Weird weather here: 4-5 days 80F+ to lower 90F's one week. Then this week the high yesterday and today around 65F with rain due tomorrow.
Guess I should enjoy the variety because once the heat hits there is very little relief.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.
The Mind earns by doing; the Heart earns by trying.
'Twas frost on the pumpkin this morning in northeast Minnesota; I had to get out the old ice scrapper to clear the windshield.
It's a wonderful 67F/19C here now, with no humidity or bugs. Frost advisories have been posted for this evening (our average date of latest frost is May 15). By this upcoming weekend it'll be warmer and humid, with rain likely.
The trees have exploded into green the last couple days...that light, bright green of early spring.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
It's sunny and in the high 20's (celcius), and normally this would be a good thing, but oh my word, we need rain SO BADLY right now. There are three small forest fires burning outside of town that are being fueled by a failry persistent wind, and so far they have had to evacuate my work site because of all the smoke. Please pray for rain.
Deep South...in the 60 degrees...in May...strange should be in the 80s.

I was just saying that to my sister... "Where's summer?" hehe

Ok, so far I have been evacuated TWICE from work and had work cancelled today because of the very poor quality of air due to smoke. WE. NEED. RAIN.
It seems to be either feast or famine when it comes to rain this spring, at least in the eastern two-thirds of the US. It rained torrentially here this morning, complete with lots of thunder and lightning. Everything here is so lush and green - and just 2 weeks ago it was all brown with occasional snowfall.
But this excess water will flow down the Mississippi River to those areas which don't need more water. Too bad we can't airlift the excess to the drought-ridden parts of Texas.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Lots of weather happenings since I last posted here...tornado outbreaks in several states among them.
The news here right now is heat...yesterday we set a record high of 99F/37C, and today is expected to be even hotter. (Such temps might be common in warm places, but here we're better known for freezing winter temps than summer heat. ).
And the air conditioner in the car has gone out, making it a warm venture indeed to help move my parents' stuff to their new apartment. Can't wait for cooler temps to return!
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
June brought a pleasant wind that makes it warm and pleasant outside I can't get used to the fact that the sun only fully sets at 11:30 pm and it's only really dark outside at around 1:00 am, It's always so light outside I think it earlier then it actually is

The long days in the summer sometimes fool me the same way, wild rose (though it's not quite as late before it gets dark).
The record-breaking heat and humidity of the last few days (99F/37C both days here) has given way to cooler, more comfortable temperatures. Ahhh...
A sky-related note: CNN and other outlets are reporting about a large solar flare on June 7 which may cause Northern and Southern Lights - maybe tonight! But NOAA forecasters have downgraded the prospects for a good display; the odds are better the higher your latitude. But check out www.spaceweather.com for an impressive movie clip of the flare.

Here it has been rainy and hot. Odd combination... I don't see that here too often.

Yeah it's really strange. It was supposed to have rained all last weekend and it didn't....and now it's really hot, at least where I am.

Nice and cool today, it rained last night and now the air is so fresh It's been rather windy these past few days which is nice cause it's a cool breeze and takes away the heat

I haven't posted here since near the end of March, methinks (very unusual for me), though I have been keeping up with reading the posts.
wild rose, those pictures are quite the same-day contrast! I think both are so lovely in their own unique beauty.
I saw and heard a number of spring birds (like robins and red-winged blackbirds), but they were probably puzzled...the wetlands and forests they live in are still snow and ice covered.
Heehee, we found that too. In fact, on the day of our March 23 snowstorm, the few robins out were clearly upset—very agitated all day. It's like they could not figure out what was going on. Here is a photo I took on that day outside one of our kitchen windows. Poor little guy, all bunched up trying to keep warm amidst the wild weather.
That solar flare is awesome to watch, 'gazer!!
Well, all-in-all, we have had a very rainy spring. Cool-ish, too, aside from when Wednesday's 33°C/91.4°F barely broke the previous record of 32.9°C/91.2°F back in 1959, yet with the heat index two days ago, it felt like 41°C/105.8°F!!! Whew! Thankfully, more pleasant temperatures came yesterday, and we're sitting at a steady, comfortable daytime high of 19°C/66°F for the next few days, with yet more rain on its way tomorrow. I agree, wild rose: hurrah for cool, refreshing breezes.
Because of all our cloudy weather, we have seldom been able to see a clear night sky, let alone Iridium flares or ISS passes. Tonight there is a -6 flare, but once again the sky should be clouded over by then. Still, I'll check ... just in case I can spot it.

Is anyone else being affected by flooding from the Missouri/other rivers from that whole ordeal-thing?
