here Tomorrow Gone Today, those are my favorites. Though there's isn't a song on there I don't like.
Glenstorm, I SO want Something Beautiful in my wedding! But I go to a rather conservative church, so I doubt that would go over well
Ooh, Switchfoot. Hello Hurricane is awesome, but for other songs, I guess it depends on your music style. I like the softer, "prettier" rock, not into the loud, screamy, "noisy" styles. For example, on HH, I like the acoustic version of Mess of Me much better then the original. But I'll add some, if there are some repeats sorry lol
Shadow Proves the Sunshine, Awakening, Dare You to Move (<3), Your Love is Strong, Gone, We are One Tonight, Yesterdays. I say Dare You to Move and Shadow Proves are just amazing, listen to them now lol

would you be interested in other reccomendations? B/c there are alot more that I like better than Hello Seattle and Fireflies (Tidal Wave is one of my favorites though, considering Matt Thiessen did vocals and writing on it ).

actually, we go to a very conservative church, so some people didn't like the music (she also played TobyMac's Made to Love) but it was her wedding. There are alot of songs that I want to play at my wedding that I'm sure won't go over well with everyone, but it'll be my wedding and my special day so I'm going to do it how I want and not around what everyone else likes .
For example, on HH, I like the acoustic version of Mess of Me much better then the original
eek really?! I can't stand the acoustic version! It ruined the song for me . I tend not to like acoustic versions of "rock-y-er" songs .
I think my iPod is screwy
I've had Skillet's Awake and Alive just over a week and it says I've already listened to it 51 times. Sure that's a reasonable amount of time for such amount of plays, I've done that in far less a time but it's a rare thing for me to give so many plays so quickly to a song. I know I've been listening to it, but I didn't realize it was this much
Which songs have you heard, if I might ask? I certainly like some of their songs more than others and I think their earlier stuff is better---there are only a couple of songs on their most recent album that I listen to/like. I also think that each of their cds has a different feel to it, so perhaps you've been listening to the wrong one?
Hm. Well, the CD I started with was called "Reasons Why"... One of the songs I liked musically all right, but all of them had rather--interesting lyrics. As in, I didn't like them much. I heard an instrumental song by them that I really liked though... So--who knows. Which CDs/songs would you recommend??
Their best song, imo, is "Something Beautiful." Gives me goosebumps and takes me up a notch, every time.
Breakfast, In the Belly of the Whale
Ooh, Nickel Creek. Queen Susan, are you more into vocals or instrumentals? I love their singing tracks a lot: Lighthouse, Hand Song, When You Come Back Down, Out of the Woods, Seven Wonders are all good.
Oh yes, I love "Something Beautiful." It's one of my favorite old-Newsboys songs. I still just like all their new stuff better. Musically. *shrug*
Breakfast? Catchy song... I used to like it more.
And oh, I've always liked In the Belly of the Whale. I really like quite a few of their old ones, many of the ones you've mentioned. I just prefer the more "rock/pop" feel to them now. Since I wasn't a diehard fan earlier, I wasn't too sad when they changed... *shrug*
Over all I like songs with vocals better probably, but if I don't like the lyrics, I prefer instrumental. Thanks for the suggestions though... We'll see if I can find them somewhere. I've heard good things about them, so I'm willing to keep trying.
I SO want Something Beautiful in my wedding! But I go to a rather conservative church, so I doubt that would go over well
Hehe.
-I've only heard "You and Me" by Lifehouse, and another song (that I know of) which I can't remember the title of... "Y&M" ^ plays on CCM stations for some reason... At least one or two CCM stations that I've heard. I didn't think Lifehouse was a "Christian" band...?
I don't think he'd ever do that though.
Yeah, I think Owl City is too big for him to just do something else more.
I know I've been listening to it, but I didn't realize it was this much
Hm. Could've you had it on repeat somehow?

that I am sure isn't it. I do shuffle it a lot though with genius, every weekday, at least 3 times or more. I guess it does at up
Queen Susan, I think "Reasons Why" is their "best of" cd---I don't know that I've ever actually heard it. As far as I can remember, they only have a handful of cds ("Nickel Creek", "This Side", "Why Should the Fire Die?", "Reasons Why" and a cd they did when they were really little---it might be called "Little Cowpokes" or something. ) out. I mainly listen to the first two ("Why Should the Fire Die?" has a few songs I like---First and Last Waltz is beautiful---but it also has a number of slightly objectionable songs and songs that I just don't really care about. I'm wondering if the song you referred to was off of that album originally; do you remember the title?), though those do have a few songs that I've pretty much given up on with trying to figure out lyric meanings. That said, the ones that PrincessMia mentioned I like as well. I also would recommend This Side, Sweet Afton, Robin and Marian (an instrumental), The Fox, and Green and Gray, off the top of my head. I don't really know your musical tastes, though, so...
God rest you merry, gentlemen,
Let nothing you dismay.

The first and final word on Lifehouse is the song "Everything." Go listen to it NOW. It's an incredible song. Part of it is a totally intimate description of being in the presence of God. Other parts escalate into a frantic chorus expressing an uncontrollable desire to seek after God. I never listen to it just recreationally--it's too special for that. I only listen to it when I want to use their pure and humble words/melody to enter into the same presence the singer of the song can't get enough of.
A very powerful skit was made that is accompanied by the song. Search youtube for "Lifehouse Everything Skit" and you'll find it. It has some sort of graphic/serious parts that are acted out (but they are real world things people face like alcoholism and self-harm). But the ending is all the more triumphant for that.
^ I've seen that Lifehouse skit several times, done by different people each time, definitely powerful.
Everything is by far their best song IMO, after that- the ones I like are:
You and Me, Broken, and Hanging By a Moment.
Hanging By a Moment!! I was trying to think of that one! Everything sounds familiar, but I can't say for sure. I'll listen to it once I'm off work.
My dad loved Sweet Afton, he'd play it over and over. I just thought it was ok.
Ooh, and Broken, like you mentioned!! I like trying to hum the harmony with it, so very beautiful.
What about Jars of Clay's CD Long Fall Back to Earth?
