Here in the city of Christchurch and the province of Canterbury, we talk about the earthquake/effects/aftershocks first, and then the weather afterwards. Even our smalltalk has been changed by the big quake.
The weather has been lovely and warm for a few days!

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."

We have a clear sky this morning, which is really good. I am leaving for the mountains about 2 1/2 hours from El Paso and good weather is really good for driving.

What are you gonna do in the mountains? *Already jealous*

I like the weather here recently, was lots of rain which makes it easy to stay inside and study. Now the nice weather makes it harder, but I'll still take it :p

I was out for an Intervarsity weekend retreat outside Cloudcroft, NM. Jump in elevation from about 4,000 feet to about 8,500 feet. Weather was absolutely perfect. Occasional clouds that threatend rain but never did. Great time for a 600 ft zip line, basketball, soccer, fellowship, and time with the Lord. Now back to the end of summer (though it is officially autumn) in El Paso.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

Rainy...dismal and grey. Listening to some Beethoven with a cup 'o tea and a good book(any guesses on what series I'm reading from? ;) )

Hopefully things will be better tomorrow.....

I like watching sunsets too...a clear sky then means stargazing to look forward to!

Now that the big Harvest Moon has moved out of the early-evening sky, it's time for a couple of astronomy-related public service announcements. :)

Jupiter is that bright object dominating the southeast sky once darkness falls. Try looking for its largest moons in 10-power binoculars, strung out like little jewels to the sides of the planet. Jupiter will be relatively close to Uranus for the rest of 2010, and the other gas giant can also be spotted in binoculars. It's about as bright as the large moons of Jupiter but I find it easier to see since it isn't washed out in the glare. Uranus is now just to the upper left of Jupiter once the planet is in the southern part of the sky (as seen from the Northern Hemisphere). For more info and a pdf map showing just where to look, check out this article.

If you have dark skies and a pair of 10-power binoculars, you may want to try to see Comet Hartley 2 near Cassiopeia in the northern skies. It's about 6th magnitude, which means it's just visible to the naked eye under dark conditions and if you know just where to look. But it will be just a little fuzzball, not a glorious object with a tail like Hale-Bopp or even Comet Holmes a few years ago. Finding it will be complicated by the fact that it's in a part of the sky filled with dim stars and fuzzy star clusters. But if you're up to the challenge, there's more here. That article also links to a printable pdf chart and includes more about seeing the comet.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

It has poured down rain both today and yesterday and I LOVED it!! The creek beside our house was dried up before the rainfall, but now it's flowing again from all the rain!

Wow, rain arrived a while ago. It was heavy, but manageable. I have a fear on rains, hihi, but I still love the rain even though it gives me the creeps. Well, the humid wasn't that high, except in our school. It was cool in the morning, and I like that, and finally, it was cloudy in the afternoon. *feels rejuvenated*.

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

This perfectly describes the weather today! I don't normally like rainy days, but this is a very consoling rain, if that's possible. I just couldn't resist putting in the 3rd verse of this poem-

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

^^ Hey, I sing that song!! ;) Usually when the weather is gloomy, and stuff.
But I can't sing it now, because this fall weather is amazing!!!

We have been having three days of rain and three days of sun for the past two weeks! The worst thing was that a few days ago since we had sunny weather I hung our laundrey outside, but forgot to take it down for the night. And it just had to rain in the night my laundery was soaked :-o !
But today we had a really nice sunset! It was just breathtaking!!!!!!!!!
