Ok, so discussion question. Who is your favorite band? And yes, I mean ONE favorite. If you list 5, feel free, but it's fun to really make a choice. But here's the part I really want to know: WHY? I feel like we always say, "Oh, they're so good!" but never explain why that is. Sometimes we say how catchy it is, or how much we like the lyrics, but why do we really like our favorite band?

Excellent point,Kate. I'm not going to name a band yet,but I'm just going to list a few points.
For me,their music must have substance lyrically and musically. And it should also vary from "fun" songs to "thinking" songs to "sad" songs to "life is good" songs because I'm never in the same mood all the time.

I got those free He is We songs and was listening to them last night. I was very dissapointed in Light a Way. Are they Christians? I hope not...

Kate: Yeah, TRS is kind of "punkish," I don't think I would like his music anywhere near as much if he didn't incorporate so much piano into everything. And his latest album is really a lot more like indie rock.
I just listened to "Boy Lilikoi" by Jónsi. Very cool. I will definitely check into more of his music.

Oh, and about He Is We. Yeah, in Light a Way, it sounds like they're taking God's name in vain. I really don't know though. It's kind of hard to tell. Their song "His Name" sounds like it's pretty obviously about God. And on their myspace they list "Jesus" under their influences. Who knows.

The Pendragon: I really like Mercy's War. I was surprised at how blatant the lyrics were, but I love them.

HM Swanwhite: I'm a pretty big fan of Britt. I like her sophomore release better, definitely. She's one of the only Christian pop artists that I really enjoy. And yeah, I appreciate the variety throughout the album.

About the favorite band question, I can't answer it. As I've been expanding my tastes a bit I've found that I no longer can name one favorite band. Sort of sad, but it's probably a good thing The artists that I've listened to obsessively over the past year/few months are good, but I've found that many others are better... and I don't know, because even though I know some other artists are better, I still don't like them as well. And I don't know why. Sometimes it's not really something that can be explained. I would name Tenth Avenue North my favorite band merely because of how their music has affected my life. That being said, I don't listen to them very much now.(must have new album!! haha)

Urgh, I can't stand it when people call themselves Christian and then directly act against the Bible. I'm not saying that we all don't sin but using God's name in vain? That's extreme. And I can't think of a way that song can be using God's name in a good way. And besides that I'm also not too happy with the lyrics.

About Light a Way and taking God's name in vain...right after she sings that she says "And tonight I pray". So I'm not exactly sure if she is or not.

So,I've been plotting,and I might,just might be able to go to the CC/TAN concert! I told some adults my church who are CC fans about it and SWSNBN(she-who-shall-not-be-named) wants me to go with her so her group can get a discount. So I have two possible ways of going and still no idea how much it costs. They didn't post anything about prices on their website...ugh!

Oh,and Mama ordered me a book on CBD for about $8 and I just let my sister have it and she paid Mama,so I'm going to try to convince her to let me buy one CD.

hmm... Birds and Cages is a good choice. But really, every single one of those CDs you named is great. Honestly, right now I'm digging Cities and The Silver Cord the most out of the ones on your list If you want an Anberlin album, get Cities, not one of the others (though they aren't bad at all). I have yet to pick up Vagabonds so I'm not sure how it is compared to TSC, but I really love TSC.

Lark: yeah, like Kat said, not Owl City, TRS . I still might go to see OC but I won't know until the day before .
