Yikes! We reached 45 Celsius in my part of South Australia. Not cool! I'm trying to keep cool though. Thanks, guys.

It is below 30 for the next 4 days for Bunbury. Monday However ill be 35c I will be in perth however where it will be 40C(why must I go to perth on the hottest day of the week). I am going to see Jimmy Carr(It is his first Australian tour....hope he survives the heat).
Good stuff, Fauns. Adelaide has anything from 43 to 46C for the next few days. Australia, sometimes I struggle to love thee!

W4J, Melbourne was pretty awful yesterday, with temperatures as bad as Adelaide, so you may get deliverance as the weather system goes eastwards. It is still reasonable weather here, though yesterday was a bit hot. Tim Bailey (weatherman) said Sydney should miss the worst of this heatwave, but I'm not sure I believe him. It's all very well if one lives in Bondi, Sutherland, or along the Harbour, but the other side of Parramatta is a different matter.
Unfortunately, we are having health problems at the moment, so I'm hoping we are spared 46C here. I wish it would rain.
I look up Bunbury's current temperature and it says it is 23C and raining. I look outside and at my families temperature recorder. It is 26C and there isn't a cloud in the sky....... At least Mondays predicted Temperature in perth has dropped 5C.
I really don't like summer, especially january......
It has been rather mild and rainy here lately. An unfortunate continuation of our January thaw. Temperatures have mostly been in the 40s F (+0s C), though we've hit 50F (10C) a couple times. All the snow is gone, save a few snow banks. A real pity considering we have gotten 65" (165cm) this season.
But what is that showing on the weather models? Another cold shot next week? Oh goodie! Now, just start showing some more snow...
"I have been asked by Aslan HIMSELF to gather more troops."
46 Celsius today! Ugh.

46? That's just...crazy.
Meanwhile, blizzard watches are posted here. Yesterday we received several inches of fine powdery snow driven by winds in excess of 55mph (88 km/hr). Today offered a sunny break before another similar storm blows in tomorrow. Whiteout conditions are likely in rural areas.
And statistically anyway, today is the coldest day of the year in these parts. Cold can persist into March, but on average we've begun the long climb back toward summer heat. We've also gained a half hour of daylight since December's solstice, and the rate of increase will grow substantially from now through May.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Actually, it has only reached 44C by now. I don't think we'll be getting our hottest day on record (and that's okay).

W4J, I wouldn't have spoken too soon, if I were you. According to my computer, you posted 4.20 pm Sydney time or thereabouts, so since Adelaide is behind Sydney, you still had an hour or so for the heat to get worse, before the evening. I'm hoping that today's temperatures are a bit milder for you, and this heatwave is easing off. How's the bushfire situation over your way?
It has been really hot here, so I spent all morning yesterday swimming. But I think it is nicer in the afternoon, when a bit of breeze comes up to stir the bottlebrushes and lilli pilli bush which shade one end of the pool. I don't think the temperature got much worse than 40C, though my husband said it was 50C in the garden shed when he took the thermometer inside it. It wouldn't be a good idea for the cats to accidentally get locked inside.
It is only 22c here at the moment(it is nearly 10am). It is very nice. S I suggest you all come over to visit me. Ha though it will only last a few days before it gets to 40C/high 30's again.
We got an overnight dusting of snow and ice, which caused me to nearly kill myself with both a television and trash. . .both of which I was transporting to my car and a dumpster respectively

Yesterday we had some crazy wind here in KS. It wasn't quite as insane where I live, only 40mph/64kmph gusts, but western KS got so bad they had to close I-70 for a few hours. I think they were getting up to 60mph, maybe even 70mph/112kmph gusts.
I found this hilarious picture on a local news site of somebody's house out in western Kansas that got buried in tumbleweeds.
It's supposed to get downright warm for this time of year over the weekend. 60F/15C on Sunday. Gonna have to spend some time outside
That pic is classic, FK!!!
We're getting more snow. . . big, beautiful, fluffy snow
