It's been forever..
I've been lurking on here (mostly seeking out music recommendations ) but haven't had the time to sit down and write anything.
Erm. Let's see.
I can't WAIT for The Light Meets the Dark. I've been listening to the previews, and it sounds like it's got some really good stuff. More.. variety, I guess, from Over and Underneath. Less than a month.
Right now I can't stop listening to Anberlin's "The Unwinding Cable Car", and I keep trying to find another song of their's that I'll like, but in vain. It weird. I can't find anything remotely similar in style.
I finally bought Hello Hurricane, and I love it. Especially Yet and Sing it Out. Sing it Out is beautiful.
*Tries to think of something else to say*
I hope to come on here more often.

Not that I heard...but they may have played it after I left...Which is sad b/c I love that song, too! (LOL! I never thought about that! That is crazy! Maybe "Hurricane" just sounds better than "Tornado"...? )
Yeah, it was amazing! WTB is probably my favorite song from the album (although, my favorites tend to change... )
Aw,that is sad. Well, they'll probably play it Saturday/tomorrow. (Probably. Who'd wanna buy an album called "Hello Tornado"? lol)
"Girl Named Tennesse" was my first favorite, and then I went through stages with the rest of them. It's kind of hard for me to pick an absolute favorite though because the album's just so good!!
None of the members played piano. It must have just been someone they tour with...He was good though, he played "Girl Named Tennessee" really well in particular! I hope you get a chance to see them sometime!
Hmm...I wonder who plays piano on the album then...maybe it's the same guy,but the cd says that Bear and Bo write all the songs. I guess I was expecting one of them to.
The piano on that song(and the rest of the cd) is so great!!
Thanks! I hope so too. They must've just come to my state and I didn't know because they seems to be moving West--away from me.
Btw,did you hear that NTB is supposed to tour with Seabird? Maybe I'll get to see them then!
One more thing. I didn't know this until last night, but Sara Watkins from Nickel Creek is the female vocal on "Stones Under Rushing Water"!
(btw, speaking of that concert, I found a video on Facebook of Matt Hires [can't recommend him enough. ] singing "Hang Up My Rock'n Roll Shoes" Its actually pretty good quality. Here. )
Woah! He is good! And not just good! Good live!
Thanks for the link! I was wanting to listen to some of his music. Wow,I'm just so impressed! Now I know why you like his music so much.
I just fanned him on facebook. It's sad that he only has 72 fans.
My Mom has pretty much agreed--but I'll have to pay for my ticket ($100, which isn't so bad since I have a great Summer job.) I really hope you get to see TAN/Toby!
I need a summer job. I was supposed to get one last year, but that fell through.
Glad you get to go! And thanks. I thought maybe my group could go both days, but we only have enough money for one because church camp is so expensive. I'll post here once I know for sure which day we're going.
So cool to hear that Brandon Heath has a working title for his new album: "Leaving Eden" (for those who didn't read the link posted by Lark. )
Yeah!! I'm so excited! Does he have any new singles on the radio?(I barely listen to the radio at all anymore. It's quite sad. )
It's kind of ironic that "Sore Eyes" is one of my favorites on "What If We" because Jars of Clay is on that song.

That's just what got my attention...In other news ( ), my Mom told me she wouldn't take me to the NTB concert on Friday...but hope was not lost! Because I noticed that they have a show in Alabama on Saturday, which happens to be where my one of my sisters lives! So I asked her if she would go with me and she said yes! So I'm driving to Alabama this weekend.
Yay! You're so lucky you have an older sibling who's willing to go with you. Have fun!!
Wait,driving?? *envy*
Btw, Lark, I'm so psyched to hear He Is We is releasing an album! I like their music!
You like them too? Yay! You saw the link that I posted for 12 free songs right?
Oh,and I don't know if I said anything on this forum, but I did check out Future of Forestry way back then, and I just wanted to let you know that I love their music!
I was excited to hear that Tenth Avenue North won song of the year with "By Your Side"! They came in second place last year, so it's neat that the song is even more popular this year!
YES!! (I really don't like this smilely's eyes. He's looks ready to eat you! lol) I was really thrilled about that. I'm hoping that TAN eventually wins Group of the Year.
Sing it Out is beautiful.
*agrees*
And for Anberlin suggestions, try "Paperthin Hymn". It's so sad,but one of my favorites.
I hope you'll come around more often too!
Owl City has a music video for "Umbrella Beach"! When did that happen? I didn't even realize he had one 'til I was just browsing on iTunes last night...
Here it is.
WAAAAAHHH!!! So, my friend and I looked up touring dates for Owl City and it turns out they were like an hour away from where we live like a week ago! *smacks head* Why didn't I think to look earlier? I feel really stupid and I'm really sad...
NO!!! Alaskans can't enter CBD contests.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go cry.
That is terrible!! Perhaps if I win, I can take you along with me! It is a trip for two, right?
I finally bought Hello Hurricane, and I love it. Especially Yet and Sing it Out. Sing it Out is beautiful.
Hello Hurricane has got to be one of my favorite albums ever! It's definitely one of the best Switchfoot albums. Sing it Out is so pretty. I love it, because there aren't many other Switchfoot songs like it. And Yet is one of my all-time Switchfoot songs. Haha, I say that, but all their songs are really my favorite...
Oh! It looks like I'm not the only one who's totally hyped about Tenth Avenue North's new "Light Meets The Dark" album!!! Have any of you seen the video journals behind the new songs? They've got some really amazing messages! I love how they don't just sing, but they really, really do all they can to get the message out there!
YES!! I was really thrilled about that. I'm hoping that TAN eventually wins Group of the Year.
That would be amazing if they did! And they totally deserve to win.
Well, I'll be off now! God bless!

I got to see Owl City in Feb. It was an awesome show. I was lucky because it was in a college bar instead of in a stadium, but they allowed me in.
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!
Jill+Tirian! Let there be Jilrian!
yay! at least Red won for their CD! I love that CD! it's awesome!
I am disappointed with the Dove awards winners this year! ack!

^I have mixed feelings about them. The results weren't superb, but they weren't entirely terrible.
Anybody here like Freelance Whales? I've really been getting into their music lately.
Also,Sister1 officially hates Matt Thiessen for writing "May the Horse be With You".
I got a chuckle out of this today.
Yeah, who is Ruben Juarez??
Funny how things have changed.
I still can't believe Casting Crowns won Artist Of The Year. I mean, I like their music, but they beat Tobymac, Skillet, and TAN! grrr.....

AC: Try "Inevitable." It's definitely very beautiful and more like "Unwinding Cable Car" than many others.
Lark: Yes, Freelance Whales is one odd group of musicians but they make wonderful music. Irresistible almost.
May I suggest a new band? They are called Quiet Science and the first time I heard them they reminded me of Copeland, Relient k, and Deas Vail all at once along with their own unique sound. Now they don't really make me think of any of them, but they're pretty good. I got to review the album and I love a lot of the songs that aren't available yet, but maybe you'll like what they do have to offer at this point. I posted a review today at The Album Project.
Lark: Yeah, I believe Kate and I both like Freelance Whales, as she was the one who recommended them to me
Aslans Country: Inevitable is another Anberlin song of slowish pace that you might prefer.
So I've kind of missed a lot in this thread... but for the important things : I am in love with Acceptance! I got Phantoms last night. It is really quite good. And I think extremely accessible (in other words you all should get it).
Edit: Haha, AC, nevermind me, Kate was posting at the same time and she just suggested Inevitable as well.
And for Anberlin suggestions, try "Paperthin Hymn". It's so sad,but one of my favorites.
Thanks, I did, and I love it now. It's not really similar to Unwinding Cable Car, but I somehow managed to like it.
I love the part where he sings "I thought you said forever" and then on top of that comes "over and over".
And thanks for suggesting "Inevitable", guys. You're right, I do like it because it's similar.
*thinks that perhaps there is a way for her to like Anberlin, still*
Hello Hurricane has got to be one of my favorite albums ever! It's definitely one of the best Switchfoot albums. Sing it Out is so pretty. I love it, because there aren't many other Switchfoot songs like it. And Yet is one of my all-time Switchfoot songs. Haha, I say that, but all their songs are really my favorite...
Yeah me too - I really like every song on it, I don't really have to skip any, except maybe Bullet Soul, but it's okay. Well, I wouldn't really know about best Switchfoot albums, because it's the only one I own in it's entirety , but I love it.
In music class at school, we had to pick a song to figure out how to play by ear, and I chose Yet. So now I'm kind of sick of it. But it sounded great on the piano.
Oh! It looks like I'm not the only one who's totally hyped about Tenth Avenue North's new "Light Meets The Dark" album!!! Have any of you seen the video journals behind the new songs?
Absolutely, you're not.
Yeah, I love the video journals - I wish they'd hurry up with the last 2, although I guess they're trying to stagger them.
I watched "You Are More" being played live on Youtube, and it has an amazing message - can't wait to hear the studio version.
They've got some really amazing messages! I love how they don't just sing, but they really, really do all they can to get the message out there!
Erm.. I can't think of anything more substantial to say than "I agree".
Have you read Mike's blogs for "Over and Underneath"?

Well,
I gave in and saw the winners for the GMA Dove Awards. I didn't want to, but I went on two sites and the winners were posted on the front page.
So after knowing a few I couldn't resist anymore. I was surprised to find the winners in a front page of anything, Why don't they just air them live like the Oscars and Globes? That'd make more sense.
Anyway:
Artists of the Year: I am pleased with the winner.
Group of the Year: I'm a little disappointed.
I love the group don't get me wrong, but
Female Vocalist of the Year: Very pleased!
Male Vocalist in the Year: Not thrilled.
Again I love who won but
EDIT: btw, I am surprised Matthew West didn't get nominated for The Motions, which was one of the best, if not THE best, song last year! It even got him his first Grammy nomination!!
On other news: On April 21 it was announced that MercyMe broke records:
1. I Can Only Imagine became the first christian single to reach 1 million downloads. First Platinum song on Digital domain.
2. "Simultaneously, their last studio record, All That Is Within Me, received RIAA Gold certification, continuing to place MercyMe in the unique position of having had all of their studio recordings receive gold or platinum status."
Yeah me too - I really like every song on it, I don't really have to skip any, except maybe Bullet Soul, but it's okay. Well, I wouldn't really know about best Switchfoot albums, because it's the only one I own in it's entirety , but I love it.
The only two Switchfoot albums I own are Hello Hurricane and The Beautiful Letdown, but I've at least heard all the other ones. I don't like to listen to Bullet Soul a lot either, but I don't mind it.
Ooo and you're playing Yet by ear? Fun! Hehe, I can see how you would get sick of it though...
I got to see Owl City in Feb. It was an awesome show. I was lucky because it was in a college bar instead of in a stadium, but they allowed me in.
Sweet! I really want to see them live. *sniff* I feel really stupid for missing them.
Absolutely, you're not.
Yeah, I love the video journals - I wish they'd hurry up with the last 2, although I guess they're trying to stagger them.
I first heard You Are More at a Tenth Avenue North concert for their tour in the fall. I still haven't forgotten the song. *sigh* I can't wait until it comes out!!
Have you read Mike's blogs for "Over and Underneath"?
I've read most of them, I think. They're really, really good! Whenever I read his stuff, I think that he could be a pastor. I think it's so awesome that they focus their ministry on young people and teenagers, because that's the part of ministry that seems to be most lacking in today's culture.
narnian1, I'm glad you got to watch the Dove Awards! I was most disappointed with the group of the year. In my opinion, I think that someone else should have won. I hope Tenth Avenue North wins next year! They really deserve the award.
Hmm, so I've heard a lot about Deas Vail, but I haven't heard much of their music. How would you describe them? I know Relient K supports them a lot and a lot of my friends who like Relient K like Deas Vail. Are they similar at all with Relient K?

Heh--usually takes me a few months to finally set aside a few minutes to listen to some of the music you guys are always talking about. Right now I'm listening to "The Unwinding Cable Car" and I just listened to "Paperthin Hymn." All music I listen to seems to grow on me.. If I don't hate it/dislike it the first time I hear it, eventually I'll probably really like it or love it. If I listen to it enough. Anyway--so far I'm liking Anberlin pretty well.

There's a music video? I always go for lyrics videos because otherwise I can't make out what they're saying.

I can't get into Deas Vail.. I've tried, but I think it's just that his voice is too high for my liking.
