Kat: Why so much disdain for "indie"? I'm glad you discovered Acceptance. Aren't they wonderful? "Different" is my favorite and it's probably the pseudo-emo kid in me, but I cried the first time I heard it.
I'd like to suggest an old favorite of mine. If you're looking for something catchy and dance-like, Jonezetta is the best of the best. I know most of you probably aren't looking for something like that, but you should really check out the album Popularity. They are top notch. Their second album was disappointing, but the first is excellent.
Lark & Libby, okay, yeah I don't get that channel... I was wondering if it was maybe streaming online somewhere. I'm sure clips will get up on youtube at some point though.
Kate, haha, I just don't like using the term because I'm afraid I won't use it correctly... since it can be really vague sometimes. And it seems like a lot of the time people call bands indie that aren't really indie (like Coldplay. What? They're on Capitol/EMI, so it can't be because of that, can it? Are they called indie because they sound like other bands that actually aren't on a major label?) I guess I just don't understand exactly what it means, so I'm afraid to use it
And Different is so beautiful. I love Jason's voice in the chorus. I went to look up its music video on youtube and a bunch of people had just commented on it because apparently a couple days ago Joe Jonas linked to it on his twitter
I've listened to some Jonezetta and I liked it, but I don't remember if it was music from their first or second album. I'll check them out again
A friend gave me all of her old Jump5 CD's and I'm re-discovering my love for them. Does anyone else like Jump5?
^Sorry, not me. I used to like their stuff...years ago.
I'm sorry you guys didn't get to watch the Doves, but you honestly didn't miss much,IMO. But if/when it does get on youtube, there's this one part at the beginning where it shows the audience,I'd like you to see. In the bottom left is Amy Grant,a row behind her and to the right is Brandon Heath, and behind Brandon's head on the right, you can see a blurry Mike and half of Jason. I guess you could say I freaked out a little.
I really need to look up more of Matt Hires' stuff. I love "(I Don't Wanna)Hang Up My Rock n' Roll Shoes",but I'd really like to hear more of his music.
I've been getting into a lot of Jon Foreman's solo stuff today. He's incredible!
EDIT: I just checked my e-mail and Jeff said(in the offcial TAN e-mail,of course ) "Strong Enough to Save" was/is #1 on the Christian iTunes chart!!
Oh,and Mike is currently reading The Love that Satisfies by Christpher West.
^Sorry, not me. I used to like their stuff...years ago.
ditto
EDIT: I'm not sure when, but I just checked my e-mail and Jeff said(in the offcial TAN e-mail,of course ) "Strong Enough to Save" was/is #1 on the Christian iTunes chart!!
just saw that, so awesome! I helped get it there! I'm not going to buy the next two singles though, since I bought the CD . Speaking of which, I'm so glad I did. I was listening to Mike's audio blogs and some of their music last night and I was sobbing. What he said just struck a chord in me and it was breaking my heart. I listened to all their music today and yesterday and I've been playing it almost constantly. I had been depressed yesterday b/c I was thinking how alot of people don't like me and make fun of me and I was really upset and downhearted. Then I was listening to Hold My Heart (acoustic) and started crying and then Beloved (acoustic) came on next and I started bawling. I was like "God loves me no matter what, so who cares what other people think?!" Now I know why you love their music so much, Kat. Beloved is like on of my favorite songs ever now. I've always liked it but it never affected me like it did last night. I'm SO glad I preordered their CD last night, or I would have just spent the whole night depressed and not liking myself. The audio blogs and the music just hit all these different spots I've been struggling with. So I'm really happy with TAN . Btw is anyone going to any of their CD release shows? There's one four hours away from me but my parents won't let me go . When's the drawing for that contest? Oh and this made me laugh
Jason is currently eating a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup accompanied by a
nice cold glass of organic milk"Mmm, nothing better at 11 o'clock at night!"
totally agree with that ! Reese's are like my fave food ever and I'm in LOVE with milk (although unfortunately I'm allergic to it ) !
I am so glad that Tenth Avenue North's song "By Your Side" won song of the year at the Doves! yay! at least something good happened this year!

hey y'all, looooong time, no post!
Lately i've been listening to a lot of The Classic Crime, Imogen Heap, and Silverstein. On the classical side of things, i've been obsessed with Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
edit: I was in Nashville on the night of the Dove Awards. I was even near the venue. I didn't realize that until later.

So,I'm putting off buying for me once again. I changed my mind from "Oh! Gravity" to "Cities" though because I don't have any Anberlin on my iPod except for the free purevolume downloads.
REALLY wanting "Oh! Gravity" though. Ahhh....
lucky!!! I want Cities so much!
^you put my thoughts into words.
lol . Oh and for more Anberlin recs I don't really have any. Haven't listened to much myself . Have you heard Godspeed? Or Haunting? I like those...also they're cover of True Faith .
Kat: that song is sooooo addictive/catchy! I've been listening to it all day- LOVE the intro .
It's been a while since I posted on here, but I just had to get on and vent my excitement over Tenth Avenue North's song being #1 Christian song on the iTunes chart!!
Lark, I didn't see all of the Doves live, but I want to see some more of them! I'll probably watch it on YouTube or somewhere else on the internet. I can understand why you freak out when you saw them. What's really funny if you watch the Dove Awards for 2009 when Tenth Avenue North won New Artist of The Year, Jeremy Camp was totally rooting for them! It was the most hilarious thing ever. He like got all intense right before they announced the winner. My sister and I thought that was great.
One really good Christian artist who I've recently started listening to is Phil Wickham. He's very similar to most praise artists, except he's more rock/pop style. And if you like Tenth Avenue North, you should check out the band Sidewalk Prophets. They have some really good songs and I believe they won new artist of the year at the Doves, which I was really pleased with.
I'm getting fed up with our local Christian station, because they play plenty of older Switchfoot songs like Dare You To Move and Meant To Live, which I love, but they hardly ever play their songs from Hello Hurricane. I know they've released them, they just don't play them! I think I'm going to send them an email complaining about it. Just kidding, but I sometimes feel like it, especially when they play Skillet, Red, Relient K, and plenty of other rock bands. *sigh*

Lark: JF's solo work is awesome. Some of it I like better than Switchfoot. I only have the Fall EP, but I've been thinking about getting another one... I just can't decide which!
Oh, and in your earlier post, you mentioned getting Cities instead of Oh! Gravity. I fully support this choice Oh! Gravity is awesome, but I don't own it (I've listened to it several times) and I like Cities better.
Glenstorm! I'm so glad you appreciated TAN's audio blogs and acoustic songs. They are definitely a really special band and I wish the Christian music industry had more people like Mike.
And I'm glad you liked the Acceptance song. They're so awesome. Check out some of their other stuff too if you have the time. I think Phantoms could easily become one of my favorite albums ever. Jason Vena has a great voice, and it's exactly my taste.
Katy, good to see you in here! And your music choices are awesome. TCC and Imogen Heap are amazing, and (believe it or not) I've been listening to some Silverstein lately. Them and Emery are two of the only post-hardcore bands that I've really given a chance , and I don't even know why, because I don't like screaming that much... I guess I just like the punk influences.
Dani, I know what you mean. Actually our local Christian station only ever plays one SF song This Is Your Life. Kind of a weird one to pick too, because it's more "vague" than some of their other singles, and our station really doesn't ever play songs that aren't 100% explicitly Christian, haha.
First of all,I got new last.fm account! I'm deleting my old one. Here's my new one: http://www.last.fm/user/MakeitaMelody
Ali:Yeah, the blogs are awesome! I love what Mike said about propitiation. I told my uncle and aunt and they thought it was the funniest thing ever.
Lucky? I have to buy a Chris Tomlin cd for my mom first, what's lucky about that?!?
Hi,Katy! It's nice to meet you!(I love you siggy, btw.)Wow,that's so cool about being in Nashville the exact night as the Doves. I've always wanted to go to Nashville. I bet you have a blast, even without the Doves!
Dani:I didn't watch the Doves last year. I wasn't even a TAN fan last year. That's so funny about Jeremy Camp! I'll have to look for that on youtube later.
Kat:Thanks for the support. lol (I still haven't gotten over "..or we could share Plan B". You crack me up! )
Have you thought about getting Limbs and Branches instead of another EP? It has selected songs from all four EP's on it.
Lately i've been listening to a lot of The Classic Crime
awesome! I have been obsessed with their music lately too!
I have become really obsessed with the songs "Abracadavers", "The Fight", and "Who Needs Air"!

I took some time today to listen to the best rock band that ever lived: The Beatles. I have no idea how those men wrote all the incredible songs they wrote, but music would be totally different today if they hadn't made music. "Hey Jude" is my favorite. I grew up listening to One, their greatest hits, and I am very thankful that my parents introduced me to the greats so early on.
Kat: Ah, I see. I usually use "indie" to describe a certain sound. I actually probably wouldn't say that DV is indie, but I don't really know how to classify them. Freelance Whales, on the other hand, would definitely be indie.
I agree, I love the lead singer of Acceptance's voice. I think that the band could have been really great. It's too bad they broke up. It's especially sad that the singer is the one who's no longer in the industry. One of your favorite albums of all time, huh? I'd like to see a list of those.
Well, hello there Katy! Welcome back! It's good to see you. It's always lovely to see old faces back. Have you been listening to TCC's Vagabonds? I think it's pretty good. My favorite songs by them are from their Seattle EP though. Their acoustic chops are incredibly impressive. And of course, Imogen is wonderful.
I've been listening to a lot of The Candle Thieves lately for the site. They're pretty good. I don't know how to classify them, but I think idie-synth-pop would be accurate. Music these days is so confusing! Their music is in general very sweet, catchy, and strikingly classic sounding. They also have British accents.
I'm so excited! The Chris Tomlin CD I'm getting for my Mom is only $5 on Christianbook.com! So,I'm getting Blueprints for City Friendship(Anberlin's first three CDs) for myself, and the shipping rate stays the same!
I just love finding good deals, hehe.
This morning it was announced that Bryan and Stephen Laurenson (two ex-members of Copeland) have teamed up with Mindy White (ex-member of Lydia) to form a new band called States. You can check them out here. I think that they're actually very good, as they should be with the members of two such awesome bands teaming up. I'm having a hard time not feeling betrayed though that these two Copeland members would decide to leave Copeland and do this. I have no idea if this band had any bearing on that decision, but Mindy White doesn't have the musical genius that Aaron Marsh does, or the awesome voice. It looks like whoever is writing their songs is doing a good job, but I miss Copeland way to much to feel very happy about this.
Lark: That's a good find! I think you'll find that Cites is by far the best, but all three of those albums are pretty good.
