Well, I usually get into fads after people move on to the next BIG THING. Like, when everyone deserted Harry Potter for Twilight I became a Harry Potter nerd while everyone else is loving Twilight. I like being unique!
Hello! My name is Rachel. But just call me Chel.

I like zelda and if that ever becomes and fad i woll break the nearest table near me.
Yeah MJ only got popular with the younger crowd after he died...
"Fads often turn out to be the result of advertising campaigns neatly targeting young people. " says old Auntie who has been observing it for many years now!!
As for MJ's popularity suddenly increasing with young people - it happened when Elvis died in 1977 too - kids my age and younger suddenly developed a love/grief for him!
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
It appears Fedoras have suddenly become a fad, which saddens me, because I liked them from the beginning because they're just plain out awesome. (Now I must specify that I am indeed not trying to be like the Jonas Brothers!)
As far as bands go, I think it's rather unfair to call someone a "fake fan" because they only listened to two or so songs, and only like them both out of the band. Such as, with Owl City for example, I hadn't heard of them until they "became a fad" (someone suggested I should listen to them) but the only reason I like them is because the style of music suits me, but out of the couple I heard, I prefer only Fireflies and Strawberry Avalanche.
Although, I do understand where the idea might come from.
Somehow it's become a fad to express dislike in Miley Cyrus, equally as it's become a fad to like her, but what I've seen, it's more the former. (I'm neutral on the subject. I'm not her biggest fan, nor do I start to rant when she's brought up. But that's an entirely different subject...)

sorry Aslanisthebest. I just say that b/c most people on listen to two of his songs and say they love him and are fans but they really don't know much of his music at all.
I never wear dresses either, ILoveFauns! dresses make me think of going to funerals.....and I can never get comfortable in them anyway!
I am starting to see that pink is becoming popular for guys......kind of an odd fad if you ask me!

Oh no, I agree with you completely. There's absolutely nothing wrong with not hearing any songs from an artist until later than most people, and then liking them. That certainly doesn't mean you can't be a fan of their music merely because you heard about them later. I've done this a lot. (Hey, I didn't hear about Relient K until 10+ years after they started, and I will not hesitate to call them my favorite band now! But the difference is, I own 213 of their songs, not just a couple.) The main thing that irks me is if people insist that they're "so and so's biggest fan" when they're barely familiar with their music. I wouldn't mind if they just said that they really liked the artist and that was it
I ahve done that too! like with audio Adrenaline.....I didn't get into their music until they dis-banded!

Haha I do that too. I've written so many notes to people that like Twlight. The only bad thing about doing this is alot of people hate you . I wrote a note to someone that was in my younger sister's play. He was obsessed with Twlight and would just start randomly crying while thinking about New Moon. So I wrote him a list of reasons why Twlight was bad before I met him. Then I went to my sister's show and the first thing he shouts to me from across the hall is "That is un-American!" ! i could not believe he said that, and then we had a whole long debate and whatnot...anyway, is still hate Twilight
Did i cry because when he thoguht about, he wished he had a life liek that?(i don't know who would but anyway)

Before MJ died, I had no clue who he was. I thought he was a basketball announcer who died years ago! don't ask me why... I am SO not up to date with famous people!

I LOVE fedoras! I think they're awesome too! my sister got me one for Christmas. Glad they're in stlye!
