We might be in for a bit of snow this week,

We heard that on our news here, that south-o'-the-lake will probably be getting the first (light) snowfall. :D We didn't receive that beautiful white stuff, but our first frost arrived early this morning! :D/ Whilst it was not a really heavy one, every blade of grass was christened with white ... really pretty and soooo sparkly and crisp. This is the first night we dropped below freezing: when I went out for my walk at 6 this morning, the temperature was -3C/26.6F. L.O.V.I.N.G. I.T.!!!

Hurrah for those cooler temperatures, Glimmie! :D

Feels good to be able to sleep under the covers again instead of on top of them.

;)) I bet! I've always thought that, in the hot, humid weather, it would be nice if we could somehow sleep hovering about 6" above our beds, which would help with airflow, because when it's that warm, I can't stand anything touching me, lol.

Looking forward to a good, long hike this Sunday afternoon, with daytime temperatures around 10C/50F. Believe it or not, there are still some green-ish trees, although even they have begun their colour change now, yet barely. This fall has been so prolonged, so while there are loads of leaves on the ground already, many more are to fully turn and fall. *loves crunching along through the woods with the scent of bonfire and moist earth and leaves in the air* And the stars look so much closer and brilliant on these fresh nights. ♥

In the meantime this morning, I'm mourning our second freeze of the year as I completely forgot to bring my plants in last night. :(( My fault entirely but pretty much everything that was in the backyard that I was planning to overwinter is now either dead or dormant. :(( Ah well.

But I'm really happy for all of you people that enjoy the cool/cold weather. It's been a long hot summer. Even my heat-loving self has been enjoying this lovely fall. :)

Oh no, fantasia! :( :( :( That's really disappointing. Speaking of which, just as dark set in last night, I brought in my two hibiscus (one is a more like a very small tree; the other is still a plant size): they do not handle cold well, nor do they appreciate being moved, so they will go into a dormant stage now, and hopefully revive in time for Christmas, and be filled with their gorgeous red blooms again. :) Many of my more hardier outdoor floral plants survived the night, although they are beginning to look quite 'fall-ish', as their leaves take on the distinctly autumn-yellow tone.

Even my heat-loving self has been enjoying this lovely fall.

:D

Well I think just about everybody I know in my state got snow yesterday except for us :P (I find in funny how we live in the snowbelt and how it still comes later) This is good for my roommate though since she didn't bring her winter coat here yet. It did rain though, well sort of. It was more of a heavy falling mist. Lake Ontario produces some strange whether patterns :P Mix of Sun and clouds today however.

It's going to be in the 50's (F) next week... Perfect! B-)

@FK sorry about your plants :(

It's snowing here today! It's so crazy! I had to go to school today because for our senior trip we go on a missions trip (it's a Christian school) and we needed to practice the skits and stuff we are going to do. my school is about an hour up north and so the snow was terrible, but where I live it was barely snowing and mostly raining. My dad didn't think it was that big a deal, but it was a pretty bad storm up north. I drive a lot but never in the snow, so I was scared to death. I was pretty sure I would get into a car accident and I was praying the whole ride. Thank God I made it home safely! I was really mad that my dad didn't seem to care that much.

I've been watching the coverage of the big East Coast snowstorm with interest. Kind of odd to see it happening to someone else. ;))

We had a few snowflakes this past weekend, along with about 90 seconds of sleet, some clear skies with blustery winds...just about everything at one time or another.

Tonight's little trick-or-treaters had very seasonal weather - temps in the low 40s F (around 7C), partly cloudy skies with little wind.

I'd be remiss if I didn't reminisce about our own weather legend of October. 20 years ago tonight, snow was flying fast and furious in the 1991 Halloween Blizzard. Only 8.2 inches fell that night...followed by 18.5 more the next day. Areas north of here received over 3 feet of snow. A number of records were set then that still stand.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

It's especially funny for me because my parents called me and said "It snowed again." And it hasn't snowed here at college yet. Though we're in the snowbelt the earliest storms tend to miss us because we are right on the lake.

In fact the sky is actually blue today- I'm amazed!!! (don't worry I'm sure it'll rain some by tomorrow)

Ahead of a big low pressure center, tomorrow's high could hit a balmy 60F/15C. That's over 10F higher than average. :) A fire is in the offing, to celebrate.

By Sunday, there could be snow falling northwest of here, but we shouldn't get any from it. Soon...very soon.

Temperatures in northern Minnesota have already been around 15F/-9C. Ah, winter's coming.

After a 5-week dearth, I spotted the International Space Station last evening. It wasn't very high or bright, but still nice to see.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Lilygloves, I'm thankful you stayed safe. It can be scary driving in snow.

We had a few snowflakes this past weekend

We have not yet seen snowflakes, but have had a few good bouts of sparkling frost. ♥

That Hallowe'en blizzard must have been quite something, 'gazer', wow!

Did you end up getting rain this week, wolf?

We're settling in to a nice pattern with daytime temps hovering around 9C/48F and nightimes just below freezing. Marvelous walking and hiking weather, simply mahhhvelous. :D Hoping to get a couple of hikes in this weekend, since no rain is forecasted.

The later leaves continue to turn, and there are a lot to fall yet, even though many other trees have been bare for awhile.

Like you, stargazer, I am beginning to see ISS passes again. It's great to have the dark descend earlier now, so we have all the more opportunity to star-gaze. There have been a few Iridium flares, as well, although we missed the brighest one (-8 mag) because of ... clouds. P

EDIT: This early morning was brilliantly clear (at -2C/28F), with Orion spread out in the SW, bright Jupiter in the West, and red-tinged Mars in the eastern sky. I think Saturn is in the lower SE just before dawn (have to double-check with skyandtelescope on that), and I believe I saw it this morning, but the sun's glow coming up from below the horizon was already blushing the sky there.

Haven't posted here in a while. "Summer" is long over. We have cooled down to the 70's in October and now we are 'chilly' with temps in the 60's for highs and approaching 30's for lows. Most El Pasoans have broken out the winter clothes, even though we haven't had a freeze yet. But it sure is nice in the afternoon now.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

No, I'm thoroughly shocked! :-o Still cloudy though, so it's coming. Winter's coming too, it's getting colder (I really need to locate my hat actually)

We had some good rain today and got .48" total. High temperature was around 59F/15C.

More rain coming this Sunday. The hot days are pretty much over for the rest of the year.

lol, GlimGlum. :)

It's 49F/9C out there right now, with crisp blue skies...but that is about to change.

Normally we've had snow by now, but not this year (beyond a few flakes). The big storm moving through Kansas may bring 1-5 inches (2-12 cm) of snow here by Wednesday night. (I guess it's time to put away the shorts and dig out the winter coat. ;)) )

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Glad to hear of your cooler weather, Fencer. :)

;)) Glimmie re your Spoiler. I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable as stargazer though. :D And 'tis good to know of your wet and more comfy weather as well. :)

Does that snow look like it's going to hit your area tonight, 'gazer? I read elsewhere that DTR's area was having snow, and that driving was becoming quite challenging.

We may see a few flurries (our first!) on Friday, but I'm not holding out too much hope, even though I want to. :P

Hi narnialuver, and welcome not only to the forum, but to the Weather topic. :) Do you get snow in your area or are you in a more moderate part of the continent?

Actually, today in our corner of Canada was nearly 16C/61F! Whew, that's warm for us for this time of year. Tomorrow it's all dropping to highs around 7C/44F and just below freezing at night. That's more like it! :D
