It's always hard to hear about forest fires.
It was really big droplets but you barely got hit 'cause they were spaced so you could walk between them...
That gave me a chuckle.
It has been getting chillier and chillier...and I love it.
An enthusiastic LIKEWISE from me! (Btw, great sig, mm!)
Snowflakes in northern MN, 'gazer? Wow! Mind you, a few hours north of us, the temperature is hitting 0C/32F. There are perfectly clear skies, otherwise they might be seeing a bit of the white stuff too. In our area, we're dropping to 4C/39F. This weather is so AWESOME! And it's wonderful again to enjoy brisk-walking in the quiet early morning (around 6 a.m.) under the still dark sky, with Jupiter blazing in the SW, Sirius in the SE, and the Hunter (Orion) high in the south.
More and more trees are showing their first hints of colour-change ... so pretty!
In exactly a half hour, there is a -8 Iridium flare high in the ESE, and a totally clear night on which to enjoy it. I've found that in the autumn, even a -4 seems so bright, so it'll be fun to see a rarer -8 flare up with brilliance.

There was indeed some frost on the pumpkin this morning, with a reported low of 30F/-1C. I even closed the window during the night.
It happens that the area receiving snow included that large (now over 100,000 acres) Boundary Waters fire. It helped only slightly, as the snowfall was quite light.
Check out this NOAA satellite picture of the fire's smoke plume. (The effects still extend past Chicago, even though the picture shows the plume only reaching into Michigan's UP). Skies here remain slightly hazy, in part from the smoke.
A -8 flare jo? Enjoy!
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Minnesota is now turning to fall and winter. This morning we had our first frost, and now the only thing in our garden we can pick pretty much is carrots.
Today I actually wore jeans and a long sleeved shirt it's getting that cold. I think the high today was about 60 degrees F at the most.
Goodbye warm days, hello famous Minnesota winters.
Australia is experiencing Spring at the moment. Where I live, in South Australia, the weather is now warming up (it's about 25 Celcius) and the dry grasses and pollen are beginning to fly through the air causing some hay-fever. The nights are a bit balmy compared to the cool nights we've had up until recently. I can't say I'm a fan of Spring.

We got a monsoon last night. At 10:00 I started hearing the thunder and it was just a minute later, rain started to hammer us followed very shortly by sideways hail. Initial reviews of the house indicates no broken windows but we may have a cracked sunroof in our back hall. The 18 acre campus we live on is full of lakes that will take some time to dry out. Good news is that we REALLY needed the rain. Bad News is that the weeds are happy and with our weeding equipment down (finances in ministry is really poor right now) getting back on top of them will not be fun.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
Autumn begins (in the Northern Hemisphere) tomorrow at 0904 GMT, and temperatures here will be quite seasonal, with frost again likely this evening and highs tomorrow in the low 60sF/15C range.
Temperatures will actually rise significantly by early next weekend.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
I can say that here in my country the weather is CRAZY! one hour it rains... ten minutes after it's hailing and then out of nowhere..... cloudless! it means that all the days are hot and cold at the same time without caring the season... this is getting me Mad!

Well, summer is no more, and autumn has risen, and so has the cold weather.
This morning it is very cloudy and the temperature where I live is currently in the mid 40's (F). I made the mistake this morning to go get the newspaper in with only my pajamas on with no socks or shoes. It wasn't as cold as I thought it was though. Living in MN, I guess I have adapted to the cold.
Well, before I know it, we'll be getting our first snow fall of the year.
We are gradually getting cooler. After 5 straight days of 90F-95F, it is around 85F today for the high. Still a little too warm at night but that should start changing day by day.

Where I live, in Northern British Columbia, Canada, we got no summer this year. It was rather sad. We got one week of warm weather and that was the week everyone had to go back to school. I went to Mexico in May and came back home in June and spent my first week back wearing a hoodie, fuzzy socks, earmuffs, pyjama pants and a toque. The weather hasn't changed much since then. It's just gotten steadily cooler.

Then, Nioniel, I should move from my part of Canada to yours ... because our summer was 'dreadful', in terms of heat.
September has been a more comfortable month, but still on the warm side. Today, though, the very last day of September, it's all changing quite drastically. A cool, gusty north wind is blowing in colder temperatures, so instead of hovering around 20C/68F through the day, we'll be dropping to 9C/48F for tomorrow, with a brisk breeze and more showers. Tonight is heading down to around 4C/39F, and I can hardly wait to get out in that crispness early tomorrow morning for a good long energetic walk.
We've actually had a fair bit of rain in September, which our parched, dry grounds really needed.
Loving this upcoming weather! I don't tend to put away my sandals until the snow flies, and sure get odd looks when the temperatures begin dropping like this.

LOTS the penguin.
We hit 90.7F/32.6C today with similar temperatures through Sunday. But by Tuesday we will finally drop 15F-20F degrees and may see some rain next week. The heat is slowly fading away...

The last week in Milwaukee was generally cool and cloudy, with occasional rain and even hail and waterspouts in Lake Michigan. But on my return trip west yesterday, I saw lots of fall color.
Today here in the Twin Cities was a glorious autumn day, around 55F/12C with crystal clear blue skies. The fall colors are advancing rapidly in the maples, though many trees are still green.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

You got it! Glimmie, sounds like you will be experiencing more manageable temperatures soon, hurrah!
Ah, yes, stargazer, colours. A few of our trees have more than half turned, but most are still green. Because we have had so much rain, and not very much sun, the oft-vibrant hues have been muted so far this season. Here is a brief article with further explanation.
Still, it's a most wonderful time of year. The wild wind today, along with swirling leaves, is so invigorating! I'm itching to go hiking! Hopefully tomorrow ...

It's raining. It's a really cold, windy rain too... đ
On the bright side... the leaves are starting to turn
