Ditto, Bella! One could actually feel the humidity drop off Saturday evening. What a relief! The nights are down to very comfy temperatures and the days are much more manageable, usually with a breeze (off the lake, for us). So thankful.

Indeed, that one rare day of good weather was really something!! But, as you predicted, there was a following onslaught of heat. ;))

Today, however, was wonderful!!!!!!!!!!! Perfectly in the 70's. (and so worth all those exclamation points.) I love this kind of weather. I actually had to wear a sweater! And the sweater looked odd to me because I haven't seen it in some time! :)) It's so comfortable and wonderful and there's a hint of fall in the air. :D I have been dreaming of snow.

After all the heat this summer, a sign of things to come: International Falls, Minnesota, which bills itself as "The Icebox of the Nation" (and gained notoriety some years back for those middle-of-the-winter Diehard car battery commercials) had a low of 37F/3C yesterday morning. Ahhh!!

It has been very pleasant here the past few days (highs in the 70s with low dewpoints), and I enjoyed a fire with Ryadian's family and other friends last evening...topped off with an ISS observation and S'mores. (Too bad there's still about a billion mosquitoes! ;)) )

It may even be clear for the Perseids tonight.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Nice to hear of someone somewhere having pleasant temperatures. :) B-)

On the other hand, today is our 9th straight over 100F+ with all the lows being between 75F to 80F. Not very pleasant although I got to house sit for 4 days last week where the highs were only in the mid 80'sF.

It will be nice when this heat wave is finally over. #:-s =;

Meanwhile I think the severe heatwave here is finally over here. I hope. Today it's supposed to get up to 97F but the few days before have been in the 80Fs and it's supposed to cool back off again tomorrow.
We're still desperate for rain though. All of the creeks and small streams are completely dried up. The medium sized rivers are more algae pools than anything else. And our primary river through KS, the Arkansas River is just a trickle. :(
There are chances for storms all week long so I'm praying that we get some good rain!

Heading off west for a week. We checked the Weather Channel ahead of time, and find to our dismay that South Dakota is a tad on the warm, and dry side. Not that I mind the dry, but I have had about enough of heat for one summer. Well. Best pack the shorts, and scare the kids with hy hairy legs. Sunscreen too.

Hopefully some of this cooler weather will come your way, Puddleglum. It's been so hot this summer that the glorious weather of the past few days - highs below 70F/21C and nighttime lows around 45F/7C - seems almost chilly. But it sure has been welcome!

And we had about 2 minutes of rain while I was typing this. Perhaps we'll get more soon. The drought here is much less severe than points further south, but we still could use the moisture.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Woohoo! This past week and a bit more has been just like that ... cool nights (10C/50F) and comfortable, breezy days with finally a bit of freshness in the air (21C/very low 70sF). However, yesterday things began changing again. :( (see below)

Best pack the shorts, and scare the kids with hy hairy legs.

:)) Just couldn't resist quoting this for another good, hearty chuckle. ;)) Although, I thought the webbed fingers and toes might put them in wonderment even more. ;)

Glad you had that wee break, Glimmie! Now that fall is approaching, how is the weather in your area?

Indeed! :D But that lovely weather is now over for us for a couple of days. The heat and humidity are plunging back in with the heat index expected to be 35C/95F tomorrow and Sunday. #:-s Monday is supposed to herald relief with a measurable amount of rain predicted, and more comfy temps on Tuesday.

I'm managing to hang in there with these few 'ugly-weather' days, and console myself knowing at least this spell is at the right/good side of summer (heading towards autumn), rather than at the other side (in the spring, having to face all that summer heat ahead :P).

Have you received any significant rain, stargazer or fantasia? We had lots (finally) last week during our cool spell, but now things have become quite dry again.

I'm looking forward to catching my first glimpse of fall colour in the leaves.

Thank's for asking, LOTS. :) We are finally cooling off a bit to the low 90F's/32C. Today may end up in the upper 80F's/30C-31C. Definitely a good trend. :)

Well we are still in the 90's with a few 100's recently. Last night we got a monsoon rain storm. 60 mph winds along with brown out dirt storms. Then enough diagonal rain and hail to make me very concerned about my windows. But it was only about 1/4-1/2 an inch of rain. I'm still not sure if we passed the 2 inch mark on the year for our total rainfall.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

the second half of August has been cold and rainy, if the sun happens to poke it's face from behind the clouds then we consider it a real treat. It rains almost every day and it's usually somewhere from 15C to 20C. We went swimming today, it wasn't really planned, we were swinging from a rope overhanging the pond and then suddenly it ripped and our friend who happened to be swinging fell into the water and after that I jumped in then Narnian_Archer also jumped in, but De decided against it :p . The water was cold, freezing cold!!! It was fun to walk back home in our wet clothes with people staring at us, they probably thought we were crazy, going swimming in this weather :p

I spent a week in the gorgeous state of Colorado last week and the weather was perfect. Part of the time it was cool and cloudy with a few sprinkles, and then part of the time the sun was out. :D It was so nice to have a break from the intense heat.
And then I came back home to Kansas... :P Highs this week are in the low 90Fs, which sure beats the low 100Fs, but I prefer the 70Fs and 80Fs of Colorado. :P ;))

It's been cold and cloudy here, but no rain. Rather unusual weather for this time of year. Usually it's super hot here during these months. ;))

August may be almost over, but summer hasn't quite given up yet. Highs tomorrow will be well into the 90s, and one forecast for Thursday has a high of 102F/39C with a heat index of 110F/43C or more. Whew! Won't be doing much outside either day!

It's supposed to cool off a bit by the weekend, which is good because my tent isn't air conditioned. ;)

Isaac has made landfall just southeast of New Orleans as a category 1 hurricane. It's moving slowly and will likely bring heavy rains to the area, and then to areas north as it moves into the central US. A number of these states, from Arkansas northeast to Ohio, are currently in drought, but this rain may be too much too fast.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Definitely a good trend.

And hoping it continues for you, Glim. (Has it?)

Fencer, how did your windows fare the storm?

t was fun to walk back home in our wet clothes with people staring at us, they probably thought we were crazy, going swimming in this weather :p

;)) Sounds like such fun, though!

How nice you had that lovely break from intense heat in CO last week, fantasia. The cooler temperatures are such a relief!

Hoping those of you who need rain, receive it soon!

Same here, stargazer! Here, 'tis hot/unseasonably warm this Labour Day weekend, with rain hopefully arriving early next week, then cooling down (hurrah!). The nights were down to 12C/53.6F earlier this past week (so lovely!), but now they're up to 19C/66F+ with some humidity built in. Ugh! Daytimes are hovering around 34C/93F with the heat index ... hot and sunny. My least favourite type of weather. :P Still, an early-turning tree next door has just begun to show its fall colour. Autumn (and those crisp, invigorating temperatures and glorious air quality) is just around the corner! :D

We had a last blast of summer this week. Isaac missed us when moving north so instead we had far more intense heat again. 105F yesterday. But we had the first of many "cool" fronts move through last night. I say that with slight sarcasm because our high today is supposed to be 101F. ;)) But each day this week is going to get progressively cooler until this Saturday when the high is supposed to be 77F! :-o
Very happy for the cooldown! (And it's the Fair this weekend too so added bonus! :D )
