^ Haha, I think just a few of us are... Lark, and The Pendragon, and myself. Glenstorm tried to join but it won't let her log in I sort of dragged them (willingly! haha) into joining the SF boards after I had already known them on here for a little while
The other boards can be much more random, definitely. But I do like how there are separate threads over there for pretty much every single band in existence
I haven't heard of Pop goes Punk, but I have listened to some stuff from Punk Goes 80's. Very entertaining.
I saw Tenth Avenue North and Casting Crowns a couple days ago. Caleb and Will Chapman (Steven Curtis Chapman's sons) opened. They played a few songs and I just felt so bad for Will (he was involved in the accident in their family if you know what I mean). Casting Crowns, while I'm not a big fan of them anymore, sounded pretty good
They don't even like Sahara. They say it's about his girlfriend, not God.
Well eh, I would tend to agree with your friends... It could either be Matt talking to his ex, "don't ever turn me loose, even when I turn my back" meaning don't let me go even when I'm unfaithful. Or it could be him talking to God. Either one really.
Steven Curtis Chapman's son. yeah tragic accident. How someone doesn't like Casting Crowns "anymore" I will never understand They are among my favorites!! And they just released their second single of their latest Cd, by far my favorite of the Cd: If We've Ever Needed You, it just debuted at #32 in the billboard christian charts.
Sahara I love, probably my favorite of that RK cd. I hear it, and to me it's clearly talking about God, particularly because of the "don't ever turn me loose, even when I turn my back" line. But I can understand the double meaning because of the rest of the songs on the cd.
TAN was great. They played their popular songs along with 3 new ones (Strong Enough to Save, Healing Begins, You Are More) It was interesting though because in addition to Ruben they had another guy playing with them who did the keys and sometimes guitar. So they had 5 guys on stage. Interesting. I don't know who he is, but I guess he's just a touring member. And I'm beginning to think Ruben is just a touring member too since he isn't in any of their promo photos now. Casting Crowns, while I'm not a big fan of them anymore, sounded pretty good - close to their studio sound. And all of their vocals were definitely very strong. Their set was terribly long, and TAN's was rather short, so I was a little sad about that, but oh well.
His name is Brendan.
You're sounding like Travis (I keep grouping all of my various message-board friends into one large category so I can't help but mention people from one board on another )
F&NSD really isn't pop punky at all compared to their older stuff. It's just a good rock album.
Haha,why thank you!
I agree wholeheartedly.
Does anyone know if Relient K will be shooting music vids for songs on F&NSD?
Also,I wahtched the music vid for "Chap Stick,Chapped Lips, and things Like Chemistry" It was a little creepy/weird.
EDIT:"Birds and Cages" just came!!!
Aaah just lost my whole post b/c I pressed Ctrl+R instead of Ctrl+T . An attempt at a rewrite...
Glenstorm, haha, I have to disagree with you on Deas Vail being better than Mae. Although they're quite similar relatively speaking, their music is actually pretty different and I really love both styles. There are certain things about each that I prefer. Lately I've been listening to a lot of stuff from Desination: Beautiful and Singularity since I hadn't listened to them much, mainly just The Everglow.
Oh, so did you have to pay for the cover of Dawn Escapes, or you got it just from points? I don't visit NRT enough
aww really? I think Deas is better , but I am IN LOVE with Seasons- soooo beautiful . Of course I just started listening to Mae so I won't like them as much as my tied-w/-TRS-for-2nd-favorite-band . I almost don't like that I'm liking Mae though- I have too many CDs to buy as it is! Too many good bands out there! Aaaah!
No I didn't have to pay for DE- everything on there is payed for with your points. You really should go on there. I thought you liked free stuff .
Sounds like you had fun at the concert but...
How someone doesn't like Casting Crowns "anymore" I will never understand
ditto...
Well eh, I would tend to agree with your friends just because the rest of the album is pretty obviously about a girl. But actually. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be able to work for either perspective - Matt probably left it rather vague for that very reason. It could either be Matt talking to his ex, "don't ever turn me loose, even when I turn my back" meaning don't let me go even when I'm unfaithful. Or it could be him talking to God. Either one really.
I realize that practically the whole CD is about her but that doesn't mean "Sahara" is. What about this line "I am not alone, I'll be all right, just take these bones and bring them back to life." He's a Christian. I don't he believes that his girlfriend can revive him like that. Plus I thought you didn't believe he cheated, besides, we can be "unfaithful" with God too. Sorry if I'm being too strong, I love this song so I tend to get overprotective of it .
Haha about my shirt in Awakening - yeah, you guys are very observant It is indeed the TRS one.
Haha I knew it! I saw the lovely blue color and I'm like "that's it!" . I've been wearing that shirt everyday since the concert, except today b/c my mom said I'm not allowed to wear it anymore...at least not for a while .
Glenstorm, (again ) Haha! Maybe Tara was confused because when my mom and I were talking with her my mom referred to me as Katherine. She always calls me Katherine, but my friends call me Kat.
lol . That's like my mom always calls me Alissandra but most people online and alot offline call me Ali .
Glenstorm tried to join but it won't let her log in
I just tried again yesterday three different times. It's very upsetting. I WANT TO JOIN!!!! . I got an email saying I should contact an admin but you can't unless you have an account .
But I do like how there are separate threads over there for pretty much every single band in existence
NRT does .
Does anyone know if Relient K will be shooting music vids for songs on F&NSD?
Also,I wahtched the music vid for "Chap Stick,Chapped Lips, and things Like Chemistry" It was a little creepy/weird.
Jon said something about doing something in this vid. He doesn't know if they will yet
Eh that video was a little weird, but I love Matt's face at 0:39 . Plus it's WAY better than Pressing On .
EDIT:"Birds and Cages" just came!!!
yay! I hope you like it .
Bryce is so cute in this vid
and I love the music video for "Hills and Valleys"- it reminds me of his preformance live . Seeing him do it live made me love the song
Hello everyone! So, because of school my posts will probably continue to be rare until the middle of May (so happy school's out soon!).
Anyway, I'm going to see Needtobreathe (and Matt Hires! ) today! So excited! Hopefully I'll have time to post about it tomorrow.
Some new music I've been enjoying is:
Jonsi (thanks for the recommendation, Kate! ) is phenomenal! I love the really carefree, happy vibe his music gives off...
Castledoor is a great indie/rock/pop band that features two former members of the (disbanded) Christian boy band Plus One (not sure if anyone here knows of them...I only like their last album, and a Christmas album they released.) I'm sorry to say that It seems they're no longer Christian (just the feeling I got from one of their interviews...), but their music is quality, and Nate Cole has a really lovely voice... If you decide to check 'em out, I recommend Burn The Maps, Hidden Treasure, and Fifth Tambourine. Castledoor (PureVolume page).
And, in case anyone is interested, House of Heroes has announced their album title (Suburba) and the release date is Aug. 3! Mark your calenders! Its gonna be epic!
Icon/sig by me
Lark: Ok, cool! Was he at the WinterJam show you went to?
The Chapstick video is definitely rather creepy... the old people in it just made it rather bizarre. I like Relient K's newer videos so much more
And yeah, I asked Jon a few months ago if they were planning on making a video for one of the songs on F&NSD. He said that he didn't know yet and "they will see."
Glenstorm: I'm glad you like Seasons. I'm getting so so close to being done transcribing it and yet it's going to take much longer to complete the last 3 minutes because they're a bit more involved. But yeah, just keep listening to Mae. You will really like them!
About Sahara, yeah I really don't know how he meant it. I just think a lot of people would interpret that line that way. And right, I'm positive that the "take these bones and bring them back to life" is in reference to God, but he does have nods at God in other songs that are mainly about his ex. For example, in This Is The End he mentions the "healing hand" by his side. But the song is predominantly about his relationship.
Haha!! You wore it every day since the concert? I don't think I could do that...
You can't contact an admin unless you have an account? Would you like me to try to contact them for you? You can PM me your username and whatnot.
All right I'll check out NRT more. I just really only joined to get the free downloads that they post each week, so I wasn't aware of other aspects of the site haha.
Okay okay about Casting Crowns - I never said I didn't like them anymore. I said I wasn't a big fan of them anymore. I still like them, they're just not one of my favorite bands. Back in 2003 when they released their self-titled album they were my favorite band. I'm just not liking such a mainstream sound these days.
HelloHurricane, I'm really excited about HoH's new album. Did you see that video clip of them that they posted while they were working on the album, where they were singing a negro spiritual? Actually let me see if I can find a link... http://www.youtube.com/user/houseofhero ... Y5wupiXfWg
Tobymac was in Fox morning news singing "Get Back Up"!!!!! I saw the clip and it was cool! yay!

^^That's so cool! I love it when they have *good* music artists on TV.
I just saw on Rhapsody that Relient K has a new album that's gonna be songs from their first 3 years called "The First Three Gears".
This is the album cover:

I have a song that a friend & I REALLY like called The Promise by Plus One! It's so good! So, do you mean that you think those guys have turned away from the Lord or something? Or they just don't make the genre "Christian" music?
The Chapstick video is definitely rather creepy... the old people in it just made it rather bizarre.
Yeah, I was quite creeped out when I first saw it. It's just weird, but funny. I like their other videos, but I would have done "Who I am Hates Who I've Been" differently. Just because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, & it's not what I envisioned when I hear the song. I still like its though.

I'm pretty sure that's just going to be the first three albums.
edit: yeah here's the track list. It's weird b/c all those songs are on their first CD
Hello McFly
(Marilyn Manson Ate) My Girlfriend
Wake Up Call
Benediction
When You're Around
Softer to Me
Charles in Charge
Staples
Anchorage
17 Magazine
Staples
Balloon Ride
Everything Will Be
Nancy Drew
K Car
Breakdown (Live)

Awesome! I have to listen to more of their stuff .
Glenstorm: I'm glad you like Seasons. I'm getting so so close to being done transcribing it and yet it's going to take much longer to complete the last 3 minutes because they're a bit more involved. But yeah, just keep listening to Mae. You will really like them!
I was wondering if you were transcribing it yet .

yet but the whole song clearly to me is talking to God. IMO. Could be just me, wanting to have that one really good non-girlfriend song on the album .
Haha!! You wore it every day since the concert? I don't think I could do that...
too weird and stupid ? It took everything I could do to get my mom to let me wear it that long .
I've also been pretty much listneing to only him since the concert too. Just a little Mae, Evanescence, Flyleaf, and the RK Weezer cover besides . I LOVE his music so much more now. He has a real talent for writing bridges in songs (well whole songs too ). But I always love his bridges. They pump you up so much . Like in I Need a Break...But I'd Rather Have a Breakthrough...I LOVE that bridge. There are only a few bands where I sing their songs with all my might whenever I'm listening to them and TRS is one of them. When I hear his music I can't help but sing along . I NEEEED his other CDs .

Sure. My username is sadie_hawkins94. If you need any other info just PM me.
Me too but then I found out that you could get points for just posting on the forum so I go on alot now . I've earned 86 points in the forum alone .

me neither but they're still an awesome band.
that vid is hilarious
Tobymac was in Fox morning news singing "Get Back Up"!!!!! I saw the clip and it was cool! yay!
awesome! I'll have to see if it's up on youtube yet .
but I would have done "Who I am Hates Who I've Been" differently. Just because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, & it's not what I envisioned when I hear the song. I still like its though.
that one's better than Be My Escape. The music video is sooo misleading! Completely what the song's not about. It's not a breakup song!
some quotes from the NRT forum about TAN's new album!
I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with The Light Meets The Dark. There are less cliches and predictable melodies, which were abundant on Over & Underneath. The new record is actually pretty decent.
Funny, that's exactly my impression as well. The wide acceptance of their first record seems to have allowed them to take some chances both musically and lyrically which may disappoint those who only like radio singles, but personally for me the lyrical content of this record is closer to Sanctus Real and Robbie Seay Band territory, which is great company in my opinion.
I agree, it definitely reminded me of Robbie Seay Band. It'll be interesting to see how its received by fans.
hmm...
also "A Tour Guide to Anberlin's Cities"
http://mattmetzler.wordpress.com/2010/0 ... ns-cities/
Saturday night when I got home and turned on my radio,I started freaking out because it was playing "I Don't Need a Soul". I had never heard Relient K on the radio before,so I was fairly ecstaic. I reacted the same way a few months ago when I heard Mess of Me on the radio for the first time.
Ali: Haha, true, but we've already had this conversation.
HelloHurricane!!! I've missed you! Needtobreathe?? Ooh,nice!
Kat: No,he wasn't. But he's been in a couple TAN vids on youtube.
Ugh,yeah. Like when that old guy is choking or something and Matt's on his cellphone. *shudders*
Oh,ok,thanks. I'm hoping they'll do ones for "Therapy" and "Forget and Not Slow Down". They'll probably end up doing the latter.
Btw,I LOVE that quote by Bryce in your sig. *adds it to her favorite quotes on facebook* Where'd you find it?
Oh,and I'm really loving Birds and Cages. Atlantis is my current favorite. They're just so good! I think they should tour with Switchfoot sometime.
Ali: Haha, true, but we've already had this conversation.
Lol yeah .
Yeah Atlantis is an awesome song- I love it! But I love the whole CD . They're all too good for me to pick a favorite though.
That's cool about hearing RK on the radio .
The other day I was playing on my friend's iTouch and I was happy to find they had a theme for Tap Tap Revenge 2 using Anberlin's Feel Good Drag. It sounded slightly different, almost remixed. But it was cool . I played Fireflies and ABC (Jackson 5) too .
I'm a little upset and I'm going to be for the rest of the week . Friday will be the worst, to think that Adam Young is less than an hour away and I'm not at his concert! Oh well. I'll be listening to alot of TRS and thinking about the concert I did go to instead of that one I'm not at .
Lark: Whoa! What station was I Don't Need A Soul on? I had heard it was going to be released as a single on adult/contemporary radio but I didn't really ever know if that actually happened. Cool!
Ahh I see. I haven't been too good about keeping up with their YT videos... they post new ones too often!
I love the quote too! He posted it on his facebook/twitter a few days ago.
The First Three Gears thing has their first 3 albums plus some bonus tracks. One of my friends already sent me the bonus tracks, because you couldn't buy them anywhere before, but I feel like I should get the 1st three gears now just to get those songs :/ Either that or delete the songs from my library. It's too bad that everything on iTunes for it is album-only. They have the music videos for Chapstick and Pressing On too (the pre-order is up with everything listed there).
Glenstorm: haha yep, I've been working on writing down Seasons for a few months now. I keep forgetting to work on it though so it's going slowly.
I know what you mean about singing along with TRS. I love the part in Nothing Matters when he starts yelling at the top of his lungs. It makes me so excited lol.
Ok, I'll see what I can do about the SF boards. I'm not sure who to contact but I'll try to figure it out.
How did those people on NRT already hear the whole of The Light Meets the Dark???
Haha, Travis posted that link to the Cities tour guide so I already saw it
The Pendragon: Hrm, I sort of like the WIAHWIB video. It's a bit disconcerting to have it freeze for such a long time but it's an interesting concept.
Seabird released their video for Don't You Know You're Beautiful. http://www.seventeen.com/fun-stuff/17-b ... usic-video It premiered on 17 magazine of all places I kind of like it. My sig's from the video.
I know what you mean about singing along with TRS. I love the part in Nothing Matters when he starts yelling at the top of his lungs. It makes me so excited lol.
lol yeah. I love that song- I was SO hoping he would sing it at the concert I went to but he didn't...and he just posted that he just sang it the other night to at a concert. Whatever.
Ok, I'll see what I can do about the SF boards. I'm not sure who to contact but I'll try to figure it out.
ok thanks .
How did those people on NRT already hear the whole of The Light Meets the Dark???
previewing for reviews and whatnot. Btw, has anyone heard their new single yet? It's not available on iTunes . Neither is Leeland's new single, I'm mad .
Haha, Travis posted that link to the Cities tour guide so I already saw it

Lark: Good taste! Love the Beach Boys. And I agree, I find Mika rather fascinating. His music is awesome. I wish I actually owned some. Hmmm.
Glenstorm: I'm glad you like Mae. I don't blame you for liking Deas Vail more than Mae. DV is awesome. I had alliances to Mae first though and their album The Everglow changed my life. It might still be my favorite ever. DV is more consistent and their production is better though. And Wes wins in a Dave/Wes competition by a long shot.
Kat: Glad you like Jonsi! I also think that "Boy Lilikoi" is the best. I've also come to really love "Around Us," "Go Now," and "Animal Arithmetic." I am a big fan of his music and him as a person, just not some of his choices.
And get Vagabonds. I thought (a)fternoon was only so-so and I really liked TCC's new release. I reviewed them both, so you can check those out for more thoughts. Also, love the Anberlin cover.
I saw that Seabird video. I thought it was generic and boring. But Aaron is a surprisingly good frontman and he's actually really funny in person. He made some funny homeschool jokes. He has ridiculous hair though. My sister and I had to keep from laughing at it at the concert.
Elsendor: Welcome to the thread! You like a lot of alternative bands that are very popular here. I want to warn you in advance, we listen to a lot of kind of obscure Christian alternative bands and everyone here will soon try to indoctrinate you to our ways and swamp you with recommendations of music to listen to. That said: check out Deas Vail. They are awesome. Oh, and maybe Anberlin. You might like them. Possibly.
I've been listening to a lot of a very new band called Debutaunts lately. They are kind of like electro-pop/punk. I enjoy listening to them, but have mixed feelings about the quality of the music. It's sort of a de-snob moment for me. I like them against my better judgment. Probably writing a review in the near future on it.
