I guess all I had to do was return here We had a decent storm a couple of hours ago. Not quite as intense as I was hoping, but it was severe to our south and east and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is up to the east. My hometown also got a good storm and was under a warning. Best thing is we have a couple more chances for storms this week.
Johobbit, I shall try to stop by more often...especially now that school is allllmost over for the summer. The last two semesters have been quite intense. We have really delved into a lot of the theory and associated mathematics of meteorology. Though difficult, I must admit that it is a little cool to see how the math proves different concepts and atmospheric phenomena. I've also gotten to continue doing some extra-curricular programs that have been evolving over my time here, including working for one of my professors. He had me build a website a couple years ago and we forecast for a few of the local high school districts and colleges around here during the winter, since this is supposed to be lake effect snow country. I have to say though...the past two winters have been depressingly quiet!

It only rained for maybe an hour or two at the most today, but when it did it poured.... and I mean it poured! I was soaked just after walking from the school to my aunt's car wich was parked maybe 10 meters away.
At least it stopped and its no longer humid.
Does anyone know any good places to get a pollen report? My allergies have been acting up, but I have no idea whats causing them...

The Weather Channel website (www.weather.com) has pollen reports, once you've entered your location/ZIP code.
A little earlier this evening, we had some excitement when a squall line blew through. A transformer exploded (possibly due to a lightning strike) just down the street. There was a boom and then the lights flickered. Those on the other side of neighborhood went out. A few minutes later sirens announced the arrival of emergency vehicles.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Summer has arrived here in El Paso as well. Today is suppossed it hit in the 90's for the first time this year, and it is unlikely to cool down from here on out. We should be in the 80's and 90's for the rest of the month, before going into straight 90's until September.
But we have it easy. My sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and neice arrive a week ago in Chennai, India from Denver Colorado. It was 32 degrees and snowing when they left Denver and they arrived at 1:30am Chennai time and it was still 90 degrees then. They are in the 110's with 89+% humidity. And thier AC units in thier apartment are not cutting it. And when the nephew and neice are 3 and 1 1/2 years old, that makes it rough. They are still settling in but they love it there.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
For some reason I am missing snow. I only get it once or three times a year where I live. It's perfect too, just three to five inches for one day. I miss it now
It's been hot and humid. Almost Hurricane season

Here too, Liberty. We are experiencing July type weather these past couple of days. The actual temperatures are around 22/23C (around 72F), but with the humidity (huh? humidity in early May? )
yeah, we are having July weather as well! it cooled off last night, but it's hot again today! I can't believe the humidity in May either!
I love hot weather though!

It is 20°C which is equal to 68°F. The right temperature for this tiem of year in my part of western Australia. I don't really like cold weather. Since i really enjoy swimming and water sports.
May has been kinda cold.. April was warmer .
But it's good weather to have around final exams, no temptation to blow off studying and go outside

At least it's a dry heat.
Fencer, did you have any difficulty adapting from the cooler climate of Colorado when you moved south? (Sure, summers are hot around Denver, but there's at least a little cold in the winters).
As long as winters might seem here (though not this year; it hasn't snowed since February!), I'd have trouble adapting to a place where it's 90F half the year.
It's 48F/9C here right now with a cool rain, and that's our high for the day. Temperatures will drop to freezing tonight, and we may have a few inches of the white stuff by morning. It's already snowing north of here.
(We really need the rain. The north half of the state is in a drought condition).

From thunderstorms to wind to snow...such is spring in Upstate New York We had a nice area of rain and embedded thunder Friday night. I finally got to hear the low, drawn out rumbles I have been waiting for since....oh....January? Then the wind picked up big time. Mom said a barn back home lost its roof even!
And, of course, it was snowing this morning. I quite enjoyed it actually. It looked very pretty against the bright green and vibrant flowers at the Church I went to this morning. It is easy to complain about it snowing in May...but it really was a nice, unique showing of God's glory!
Tomorrow looks like it will be a dangerous day in the Oklahoma/Kansas area. There seems to be a high potential for large, long lived, fast moving tornadoes. I suppose the only good thing about the whole set up is that the storms are expected to be the most dangerous before it gets dark. Tornado outbreaks at night are never a good thing. Nonetheless, it sounds like a very serious set up. A graduate from last spring lives out in Kansas and has ties to the VORTEX2 research project, and hinted that the researchers are even a bit afraid....

Darn!
Here in Cupertino CA it's all clouded over and I can't go stargazing (yes, I love stargazing).
It's nowhere near as bad as the weather that Narnian_Storm described though. It's actually pretty nice weather, just clouded over and a little drizzly. I guess I'm just a spoiled californian.
Proud supporter of Blarghefur!
thanks for the avy and sig, Eustace+Jill!
Today it felt like winter all over again, Thank goodness the sun made it feel a bit cool during the mid afternoon to being warm. Right now it feels like it could snow again, but it's just 44 degrees now, not even close to snow if there was precipitation.

As Narnian_Storm said it snowed this morning, I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't worrying about the poor trees (I think they'll make it though ) It was extremely windy both today and yesterday. It was also very cloudy today.
Yesterday we had a feild trip out doors in Bolton Landing (at the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course) and of course it rained all morning, and just as we left to return home it became sunny. And our cable went out for the second time last week
Friday was much better, much more sunny... and tons of birds out (I ranted somewhere about that already, I think it was under Things that Make Your Day, so I'll be breif... Birdwatching was Awesome!)

April showers bring...
May snowflakes?
We did indeed get snow the other night, though not in the quantities our New Yorkers did. It was the big, wet, heavy stuff and it melted by morning.
Now it's blustery and cool with more rain in the forecast.
Stargazing and birdwatching - two great outdoor activities!
