Thanks for that summary of your weather, Fencer. I found it fascinating...though I'd have trouble adapting to a place that rarely sees snow and doesn't go below 0F in the winter (perhaps when I'm 70 or so I'll see things differently )
I know what you mean, mm1991! The weather here (especially in spring) can vary like that.
Whilst enjoying my constitutional earlier today, I noticed itchy, watering eyes and a headache. Yup, spring is coming - and with it, the maples are bursting into life. Claritin (R) will be my constant companion for the next 6-8 weeks until they're done making pollen.
And with unseasonably warm temps forecast for this week (up to 75F/24C), I think it's safe to say the Twin Cities will indeed set a new weather mark unrivaled in the last 150 years or so for which we have records: a snowless March. Just amazing! Sometimes we still can measure the snow on the ground in feet rather than inches this time of year.
Not to worry, though. We frequently get snow in April, and our possible snow season extends to May 28. There's still time.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
It was windy and raining last night. The electricity went out for about a minute, but it was pitch black and I couldn't find my light that was on the desk! My sister was holding on to me, and I kept imagining that I was going to touch something like bigfoot that had come in my room when the lights went out. At least the lights came back on.

I was in Albany earlier and it was very windy today (Albany's our capital by the way not New York City). It was chilly too, if it wasn't for the wind I probably would have enjoyed the temp more. (Really odd, since I like wind and cold temps, just not together.) Its cloudy out to so its probably going to rain again. I had to empty my bird bath since it froze the other day, but we still have all of the feeders up (after the crows knocked down the one-again) but were still getting birds despite the odd weather patterns. I saw my first spring robin yesterday (actually I saw about 10 robins yesterday) I was listening to the news and apparently its going to be a bad season for maple syrup, because the weather patterns have affected the trees production.

It is very windy and rainy here in PA. It has calmed down a little bit, but it is still howling otuside!
"Are you sure you're eighteen?"
"Why? Do I look older?"
More rain. It has been raining for at least 5 days now (at least it seems like it, I honestly can't remeber when it started.) Our soil must be extremely absorbent cause we haven't had any flooding locally (thank goodness ) I like rain, but this is rediculous. At least though when it does subside you get that fresh recent rain smell- almost as good as pine... almost. Too bad I don't live in an Adirondack forest, if it was raining there I'd be in heaven

I thought March was supposed to be "in like a lion and out like a lamb" not "in like a lamb and out like a lion".
I thought it could be either. We're definitely going out like lamb, but it also came in like one, so not sure how that works.
Ahaha, Fencer, I sure bet that Boulder, CO's weather is vastly different from west Texas'. Wow, eight months of summer where you are, though. I just could not handle that, heat-wimp that I am. 'Twas interesting reading about your seasons.
a snowless March. Just amazing! Sometimes we still can measure the snow on the ground in feet rather than inches this time of year.
Us too. It is amazing!
Wow, kittengirl, that's a bit unnerving ... blackouts are kind of exciting, but kind of scary too, especially at night when no candles are at the ready, and one has no idea for how long the lights will be off.
Yes, we're not having a good maple syrup season either, wolfloversk, for the same reason.
Sounds like exciting weather, narnialover4! Is the storm supposed to last into tomorrow?
Too bad I don't live in an Adirondack forest, if it was raining there I'd be in heaven
Mmm, I, too, just love the scent of forests when they're wet/damp.
Our temperature is climbing all week from near freezing last weekend to a very dramatic 29C/84F this Friday with a bit of humidity (blech), then gradually dropping some again. Whew! That's a summer day for us ... and at the beginning of April, no less! I'm thinking this may be hitting, or breaking, a record.
I just returned from my walk and tonight is so refreshing, with the temperature at 5C/41F and the sky as clear as clear. Venus is becoming more visible in the lower western sky shortly after dark and as beautiful as always. It's good to see it again.

March is just about into the record books. We did indeed experience our first snowless March in the last 150 years or so for which we have records, but it happens that every day - save one - was warmer than average - sometimes by 20F or more. We may set a record high tomorrow.
But a warm spring here doesn't always herald a hotter-than-average summer, thankfully.

It's always pleasant to have lovely weather. But sometimes, just when you're happiest, listening to music, basking in the presence of your beloved queen, who's head you are not fit to hat even if she lets you do it anyway, along comes a Jabberwock. Then your whole village will burn down and your queen will have to flee for her life before her wicked enormous-headed sister steals her throne. It is rather a bother when that happens. Hopefully Alice comes along soon, naughty girl, and then it'll be time for the snicker-snack! I do love a good Jabberwock beheading in the morning. You can make the most amazing hat decorations with its scales, you know.
It's very nice here today! It's looking like we'll mostly have a clear sky, so the sun can shine brightly. The temperatures have warmed up nicely without being scorching. Simply a lovely day for crop-growing!
P.S. Eat more cereal!
Some days you battle yourself and other monsters. Some days you just make soup.
it is going to be 80 degrees on Easter here in New Hampshire! wow! last Easter, it was 20 degrees!

Today is...
April 1, April Fools Day, Last day before easter vacation, 1st day of trout season in NY, 1st day of national poetry month, and the first sunny day we've had in weeks.
Celebrating, what a perfect day to go fishing...
Unfortunately I can't today
But the weather is gorgeous, not much wind and its just warm enough but not too warm

We had great grain-growing weather here today, Demeter, so General Mills should be making more cereal for your dining pleasure.
Our high hit 80F/27C today, for the first time this year (the average date of first 80F is May 5 so it's quite early). We're just short of a record high for the date.
Tonight's forecast low (62F/17C) is a typical low for late June.
There might be a campfire in the backyard this evening.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
We had a lot of wind yesterday, which is typical El Paso Spring. Gusts of 50-60 mph translates to dirt which = brown out. At UTEP I live about two miles from the Franklin Mountains and I could only see the closest ones. You don't want to be outside in that and if you do, you don't want to open your eyes or breathe. Today is suppossed to be better but a chance of rain (which usually translates to a few drops if anything).
Colorado weather is anything but predictable, especially this time of year. Spring is often all four seasons. We can go from summer to winter either day to day or in the same day. I have seen it go from 70-80 degrees in the middle of the afternoon to sub-freezing and snowing in the span of one hour. Spring is also when the wind hits full force and they get 120-140 mph gusts. March and April are the big snow months.
Summer gets warm, often into the 90's, very rarely in the 100's. But many July afternoons see late showers, which does great to cool things down. But Colorado is also in Tornado Alley, and you don't have to get far away from the mountains to be under a threat.
Fall is very pleasant, but you have to plan for summer and winter at the same time. I've had a snow day on the last day of Summer, and I've experience summer in November.
Winter can get cold (but not cold to the northern/northeaster folk). Highs can get into the 40's and 50's, and lows are frequently sub-freezing. There is usually one or two weeks each years that gets the deep freeze. That is when the highs are single digits at best, sometimes sub-zero and the lows are 10-20 below zero.
That's all in the Boulder, CO area. Go up into the mountains and it gets more chaotic. We have a saying that if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
It is soo pretty here today! Perfect for Easter! Happy almost Easter everyone!
The trees are bloomed and my mom is sneezing. I love this weather.
