Yes, wolfloversk, wasn't the moon quite the size on Friday night?! As this Full Wolf Moon rose in the east, in which direction there are a lot of trees near our place, it was both mysterious and gorgeous to see it glowing brightly through the stark branches of the naked trees. I love that sight!
*agrees with stargazer that walking in the cold is very stimulating* I'd much prefer to walk in -5/-10 (Celsius) temps than in warmer climes. My regular walking/jogging times are in the morning (around 7 a.m. EST), when it is still relatively dark (for now, anyway), then again in the evening, around 7:30, quite awhile after night falls at this time of year. To me, there is not too much more invigorating for one's physical well being than stepping outside on a cold, crisp night, with either the night sky blazing clearly above you, or with snow falling, falling, and heading out on a brisk walk.
Ontario's "Wiarton Willie", along with Punxsutawney Phil, also predicted six more weeks of winter. Note the first article is from 2009, but is fun because it gives a bit of the history of Groundhog Day (some of which 'gazer referred to in his post above), 'though centered more on Wiarton, Ontario's experiences.
I just hope our next six weeks are really winter, because in no way have we experienced a good Canadian one so far. Yes, it's been very cold at times, but with the lack of snowfall, it has added up to quite a sad season ... for me, anyway, yet most folk seem to feel the opposite.
So, yes, Happy Groundhog Day to all, no matter if your local groundhog sees his shadow or not.

Happy Ground Hog day although the woodchucks predict six weeks of winter, we're still in the middle of a Jan thaw. No snow, warmer than the last too days, and still abit cloudy. *sighs* I'm seriously hoping the woodchucks are right.

I'm not...hoping they're right that is . I hate winter. It was below freezing today and for some reason I decided to take a shower before we went out...part of my hair was actually frozen! No seriously! I'm so sick of the cold, it was below freezing today...27 degrees F...on average...
Wahoo! the ground hogs were right! It snowed last night and into today, not too hard we only got an inch, but the ground is white.
GtG: The same thing happened to me once, thats why I wait till my hair dries before I go outside. Unfortunately my hair is so thick that that can take forever.

Yes my hair is extremely thick...it usually takes about 3-4 hours to dry completely...
Thankfully we didn't get any snow and actually what snow we have is melting so now we can see the grass again *happiness* !
Ahhh... I jinxed it, the snow is melting.
At least there is no clouds which means stars tonight. But no clouds also means no snow.
And my brother is getting snow in VA again.

Lol jo 30 c is nothing, lol for me anyway, thats like a perfect temp for the day for me. Today it was around that. Same all week hot midday but cool in the morning and night. I think here in WA we have had an early end to summer but we did have the hottest Jan in 15 years.
30C is just way too hot. Give me 5-10C anytime - though it could be a month before it even gets that warm here.
Our grass is currently hidden under a couple of feet of snow, with about 6 inches (15 cm) falling yesterday and today. But that's nothing compared to the monster storm that will bring snow to the US east coast today - up to 28 inches (71 cm) to areas like Washington, DC and Maryland.
That's an impressive total even for places that are used to snow! But I've heard that DC shuts down with an inch or two - so it's going to be a really historic storm for them.
And jo, the maps look like you might be on the north end of this one, so you might get a little snow.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
I hope that storm doesn't hit New England. I'd die if we got that much snow again
No stars, no snowflakes... just a lot of clouds. Although we had a dusting this morning.
I'm glad that it actually snows at the college I'm gonna go to. (Let's hope I don't jinx that too)

30 degrees isn't hot at all. Well then again i am use to it and would think what you think is warm is cold.
Well it's really sunny this morning. I haven't been outside yet, but my dad said it's like 20(F) out. I personally think he's exagerating, he does that a lot.

I'm happy- we haven't had snow for like more than a week except maybe a few dustings and you can actually see more grass! I hope some of our flowers come up soon *wishful thinking*
Wahoo there's stars out tonight, unfortunately I can't see any constellations from inside my house. And I'm not going outside because a) it's freezing out and b) it's 11:01 P.M. Perhaps my dad wasn't exagerating.

Here, it's cold, cloudy, and just a little bit of snow came this morning, I think, but it wasn't a lot.
