A few of the east coast cities (like DC and Philly) have more snow on the ground than we do. But a winter storm warning for the next 36 hours may bring enough snow (up to 12 inches) to help alleviate that rather embarrassing situation.
It's already beginning, and the roads tonight were like skating rinks in a few spots, even with the plows/salting trucks out.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Yesterday was so freezing cold...it was 19 F out! Today it isn't as cold but still extremely chilly...PLEASE COME SPRING!!!
it's been cold, like GTG said, but there's been a lot of sun that has melted lots of the snow! yay!

It has been freezing, really dry, but freezing. I like the cold, but I don't think I like it this cold unless there is snow.
*edit* I meant if there is snow, not if there's no snow- I fixed it

I hate cold unless it's summer and I'm cold b/c the AC is on
I left early this morning for school because it was snowing all night, but I guess not early enough! Every road leading to school was slow or completely stopped and so I was 20 minutes late to my first class. And coming home from work I was sliding all over the place lol.
I love snow but it makes driving insane
it was 42 degrees today! yay!
spring is coming!
but it's still Februrary.....ugh!

It was really sunny today, but it's supposed to snow tomorrow. It was also pretty cold again

Ugh we're supposed to get around 5 inches of snow tomorrow
And jo, the maps look like you might be on the north end of this one, so you might get a little snow.
Yes! And the snow has begun already, about 6 p.m. (EST) tonight. I just got back from a walk and 'tis sure blustery out there. It is supposed to get heavier overnight and fall ('though somewhat lighter again) much of tomorrow, but with a lot of blowing and drifting. Whilst Toronto is only expecting a few inches, we, at the western end of the lake, could be receiving nearly 10" which isn't anything like the eastern states have received, but for us, this winter, it's quite the milestone. Now I'm wishing we'll receive a few more of these storms before winter subsides.
As for temperatures, we're hovering around -5C/23F during the day and -10C/14F at night, but feeling colder with the wind. We're heading up north this weekend, where they've had large snowfalls all winter long. I'm really looking forward to reveling in that beauty and hiking on the snow-covered trails. EDIT: I'm also hoping at least one night will be very clear because the night sky is stunningly glorious out in that countryside.
I'd die if we got that much snow again
I would feel like I had died too ... died and gone to heaven, I'd be so happy. Oh, that's not what you meant?
Glenstorm, you mentioned flowers. Our earliest growth won't be showing its face for another couple of months yet.
Did you get around that 12" of snow yesterday, stargazer?
Wow, sounds like a slippery situation you had yesterday, TheGeneral. Did it get even worse last night, or was it beginning to let up?
I'm glad that it actually snows at the college I'm gonna go to. (Let's hope I don't jinx that too)
I sure hope you have some wonderful snowy college winters, wolf.

Enjoy your snow, jo! Your recent temperatures sound very close to ours, though now the temps will be getting a bit cooler (-5F the next couple nights) - but nothing like what it could be this time of year, so no complaints.
Our 3-day winter storm is finally winding down, though it's not nearly as big as the one out East. We only added about 10 inches to our total.
It's been cloudy for about a week, and I'm looking forward to seeing the sun and stars again, maybe as soon as tomorrow night. I've lost track of where the Moon is (which sometimes happens during a long cloudy stretch...usually I have a good notion of its phase and location in the sky).
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

yeah..um...not what I meant.

*sigh*
I hope we get to see grass in the next couple months. - maybe by Easter (April 4).
It's a cozy 8F/-13C here right now, but just west of here it's -17F/-27C. Now that's invigorating!
Washington DC is once again being hit by a storm that's impressive even by snow country standards - winds up to 60 mph are whipping around snow that's been piled into 9-foot high drifts. No work or school today!
The Chicago area was hit by a 3.8-magnitude quake early this morning, but so far no injuries or significant damage has been reported. Quakes are very rare around this part of the country.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Wow, Washington DC is surely getting dumped on in extraordinary measures!
And interesting about the Chicago earthquake. I wonder if any of the NarniaWebbers who live in and around that area felt it. Apparently it could be sensed from Wisconsin to Tennessee! We traveled through (or around) Chicago a number of times this past summer, so it doesn't seem like such a faraway place anymore. (Lovely looking skyline.)
Earthquakes up here are very rare, as well, but one significant quake (albeit small, more like a large tremor) stands out in my mind. Our middle son was in the process of being born when I felt the room shaking. I thought I was hallucinating, but it was actually a small quake centered out in Lake Ontario. (I can't recall the magnitude.) Now in university, we tease him he's been shaking the world ever since.
You got 10 more inches, stargazer? In our winter (miniscule) accumulation thus far we've had less than that. Even the 'storm' (if it can be called such) we're receiving today is showering us with much less snow than anticipated. The roads are very slick, though, and extra care is needed whilst driving. As I mentioned in the Town Square, one of the most picturesque sights is falling snow against dark evergreen trees. So beautiful!
I've lost track of where the Moon is (which sometimes happens during a long cloudy stretch...usually I have a good notion of its phase and location in the sky).
That's such an odd feeling, isn't it? It's somewhat disconcerting when the clouds have overtaken for a few days or more and when once you see the clear night sky again, everything has (naturally) shifted.

It's snowing again... I did see some grass just yesterday, but this morning, when I woke up, there world was white again...
I have to go to school by car and it's so cold...If it was up to me, it would be spring allready!
