It's going to be a good week. Only one day scheduled to be in the 90's. The rest of the week is only supposed to be in the 80's. This is a MAJOR relief from the excessive heat we've had this summer. Our days of triple digits appear like they may be at an end.

I confess, wolflover, when I read your post my immediate thought was a tornado had touched down in The Netherlands.

We had awesome camping weather over the long weekend...variably cloudy and comfortable (though lows around 40F/4C meant I had to get all the way into my sleeping bag!). The nights were clear and starlit, but with a definite crispness in the air that reminded us that autumn - and even snow - aren't that far away.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Apparently the forecast I posted above is wrong. It's all lower 90's this week. Still a relief from the extreme upper 90's and triple digits. But still hot nonetheless. We are close to finally saying goodbye the extreme heat for this year.

Oh dear =)) I'm sorry my state is so confusing... We have a bunch of places with the same name as more famous places... Pheonix, Mexico, Amsterdam, and Troy just to name a few. Not to mention the fact that they had to name New York City after the state... so people automatically assume I'm from there, and I'm not. By the way our capital is Albany not New York City :P and that's Albany, NY, not Georigia. I guess I should have specified in NY state XD (We also have the largest park in the lower 48- Adirondack State Park, which it nearly 6 million acres... and hopefully you know how to read a map cause there's at least two Loon Lakes (it might be pond I can't remember) there according to our altas....)

[/geography lesson]

It feels a lot more like fall than it has been. I am rather pleased about that :D It's kind of funny though it was like mid-summer one day then mid-fall the next.

Actually, after just an instant I remembered you lived in New York State and thus made the right connection. :)

The temperature shot up to 90F/32C here today, for the second time this month (compared to no days that warm in all of August). 90s in September are not all that unusual here, but this warm weekend may be summer's last gasp.

By Tuesday highs will be much cooler (around 65F/18C) with lows around 42F/6C...with frost possible just north of here. Ahhh.....:)

And local authorities are predicting a spectacular fall color season here this autumn - conditions have been ideal to produce great colors. Book your trips now! ;)

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

I'm glad we are coming down to 90F/32C for the rest of the week. Couple of 100F days recently and mostly mid 90F's for a while so a 6-10 degree drop will be nice for the next 5-7 days. :)

We have so greatly enjoyed the last few days. Like GlimGlum, we have cooled down to 90F. Tomorrow is actually supposed to be 86 with possible rain in the morning. Of course tomorrow is a 5K run/ 1 mile walk that my church is hosting for El Paso's Christian Counseling Center. I would normally run, but I have hardly done any real physical exercise in several months. I've only had one fencing tournament which was a month ago, so I'm doing the walk with my parents. We'll see what the weather does. In El Paso, a chance for rain means somewhere in the general vicinity someone might get rain. And it usually means not us.

I hear the Dallas area is expected to break the record of most days over 100F in a season. Whew!!

"If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" is the cliche around here, but it's true. Yesterday was 90F, and the low tonight will be...

*drum roll*

35F/2C. Maybe even some frost! Maybe we're finally done with the summer heat. ;))

I just had to quote that for this page, because it sounds wonderfully lovely! :D

Yuppers! Back-and-forth; back-and-forth. As with 'gazer's area, as well, we were in the high 80s today, but are dropping by Thursday to the mid-50s, with nights going down to low 40s or even high 30s! :D/ Awesome: simply AWESOME!

I'm glad we are coming down to 90F/32C for the rest of the week.

#:-s *melts* :P

Stay hydrated, Glim and Fencer!

The weather here has been warm for the past few weeks. Mostly due to Winter not being here anymore. Which is good.

My earlier post was incorrect. ;)) Frost and freeze warnings have now been posted for Thursday morning, with lows expected to reach 30F/-1C or even cooler. Cover those tender plants! (But it might take out a few of these mosquitoes too! :) )

'Tis small compared to those fires down in Texas, but a rapidly-growing fire in the Boundary Waters (about 200 miles/320 km north of here) has reached 60,000 acres and has sent smoke plumes as far away as Milwaukee (where they closed the roof at Miller Park) and Chicago. The full moon last night looked a little duller and redder than usual.

We had the weirdest rain shower today...

It was really big droplets but you barely got hit 'cause they were spaced so you could walk between them...

Then later it thundered...

It stopped raining now, but don't worry the skies aren't empty yet. (Lake effect from Lake Ontario for ya!)

We have rain and thunder around us but little more than sprinkles above us. Temps are very nice though. It appears we are in our fabled 'doughnut hole'. The storms literally circle around us but never hit us. We are glad for the sake of weeds that we've not been the funnel, which is the reverse of the doughnut hole.

Today's Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper, in discussing tonight's frost and freeze warnings, pointed out the irony that the calendar still says summer. ;)) (the equinox isn't until a week from Friday).

Our median date for first frost is October 2, so it's a couple weeks early. And I just saw a TV weather report which mentioned snowflakes in northern Minnesota. :)
