greenleaf: "Ordinary World" is by far my favorite song off of that album. Good taste! I would recommend getting 'Til We See The Shore over Rocks into Rivers if you're only getting one Seabird album. RIR is good, but it doesn't compare to their debut. It was a bit of a sophomore slump to be honest.
Thanks! It's one of the songs that I play first whenever I put my iPod on shuffle so I know I get to listen to it I was leaning towards 'Til We See The Shore because I love the song "Rescue", but I wasn't sure (I'm way to indecisive ) thanks so much!
Any House of Heroes fans? I've been listening to their CD Suburba that comes out August 3 and it is incredible.
I only have one song "Leave You Now" from The End is Not the End, but it's probably one of my favorite songs I agree with you totally about their sound too, and I've only heard one song Where can you listen to songs from their new album? I could listen to one on their YouTube page, but I couldn't find any of the others.
greenleaf23: yeah I've heard of The Letter Black, and the songs I've heard are pretty awesome. I really need to listen to more of them .
I only got to hear a few of their songs, and I don't really remember what they were called, I just remembered they sounded a little like Flyleaf, so I thought you might like them What songs do you like?
greenleaf23: I LOVE the song "Ordinary World"! have you seen the music video?
yes I agree: it's so Narnia!
I didn't know it was out yet, thanks for the link! Haha, around 4:27 it reminds me of LotR too It's a really cool music video though, I love the effects they used.
Narnian1- Those three are my favorite songs from the album I hope you enjoy the CD more too

I found out yesterday that Mae's Goodbye, Goodnight tour is coming to my town in November. Basically, the Mae reunion is just for the tour, so it's sad, but it will be exciting to see them all together on tour. They're touring with Terrible Things and Windsor Drive (a really excellent Melee-esque band).
greenleaf: I write reviews for a music website which technically makes me "press" ( ) so I get to preview music like Suburba. Even before I got the preview, though, I heard "Elevator," "Independence Day For a Petty Thief," and "God Save the Foolish King" just around the internet (radio stations and whatnot) so I think you can still listen to those. The album comes out August 3, so the closer we get, they might make more songs available.
I've been enjoying Anchor & Braille lately. It's taken me a long time to get on the bandwagon, but I'm very happy to be on it. Stephen Christian's voice is so unique, it surprises me how well it works on soft, indie music. I can definitely hear Aaron Marsh's influence on the album in the instrumentation and whatnot.
narnia1: yay! I am glad you like it more! if you want another good song off that album, may I suggest this one:
greenleaf23: it looks just like LOTR in that bit! I wonder if that's what the picture is supposed to be..... ?

Just went to the link in youtube and heard the song in full. It's a nice song. I like it. But I'm not sure how much just yet. I will give it a few more listens to see if I'd like to buy it. But thanks for the recommendation, I will let you know if I buy it or not later. Again, I did like it- I just need to listen to the lyrics better.
Wow, I haven't been here in forever! My summer has been really busy, but its calmed down some now...
I only have one song "Leave You Now" from The End is Not the End, but it's probably one of my favorite songs I agree with you totally about their sound too, and I've only heard one song Where can you listen to songs from their new album? I could listen to one on their YouTube page, but I couldn't find any of the others.
The End is Not The End is a brilliant album! House of Heroes is just an amazing band all-around...You can hear God Save Us The Foolish Kings here. And you can get Independence Day For A Petty Thief (for freeeeeee! ) here. You can hear Elevator somewhere online, but I can't remember where...:/ (EDIT: I looked it up...You can hear Elevator on their MySpace page.)
I've been listening to Forget & Not Slow Down a lot lately...Probably my favorite Relient K album. Although I think there are fewer stand-alone songs on this album...like its better to just listen all the way through the album than just listening to one song and skipping to another artist...I'm not sure I explained my thoughts on that right.
I'm also loving Children 18:3's new album Rain's A Comin'...Someone might have mentioned this already, but Ethan Luck took the pictures for their cover art, which is pretty cool...Oh, Honestly! Is my favorite track right now...I'd love to hear an acoustic EP from them.
I also went to a Britt Nicole/Mikeschair/Building 429 and it was amazing! Britt Nicole was super energetic, and had a great set-list. Mikeschair was probably the best live, though...if you get the chance to see them live do it! They covered a DC Talk song (not Jesus Freak, but another popular song--I can't remember the name) and the drummer and another of the band members each took 2 drum sticks and beat on one drum, which created an awesome beat...It was awesome! I got to meet Mikeschair after the concert and they were really down to earth and nice (I was gonna ask them some questions and say how much I liked their music, but when I actually got up to them I sorta froze and just said my name and asked them to sign my poster... ). I don't really like Building 429 much, so I can't say a lot about them...Still, overall it was an awesome concert! On another concert-related note: I'm also hoping to see Relient K (first time seeing them live ever! I've wanted to see them live for a loooooooong time) at Six Flags on Aug. 7th! And I could possibly see Needtobreathe again in North Carolina in September....
A couple of other recommendations:
Ben Rector...I might have mentioned him before, but he has some great piano-driven pop music..."Associated" and "The Beat" are my favorite songs by him.
Sent By Ravens has a song ("New Fire") that the part of me that loves heavier rock is enjoying immensely...in that same vein is Secret and Whisper's "Warrior (Southern Arrowwood)"--great song!

Since I'm too lazy to read the rest of the thread, I'll just kind of ramble...
Any Mat Kearney fans here? He's officially my favorite artist. There honestly is not one of his songs that I do not like. "Closer to Love," "Runaway Car", "In the Middle", "Bullet," and "Never be Ready" are my personal favorites though.
I also got Switchfoot's "Nothing Is Sound". It's a great album, but Oh!Gravity's still my favorite. Stars, Lonely Nation, Politicians, The Setting Sun and Happy is a Yuppie Word are my favorite songs.
Oooh, now that is a great album. I love "Shadow Proves the Sunshine" and "Daisy." And isn't a"The Blues" on that album too? I forget sometimes.... but that song is awesome.

AJoanna, Mat Kearney: Closer to Love!! Great song!
greenleaf23: I love that song too! It is pretty catchy. It was actually playing before chapel will the campers were being seated. One of the staffers actually did a sort of "robot dance" during the begining. My cousin really liked it,so I'm going to let her borrow "Church Music". It makes me so happy that she likes the song.
I'm glad you like the SF album! I really like "The Fatal Wound" and the three that AJ listed. I've actually been listening to "Shadow Proves the Sunshine" a lot lately. I love the drum beats on the chorus.
Haha...Oh!Gravity...when I first bought it my mom wanted me to show it to her in the car. She looked at the cover and pointed and said,"Look! Skulls!" like it was so horrible. I thought she was being serious and was scared to death that she would fobid me from listening to them again. But thankfully she was only teasing. And when I showed her the picture of the guys behind the cd(she asked to see them.) she said,"They look old." She was probably just teasing me again.
On that album "Let Your Love Be Strong" is probably my favorite track.
I'm not sure which Switchfoot album is my favorite...
AJ: Yup,"The Blues" is on NIS.
I really meant to post this before now,but a couple weeks ago, Jon Foreman played a new song at an aftershow called "She Says(The Black-Eyed Blues)". It's so beautiful. I can't think of any other way to describe it. Oh,and it's been confirmed that this song will be on the next Switchfoot album Vice Verses! Listen to it here.
It's also been confirmed(finally!) that Switchfoot will be touring with Paper Route and The Almost this fall. SO AWESOME. Tour dates should be posted anyday now. I really hope I can go see them.
I'm still hoping that Switchfoot will eventually tour with Deas Vail and/or Needtobreathe.
Last month I got Switchfoot's The Early Years. Their older music is really good,IMO. My favorites are probably "Sooner or Later", "Let that be Enough","Only Hope","Company Car", "Learning to Breathe", "Chem 6A", "Ode to Chin", and "Life and Love and Why".
Me and my sis both agree that Jon looks like Matt Thiessen in "The Legend of Chin" lyric booklet.
"Hello Hurricane" has to be my favorite SF album. It has a wealth of beautiful songs. "Hello Hurricane," "Always," "Enough to Let Me GO," "Free," "Yet," and "Red Eyes" are my favorites.
*realizes she just listed almost the entire album*
Ah well. It really is an amazing album.
And my mom's not exactly a huge fan of contemporary music period... she doesn't do rock and such.
When we're in the car, we tend to listen to some good piano music. Jon Schmidt, David Nevue, Phil Coulter, Greg Maroney, Yanni, etc.
I realized I like two Killers songs: "Human" and "Spacemen." Do they have any other good songs. I honestly know nothing about them...
Oooh, and another great song is "Geraldine" by Glasvegas. I'm lovin' the lead singer's Scottish accent. Unfortunately most of their other songs are a little.... um... profane...
But "Geraldine" is still a cool song.

I've only heard "Human", AJoanna, (who hasn't? ) so I don't know if there's any other good ones.

Switchfoot's new album's on the horizon already?!?! *big grin* Their songs have gotten more complex with each CD, but I still love New Way To Be Human as much as Nothing Is Sound. Their life philosophy - "Life is short, live it well" - is just as inspiring as their tunes. They seem like very real guys who love Christ and would be cool to hang out with.
Lark, what Deas Vail songs do you like? I need new music...

Ben Rector...I might have mentioned him before, but he has some great piano-driven pop music..."Associated" and "The Beat" are my favorite songs by him.
Yes, yes, yes, and yes. I've never been one for the John Mayer-esque male singer/songwriter, but I love Ben Rector. You can get a wonderful free sampler from him on NoiseTrade. I adore the song "Hank," and "The Kill." I haven't heard "Associated," but I love "The Beat."
Thanks for posting the links to the HoH songs. And how exactly do you pronounce Mikeschair? I always say it "Mike's Chair" in my head, but I can't imagine that's how it's pronounced because that is a sort of silly band name.
AJoanna: The Killers had a huge change in sound from Hot Fuss to their next album that features "Human" (I'm not sure what it's called). Hot Fuss launched them into the mainstream with alternative rock with attitude. "Somebody Told Me" has some of the dumbest lyrics ever, but other songs like the classic "Mr. Brightside" are very good (though this song has some questionable lyrics). My favorite song is "All These Things That I've Done." You might recognize the famous bridge ("I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier") and the song is just overall excellent. But again, all these songs are very different from the more raw, almost indie-influenced "Human." I would also recommend keeping an eye on lead singer Brandon Flowers' solo project coming out soon. The one song I heard was more Keane-ish than The Killers, so it should be interesting.
HS: I'm not Lark, but I'll recommend a few DV songs. "Atlantis" has stood the test of time and emerged from the pack as my favorite song off Birds & Cages (and it's a stacked album, just about every song is top notch). I have no idea how familiar you with them, but my favorite from All the houses... is "Shoreline" and "From Priests to Thieves" from White Lights EP. I've come to appreciate their slower, more sensitive sound ("Puzzles and Pieces," "The Leaper") over their more energetic songs ("Cages," "White Lights"), so you might just have to see what you prefer.
The Jakes/Young the Giant (they changed their name) are making their first new song in 2 years "My Body" available for free tomorrow. I'm very excited because it is one of the catchiest songs I've heard in a long time, it's very '60s influenced, and is bursting with all of YTG's talent. In short, it's an excellent, excellent song.
Also, Joywave (who used to be The Hoodies) has posted more demos which are even more impressive than their first ones. I'm very much looking forward to their debut under their new name.

That's an awesome song! Thanks for the link! I can't wait for Vice Verses...Have they set a release date, yet?
Awesome! I hope they have a show somewhere near me.
Ahhhh, NTB+Switchfoot (with Deas Vail opening)=Best concert on earth. I hope that happens. Which means it probably won't.

I already have the sampler. Thanks, though. "Hank" is another one of my favorites! Along with "The Feeling." "The Kill" is great as well. Really I enjoy all of his songs.
You're welcome. Haha, you're pronouncing it correctly. It is a pretty odd name, you can hear them talk about how they came up with it here. If you don't feel like watching the whole video (even though its pretty hilarious... ) you can skip to 4:50. They gave a more serious answer on Air1, but I can't remember exactly what they said...
Has anyone heard of Matt Wertz? I love his song "Sing My Lonesome Way." You can hear it here, if you haven't already heard it.

HS: In addition to the songs Kate listed, I honestly enjoy all of Birds and Cages. But lately I've been listening to "The Things You Were", "Growing Pains",and "Sunlight" a lot. Hope this helps.
That's an awesome song! Thanks for the link! I can't wait for Vice Verses...Have they set a release date, yet?
You're welcome, I'm glad you like it!(welcome back, btw! ) Landofbrokenhearts.org has an MP3 of it in their media section. Oh,and if you're interested check out "Against the Voices." But this song's going to be on Vice Verses too,so if you'd rather wait until the album comes out to listen,I totally understand.
Sadly,no. Rumour says Summer 2011,but Hello Hurricane was re-scheduled a lot. It could be another year before Vice Verses gets released.
Awesome! I hope they have a show somewhere near me.

Tour dates should be posted anytime. Everytime I get online,I've been checking to see if they're up.
Awww...well,maybe we could start a petition or something.
I think it'll happen...eventually....'cause Sara Watkins did guest vocal on "Stones Under Rushing Water",and Jon's really tight with her and Sean. And when Deas Vail was up for a music video award,Tim tweeted about it,asking people to vote for them.
I think it would be so rad if SF and NTB toured together because both bands have incredibly talented songwriting brothers.*coughmaybetheycouldevenwriteasongtogethercough*
Has anyone heard of Matt Wertz? I love his song "Sing My Lonesome Way." You can hear it here, if you haven't already heard it.
Nice! I really like this song. Matt Wertz's voice is really good, too.
Wow... it's been a long time since I last posted here! mainly cause there was nothing "musically" new going on. Except for now!
So, a couple of things:
1. Mike Donehey is on a new Jars of Clay song! YEAH!!! And it sounds really cool! You can listen to it on their myspace here: http://www.myspace.com/jarsofclay
2. Jon Foreman is doing a song for something in San Diego called "The Song Project". The song is called 'Unbroken', & I really like it, but his voice doesn't sound very good. It sounds really...scratchy? IDK how to put it, but it just doesn't sound as good as before. Maybe he did it just for that song, I don't know. I like the lyrics though, & the tune is pretty good. You can listen to it here: http://www.thesongproject.com/theShelter.html
3. Sean Watkins of Nickle Creek is also doing a song! It's called "For the Sender", & it is SO beautiful! You can listen to it here: http://www.thesongproject.com/theLetter.html
4. A new video from 10th Ave: Meet Brenden! Their newest member... I know that change is good...*sniff sniff* BUT I STILL MISS SCOTT!! Well...*wipes away tears* moving on.... Here's the vid: http://www.hearitfirst.com/artisthome.a ... st_id=3166
5. I got a new song that my sister heard on the radio called "Waves" by Josiah James, & it is just amazing! It's so beautiful! He's not very well known ( ) but he has some really good stuff! Here's his website: http://www.josiahjames.com/
