It's been raining all day today :(( what happened to my autumn sunshine? We had a little sun around 6 pm but it's raining again now. The weather is nice and cold and when the sun is out it is very pleasant to be outside. Everything is so orange, it's only to bad that I can't see the maple trees from my window. Birch trees are nice but maple trees in autumn are the most beautiful :) (at least in my opinion)
I hope we have sun tomorrow
And so much for our rain and snow....you can never trust those weather reports. We were supposed to have snow yesterday, but it didn't even rain yesterday and even though we have rain today there is no snow.

The weather couldn't be much better than it is right now. Still sunny, but the temps are cool, almost enough to give you a chill early in the morning. This is the type of weather I love.

*offers a hearty 'ditto' to Fencer's observation above*

The TV weatherpeople were discussing this very thing yesterday. Last October was one of the cooler ones in recent years, with rain and some snow. The fall colors were not very impressive.

This year is in complete contrast to that. Other than a few sprinkles, the last 2 weeks have been rain-free, with low humidity, clear blue skies, and awesome fall colors. More of the same is predicted through the weekend. Wow! I sense another day trip to visit an orchard, find some Honeycrisp or Sweetango apples, capped off with an evening cookout and leisurely stargazing session. :)

The only fly in the ointment has been the unseasonable heat. Several record highs have been set this month, with some days being more than 20-25 degrees F over average. (Our current average high is 60F/15C and dropping fast). But it's hard to complain with all this sunshine and starshine!

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

The weather has gotten very cold lately, we had snow on the 15th and 16th, and the weather looked very glum, not at all what october is supposed to be like, but now the sun has come out and things are looking much more cheerful :) . There is frost in the morning but it is gone by ten a.m. I am so glad that the sunshine came back, it is way to early for snow if you ask me :)

Got our first real rain of the current rainy season where I live in Southern California. The rain year (for tracking amounts) here starts July 1st. We've had 0.19 inches and is just noon here. Cool also at 61°F. We need it though. :)

Woo, the Typhoon Megi, here in the Philippines "Juan", just left graet damages like floods and blackouts. The rain was signal no. 3! Wow. Strong enough to make a roof fly like a bird! Good thing in our place we only had signal number 1, but classes were suspended.

We are theoretically expecting crazy weather today. Some reports say severe thunderstorms with golf ball sized hail, 65 mph winds, and possibly tornados (very rare for El Paso). Yet the El Paso Times (local paper), barely mentions it as an afterthought. I have no idea what to expect today. All I know right now is that we have partly cloudy skies with little wind. I expect the severe weather to be on the other side of the mountains of where I am. (We really do have a small mountain range that splits the city in two.)

Sandy: Typhoons, yikes sounds scary, I'm glad it wasn't to strong where you were
I know how you feel De_De :(( , our beautiful golden autumn has just been blown away, gone with the wind :(( :(( . Now is one of the times of the year that I hate the most, this gray time of autumn before the winter snows come, sighs, nothing left to do but sit and wait for winter to come with its blanket of white snow.

Our month-long Indian Summer looks to be running out of steam. Today is sunny, and tomorrow may be the last day of 70F/21C until next spring. ;))

(That's way above our average high of 55F/12C for this time of year).

The wind and rain coming this weekend and next week will likely take the few remaining leaves off the trees. With October coming to an end, we're all waiting for the other shoe to drop - snow can't be too far off.

Look up Friday evening at the big bright Full Moon (bright Jupiter will be far to its lower left). This is the Hunter's Moon in the Northern Hemisphere.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

It is 8:50pm and the wind just showed up. We have some pretty impressive gusts right now as our first 'cold front' is due. I am departing for Albuquerque this weekend, so I don't know if I will miss the weather or not.

Wildrose: Yeah, but the tail of the typhoon is near our place so we still experience heavy rainfalls. :-s

Much-needed rain is in our forecast for the weekend. But today offers one last sunny, 70F day for months, so I'm going to be outside this afternoon, perhaps by the fire ring. :)

Snow is in the forecast for northwest Minnesota, but it won't get this far south. But it's inevitable...we're less than 3 weeks away from the average date for the first 'permanent' 1-inch snowfall.
