I like Paramore's style but not their lyrics. Most of them anyway. Sometimes I get mad listening to their music b/c of the swearing, especially Misery Business, which just happens to have my favorite tune of theirs .
Really? I didn't think there was any swearing in their music. Well I suppose I don't consider the words they use as necessarily swearing. Misery business does have some sweet guitar riffs though! Their new album is pretty good as well.
I haven't listened to Brand New Eyes yet, but I jsut requested it at the library. Maybe it's better than Riot!. Yeah some of their music does have swearing. Yeah the guitar riffs are why I love the tune so much but I WILL NOT listen to it. THe chorus is wrong. She takes God's name in vain and she calls herself a Christian too. It's kinda sad.
oh my. -NRH-? You're back? Good to see you again mate!
I've been listening to lots of Jonsi lately and 2 acoustic tracks I got off NoiseTrade by bensonwells. Unfortunately, I like the acoustic tracks way better than their usual sound, so I probably won't be their biggest fan, but I do enjoy the songs. I also listened to a lot of Anarbor for a review for TAP. It's ok. I probably won't choose to listen to it, but some of the songs are catchy. The album shows artists who are very much seeking redemption, which was both saddening and encouraging. They had a lot of language issues too, so be warned. I'm not really recommending them.
Any Mika fans here? I find his music fascinating. I think it's a shame he doesn't get more attention--he could be one of the greatest pop musicians of our time, but no one pays any notice.
Glenstorm: My favorite Mae song is "Suspension." By a long shot. I'd recommend checking out the music video. It's fun.
sloopjohn: Deas Vail plays what I suppose you'd call melodic indie/rock. They're excellent. It's hard to describe, but they have lots of piano, incredible vocals, lots of instrumental texture and are generally amazing. (As an aside, we know you like RK, but do you like the Beach Boys? I don't think anyone has asked you that, yet it's an obvious question.)
Ali:Awesome! Let me know whatcha think!
He has three CDs? I though Ocean Eyes was his first one ...
Technically he has two CDs and an EP,but I bought the EP in CD form. His first CD is called "Maybe I'm Dreaming" and the EP is called "Of June".
I have heard of them b/c they were on tour with RK last year (and OC). I haven't heard any of their music though. What's their music like? Maybe I"ll check out their myspace later .
Oh,and I forgot to post this link earlier.*facepalm* You can get a free download of their song "Shoreline". http://www.purevolume.com/deasvail
And to answer your question about what their music is like,Kate already took care of that. (thank you,Kate!)
yes I have seen "Stars"! that's so awesome! did you know that they actually filmed the video underwater?
Whoa! For real?? But wouldn't that ruin their instruments?
Yes I am from the switchfoot boards! Do you frequent them?
I'm actually a member there. Same username. I've had to take a temporary break from them though to catch up on schoolwork.
Anyone here Paramore fans?
*raises hand*
Ooh,me! I only have "That's What You Get" because I found a free download of it,but I LOVE their music! I really like BNE,but I haven't heard much off of Riot!,which everyone says is their best.
Kate: I know you didn't ask me,but I like the Beach Boys. Oh,and I checked out some Mika songs. Really cute stuff. Have you seen the music video for "Rain"? The costumes remind me of music videos from the '70s or '80s. I think I could easily become hooked on his music. Wait I take that back. I think I could definetly become hooked on his music.
Glenstorm: My favorite Mae song is "Suspension." By a long shot. I'd recommend checking out the music video. It's fun.
I know have the vid on my iPod . I like it alot, very nice .
Ali:Awesome! Let me know whatcha think!
Ok I listened to some of them last night and I'm really liking this band .
Lark: I have no idea about this instruments I wondered the same thing!
but we found out that Stars was indeed filmed underwater..... but they could do it because the are surfers!

Two people:
1. Daughtry, since forever it seems I have had Home, which I love but I also have played out. So I thought it was time for something new, this was back in December. I bought Open Up Your Eyes, but never did get around to listening to it. This week, I got to it, and yesterday I realized that I love the song. Amazing!
2. Brit Nicole, I liked Set the World On Fire- it was decent. Don't Worry Now was a much better effort but I still didn't love it. The Lost Get Found was the first I really really like of hers. But now, after having the song for quite some time I realized that Walk on the Water is simply her best song I've heard- I truly think she went all out with that one!
has anyone seen Switchfoot's music video for "Dare You To Move"? it's awesome!
They actually have another video for DYTM that I like better. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE-Krlqi4fk
Their music video to Stars is my favorite I think. And video to Happy Is A Yuppie Word is almost completely underwater! It's awesome!
Whoa! For real?? But wouldn't that ruin their instruments?
It's really underwater, but they have shells of guitars & stuff. So they're not ruining anything. You can see Happy Is A Yuppie Word here & the making of that video here. You can also watch the making of Stars here.
Switchfoot is definitely awesome! They just released a new record not long ago called Hello Hurricane. It's pretty brilliant. Also I think anberlin and wavorly are some really awesome bands. Eh, pop punk or alt rock in general is just great.
Hi RawKr! Welcome to NarniaWeb! That's so cool that you like Switchfoot! Most of us on here are fans of them. I like your avie too!
I can't decide which is my second favorite either . Probably Five Score.
Five Score is probably my favorite too. Cause it has Come Right Out & Say It, Forgiven, Must have Done Something Right, Give Until There's nothing Left & Deathbed. I LOVE them all!!

^^ wow! that video for Dare You To Move is awesome too! cool!
yeah, I figured they didn't use real instruments for Stars.....

They had another EP before that too called Riding Around the Park but that's not available anymore. I don't know if Saturday Rock Action is.
Oops, I've forgotten to visit this thread for a while
Just a little catching up...
I also prefer the video for DYTM that The Pendragon posted. MUCH more than the other video.
hey RawKr! Good to see you on here! I've seen you around on the SF boards as well. I'm "Kat." on there. I take it you are a big Narnia fan as well?
Glenstorm, haha, I have to disagree with you on Deas Vail being better than Mae. Although they're quite similar relatively speaking, their music is actually pretty different and I really love both styles. There are certain things about each that I prefer. Lately I've been listening to a lot of stuff from Desination: Beautiful and Singularity since I hadn't listened to them much, mainly just The Everglow.
Oh, so did you have to pay for the cover of Dawn Escapes, or you got it just from points? I don't visit NRT enough
I saw Tenth Avenue North and Casting Crowns a couple days ago. Caleb and Will Chapman (Steven Curtis Chapman's sons) opened. They played a few songs and I just felt so bad for Will (he was involved in the accident in their family if you know what I mean). I was definitely touched by their performance even if they weren't amazing. Caleb has a nice voice. TAN was great. They played their popular songs along with 3 new ones (Strong Enough to Save, Healing Begins, You Are More) It was interesting though because in addition to Ruben they had another guy playing with them who did the keys and sometimes guitar. So they had 5 guys on stage. Interesting. I don't know who he is, but I guess he's just a touring member. And I'm beginning to think Ruben is just a touring member too since he isn't in any of their promo photos now. Casting Crowns, while I'm not a big fan of them anymore, sounded pretty good - close to their studio sound. And all of their vocals were definitely very strong. Their set was terribly long, and TAN's was rather short, so I was a little sad about that, but oh well.
Just because it isn't pop-punk doesn't mean it's worthless!
You're sounding like Travis (I keep grouping all of my various message-board friends into one large category so I can't help but mention people from one board on another )
F&NSD really isn't pop punky at all compared to their older stuff. It's just a good rock album.
They don't even like Sahara. They say it's about his girlfriend, not God.
Well eh, I would tend to agree with your friends just because the rest of the album is pretty obviously about a girl. But actually. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be able to work for either perspective - Matt probably left it rather vague for that very reason. It could either be Matt talking to his ex, "don't ever turn me loose, even when I turn my back" meaning don't let me go even when I'm unfaithful. Or it could be him talking to God. Either one really.
Haha about my shirt in Awakening - yeah, you guys are very observant It is indeed the TRS one.
Glenstorm, (again ) Haha! Maybe Tara was confused because when my mom and I were talking with her my mom referred to me as Katherine. She always calls me Katherine, but my friends call me Kat.
Does anyone know if http://www.gomusicnow.com/ is a legit website? It's crazy how cheap the stuff is. mp3 albums for just over a dollar? Songs for 9 cents each? Sounds too good to be true.
I got Jónsi's album and have been listening to it over the past few days. It's really beautiful, and the classical music geek in me is definitely loving the variety of orchestrations from playful woodwinds to lush strings. The oboe and flute/piccolo, and the hairpin crescendos through the tremeloing strings in Boy Lilikoi are so lovely. I may not be a huge fan of Jónsi as a person but his music is definitely special.
So now that you've heard this from two people I suggest you go get it
And this is utterly random but I saw this picture on Jónsi's website. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b316/ ... 2322AM.png I thought it was so cute.
Oh. ALSO. If I'm going to spend money on a new release, should I get Vagabonds or (a)fternoon? I meant to get them both when they were released but I decided not to...
haha there seems to be a few people on here that are on the switchfoot boards. I definitely like these boards better. Much more fun in my opinion .
Has anyone ever listened to the Pop goes Punk stuff? It's where punk/metal bands take pop songs and re-do them. It's really cool if you haven't checked it out!
