^Ditto that Damsel! I really like how clean the show is as well, & I doubt they'll stray from the books. The profanity was evident, but most of the time you can easily mute it. That's what I do when I'm watching it with my family. And in The Blind Banker, there was no swearing at all, that I can remember. Anyhow, I'm just really excited about the 2nd series now!

After a few lovely months of discussing the BBC Sherlock series, this Special Feature will be closed on Friday, March 4, after which you may continue the Sherlock talk in the Television thread.
And remember, if you have a request for an SF, feel free to PM one of the Spare Oom mods, and we will add it to the list.

Oh wow, I've missed quite a bit of this conversation. Hello again, everyone. Sorry for being away for so long--been extremely busy.
I totally agree with the whole content thing; compared to what a lot of shows/movies are like, Sherlock is quite refreshing despite it has its moments as well. I wouldn't worry too much about the Sherlock/Irene thing. I figure Sherlock may, if he meets her, at least flirt to get information like he does with Molly, and Irene might return the attention. Other than that, I doubt it'll be anything bad.

Not so sure I agree on that. I think there's definitely a possibility of bad content in this case -- after all, there already has been in the case of Watson and his girlfriend. I doubt the producers/directors even view it as bad content. So it may go past flirting, but I doubt it will be worse than an insinuation. Otherwise they'd have to up the rating.
I wonder, will Irene Adler be married or single? That might have some bearing on the content. After all, Sherlock and Irene may have been in love in some adaptions, but in the original books, they were not. Irene was marrying the man she loved in the original story (a man who was not Sherlock), and Sherlock only liked her as an enigma -- the one mystery he could not solve. And so far, the TV show seems to be sticking surprisingly close to the stories.

Holmes!!!!!!
I missed you so much!
I agree on the whole Sherlock/Irene thing. She'll possibly disappear in the last episode of next season because doesn't she somehow out smart Sherlock?

That's kinda the same conclusion I came to. If they stick to the original books (which they have done a wonderful job of so far) then I don't think anything really bad will happen. BUT, if they decide to have romance that goes beyond just Sherlock having a little crush on her or whatever, then I'm a little concerned. Just like you said, I doubt the makers will see it as bad content either. With Watson & Sara, it wasn't that bad, but it did hint at some stuff in The Great Game. But it wasn't graphic or terribly disturbing.
I've come across a few cool Sherlock pictures/ graphics on some sites. Here's a few of them: (each letter is a link to a picture)

I remeber reading somewhere that Adler comes back with a son and is hinted that it is Sherlock's. But I doubt it, I don't think they'll go too far. With the showing something naughty I mean. I think they want to keep their younger audiences too.
Nice find Pendragon! I'll be making more Sherlock graphics now!

Welcome back Holmes!
Wow, a son? That would be an interesting twist... I wonder if they'll do that or not.
Oh, and anyone who makes Sherlock graphics -- you don't have to get screenshots from sites. You can get your own from the DVD by hitting "print screen" and then pasting the picture into Paint.

I tried that and I have the same button on my laptop as Pendragon described but it wont work for some reason. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong or what.

^That's really weird. I don't know why it wouldn't work. Are you clicking on "Paste" -> "Paste From" on Paint?
Remember you can always use the site that Mrs. Holmes found here. This is an awesome site! The pictures are from a Blu ray disc, & they're really clear!

I know you've all been talking about this for 14 pages. But what is everyone's opinion about this show? I watched the trailer for it, but wasn't to impressed..Don't get me wrong, I really like all the novels and Adventures, and I love the new movie.
I guess I don't like that fact that it's 'modern'..

The modern show is more close to the books than the movie you saw. I love the show and you should give it a try and watch it. It's very captivating and adventrous too.

I found the new movie to be rather average. This mini-series is brilliant - so well-written and acted and truer to the original books (in many ways) than the majority of TV and movie screen adaptations - for one thing no deer-stalker cap. Yes, Moffat's Sherlock is set in the modern-times but everything that makes Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson so great is left intact and, in some cases improved upon and developed further. Really, I encourage you to check it out. Trailers don't always show the product for what it really is - in this case an intelligent mystery/drama mini-series.
