Glad to hear about the "cool fronts", Watchful Admin. We are cooling off more slowly and should be in the mid 90'sF through next week.

Definitely a good trend.

And hoping it continues for you, Glim. (Has it?)
:D

See above and below. :D

I looked at my records for past years at this time ant it is usually warm to hot for the first two weeks of September and then we start to get some cooler days more regularly though it doesn't really cool down until the first of November.

However, we have been reaching the mid to upper 60'sF in the morning which helps. Current temperature is 96.1F/35.6F. :)

(in response to Jo's first post on this page...)
Indeed, that bit of autumn was only a fleeting day. :(
The weather conditions are pretty much as everyone summed up. It's looking good for the next couple days in the forecast (I can't believe that I was actually a bit glad to see that the heat we'll get will be in the mid-80's. What has this summer done to me?!)
Meanwhile, I'm looking at pictures of snow-lined streets and am half-amazed that there was something called snow and that there once existed weather conditions that required a coat. :))
....and I'm sure that by next March, I'll be anticipating summer. *reminds self to be content in whatsoever situation she is in...especially autumny situations ;;) *

Did someone mention snow? ;)

I'm reminded that our possible snow season begins a week from today. :) (Though the odds of getting snow that soon are quite small).

The last 6 weeks have been quite dry here, and the drought has worsened (but generally is still not as dry as south and west of here). Some of the trees, notably ashes and birches, are starting to drop their leaves as a result. Early reports are that fall colors will come earlier and for a shorter time than usual.

Last weekend (the long Labor Day weekend) was quite warm, with highs around 92F/33C - some 17F/9C above average. But this upcoming weekend should be a lot more pleasant - actually below average, with lows tomorrow morning around 45F/7C. Ahhhh....

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

We had a major 'cold' front move in last night. It is now overcast, raining, windy, and I was planning on going on a hike today. Pretty skeptical about that right now. Got about two hours to decide whether to take a 'rain'check (pun intended) with a friend of mine.

But each day this week is going to get progressively cooler until this Saturday when the high is supposed to be 77F! :-o
Very happy for the cooldown!

:D And did this cooler air come to pass today for you guys? Hope so!

It sure has for us: after a sweltering, moist-air-laden day yesterday, overnight we received glorious thunderstorms, which lasted into early afternoon today, bringing with them very lovely temperatures (20C/68F) and a brisk wind, making it feel cooler. :D/ Tonight the forecast is 11C/51.8F: I will definitely be getting out for an early morning walk, knowing this. :D

However, we have been reach the mid to upper 60'sF in the morning which helps.

So, enjoy those nice morning temps before the heat of the day sets in, eh?

Meanwhile, I'm looking at pictures of snow-lined streets and am half-amazed that there was something called snow and that there once existed weather conditions that required a coat.

Isn't that true?! ;)) And hopefully that something called snow will be abundant this winter (unlike last year *sniff*).

Indeed, stargazer, Labour Day weekend was very hot here as well. Not too pleasant. However, this weekend is much different ... and so much more comfy. :D

Did you get your hike in, Fencer, or is the weather still inclement?

Towards the middle of the week, the temperatures are predicted to rise again, but only for a couple of days (whew!). Gone are the lengthy humid spells that are so hard to handle ... for this year, anyway. :D

It did. :D It didn't get quite as cool as they predicted. But when you've had a summer of 100F+, 80F feels pretty good. :D

Today and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the low 90Fs, but on Thursday we're getting another cool front and it's supposed to be in the upper 70Fs and low 80Fs for a few days. Yay! And hooray for the rain that's supposed to come along with it!! Fall is definitely arriving. :) But the mosquitoes.... I don't know where they came from after a year of no rain, but they need to just die. :P ;))

Unfortunately, we reversed course right after I posted that and our morning lows have been 70F/21C to 75F/24C and the highs 90F32C to 100F/38C. Not enough to cool down to a comfortable temperature, especially inside where it has been 80F/27C plus day and night. =;

I can't afford to have the air conditioning on too much so I try to cool off the apartment at night the best I can. Maybe in a couple of more weeks...

No, I did not get my hike in. Rain in El Paso is not like rain in Colorado where you can often enjoy a mountain hike in the rain (with proper gear). The paths are not meant to be wet as they are usually bone dry.

Had some sprinkles this morning but hardly anything worth noticing. Temps are still around 90 degrees. (But it didn't get above 80 on Saturday which was nice).

What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday's high was 96, today we may have hit 75. Though the factory still holds a lot of humidity it was definetly much more tolerable.
Who's talking snow?
Personally I would not be unhappy to see a little of what we had last winter, dry until new year then measurable snow. But I suspect we might be in for a bit harsher winter this time around. Tested the snowblower last weekend just to be on the safe side.
I just hope the truly cold temps hold off until, say maybe November.

Aye, Puddleglum! A day's difference indeed. I was camping yesterday near Owatonna, which saw a record high of 97F/36C. This afternoon was 40F/22C cooler - wonderful!

This summer had the 8th highest number of days over 90F, and by that measure was the warmest since the record-setting heat of 1988.

The season's first frost is quite possible this upcoming weekend for northern parts of the state - even the northern suburbs could be a bit nippy.

And this Friday marks the start of the possible snow season. :)

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Our turn here tomorrow. Today's high was 94F, tomorrow's high is 64F. I'm gonna go dig out my winter clothes. :)) Ok, not really, but that's gonna be a little chilly for me. ;))

So long for "Global Warming" huh? It's been mid-90's all week and tomorrow is supposed to just be 70F. It's nothing but wind and clouds right now.

I will defenitly be wearing something warmer tomorrow night. The local High-school football team will be playing, and I suspect a chill in the wind. So cooler weather gear will be a must.

I don't know where they came from after a year of no rain, but they need to just die. :P ;))

No kidding! Although they haven't been that bad here this year, but I will always wondrr why Noah brought two of them on the Ark ... :P

I hope the weather cools down for you soon, Glim!

But I suspect we might be in for a bit harsher winter this time around.

I sure hope so! Last year was the pits, to put it mildly. Hardly a snowflake in our area, anyway, and what there was usually melted the next day. A very sad Ontario winter, indeed.

We had a lot of humidity yesterday, but that was short-lived and has broken, to approaching rain and then a cooler weekend, woohoo!

And this Friday marks the start of the possible snow season. :)

:D :D :D The beginning of our snow season must not be too far off as well. I'm not sure what it is. 'Twould be fun to find out.

We aren't reaching single digits (Celsius) at night yet, but some are close, around 10 or 11° (50 or nearly 52F). Such nice temps for sleeping.

:)) That's one of life's mysteries for me, too. Mosquitoes and cockroaches, for that matter. ;))

I'm hoping there will be the right amount of snow, too, Jo! At least enough so I can properly sing "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas." ;))

The weather has just been gorgeous! There is a teeny tiny bit of fall in the air and I saw some leaves that had turned a blush of orange/pink/scarlet. They were so beautiful. :D Everything is slowly but surely changing colour. It got to around 60F/16C yesterday and I had to take a sweater outside. :P I'm glad for the gradual decrease/increase in weather that prepares us for what's to come at the extreme end.

Today's a bit warmer, but still on the cool side. Aaah, finally! :D
