I love the obsure Disney films that we don't hear about too often. That Darn Cat (the old one with Hayley Mills!) is a family favorite! Dean Jones remains one of my favorite Disney actors!. The Moonspinners, Also with Hayley Mills and a very fine mystery at that!
The Million Dollar Duck, Blackbeard's Ghost, and Never a Dull Moment (with Dick Van Dike) to name a few.
One particular film I've been looking for for ages, is called Escapade In Florence ( http://www.amazon.com/Escapade-in-Flore ... B000FP5X2K), and it stars Annette Funicello and Tommy Kirk. It's so rare that ebay hardly ever has it and when it does they sell for 75 to 100 dollars! The cheapest one on Amazon write now is 44...
I'd also like to see Justin Morgan had a Horse. A book I loved. I didn't even know Disney made a movie about it till I stumbled across it on Amazon one day. Another really rare and expensive film... ( http://www.amazon.com/Justin-Morgan-Had ... 217&sr=1-1)
This one's nearly 200 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar and siggy by lover of narnia!
I love some of those old movies; some of these I hadn't even heard of and some I haven't heard of for a long time!!! I have some of those older ones in my queue on Netflix (The Happiest Millionaire and The One and Only, Original Family Band).
I like Summer Magic (with Burl Ives and Hayley Mills), except for the ending; to me it just stopped in the middle of the story.
I also love the music from that time period (Richard and Robert Sherman). They did many of the songs from that era. (Title song from That Darn Cat; songs for Mary Poppins, Happiest Millionaire, Summer Magic, etc).
Love God, love people
Satrgazer: yes, Bambi! I remember watching that one years ago! I must have been 7 years old..... wow! I have not seen that movie in ages!

You enjoy the older Disney movies? Yet you didn't mention any. Those you mentioned were from 1994 and later.
I noticed that too^^
My favorite Dinsey would have to be Bambi. It's just so sweet and carefully made...the hand-drawn art in it is so beautiful. They don't make movies like that anymore.
I also like The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmations, and the two The Rescuers movies...those were the ones I grew up on. Incidentally, those were also ones my dad picked up in Dubai (pirated versions ) and I've found differences between those and the legitimate versions...cut scenes and such. Makes my childhood Disney experience seem more special.^^
A Disney film of Justin Morgan Had a Horse? I'd like to see that one too! Two good things, Disney and Marguerite Henry...can't go wrong, I'd think!
This is probably discussion for Present Movies, but has anyone seen Princess and the Frog yet? I'm a bit skeptical...
Regarding The Princess and the Frog, I haven't seen it yet, but want to. I did see the new show from it at Disneyland and really enjoyed it, especially the music. I hope the movie is as good.
And for Christmas, I got some Disneyland pins (big surprise ) and the Hidden Mickeys (Disneyland) book. Next time I go to Disneyland, I will be busy searching them out! I only know where a few are and I know places where some are supposed to be, but I just can't find them! I can't wait!
Here are some pictures from "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee":

Sorry for the double post, but I saw The Princess and the Frog last night. It was really good!!! There was a little too much voo doo in it for me and some of it might be kinda scary for little ones, but otherwise it was excellent. The music was great (if you like jazz), the story was a good old fashioned fairy tale, there were several funny bits, and several homages to other Disney things. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is wondering whether or not to go see it.

lol good, I might see that cause it looked funny. I'm more of an old school disney fan, like Aladdin (Genie lol) and Hercules, and The Emperor's New Groove and Mulan. You're never too old for those movies
I'll ditto ramagut about The Princess and the Frog. I really liked it. (I've seen it twice already! )
I wasn't crazy about the voodoo either, but I don't mind it too much since it is shown as evil. (Although there is Mama Odie as well, but she doesn't really use her magic much.) It is kinda scary as well, but I found it was drastically less so the second time around. I really like Prince Naveen. He's already become of my favourite Disney characters ever. The villain's really quite good too (I love what they do with his shadow! In fact, the way they did all the shadows was great!) My only complaint about him is that the way he's defeated made him seem a little lame, but it's sort of fitting, so I'm on the fence about it. My brother mentioned that the music didn't feel quite like the classic Disney music, but I think that's just because we're all used to Alan Menken, and he hasn't grown up with these songs. (Nor have I wandered around the house singing them yet!) I thought it was just as good.
Does anyone else wonder about Dr. Facilier's name? It sounds French, and the only French word I can think of like it is 'facile' which means easy. Is that hinting at Naveen trying to do things the easy way while Tiana works hard for what she wants? Or is it just a reference to New Orleans being 'The Big Easy'?
^I posted that on my LJ last week. MissAdventure said it was a cool idea. My brother gave me that look he does when he's wondering why I haven't been certified insane yet and said I reminded him of our old English teacher.
If I were still young enough that nearly getting frostbite was worth the fun of trick or treating, I would be getting my mother to make me a costume of Tiana's lily pad dress. (I've had so many Disney costumes... Snow White, Cinderella, Esmeralda, the list goes on...)
/rambling. Wow, that was long.

OK, let's set the record straight on 'old school' Disney movies!! The "old" ones are the ORIGINAL ones that were made starting in 1939 (Snow White)!!!! And probably went until Walt Disney's death in 1966. I would consider the 1989 (The Little Mermaid) to the present the newer era. The time in between was, well. not the best time for Disney Animation.
And another thing, the movies are full length animated features, not cartoons. The short animated cartoons that run (or used to run) before the full length feature (movie) are cartoons.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm a Disney purist.
(Oh, and one of biggest pet peeves--the attraction with the ghosts at Disneyland and WDW is the Haunted MANSION; not the Haunted house. Drives me crazy )
Love God, love people
The era, when movies like Beauty and the Beast were made, was called the Disney Renaissance. I was born in 1990, so it was my childhood. Go kids and animators of the 90's!
We have fifteen VHS tapes of Disney animated movies, from the Disney Renaissance and back. I think I remember Mom buying Pocahontas from somewhere, I don't remember the name of the store. It was a long time ago.
Let's see movies, I like Beauty and the Beast and the Fox and the Hound. The scene were the widow has to leave Todd in the woods, I think has made me cry. I also like Robin Hood, and Prince John in it.
Happy New Year.

i would like to mention how funny the 1980's and 70's movie effects are. They are that bad that they are funny.
anyway i loved the diseny winnie the pooh. was my fav show for 5 years.
I adore Disney movies! The first film I remember seeing in the cinema was The Lion King. I've seen several in the cinema over the years, and was disappointed, after all the great movies of the 90s, that Disney gave up on hand drawn animation in 2005. I was so happy when Enchanted came out, and I can't wait for The Princess and the Frog to come out over here (I have to wait until February).
My favourite Disney movies are Pocahontas, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, and Lady and the Tramp but I love lots and lots of others!

Old school according to me, how's that? AKA the 90's, my childhood. Anything older doesn't interest me, and anthing newer is only sometimes good.
I saw snow white once when I was about 6 years old, but I fell asleep, lol (it was 10 at night at a drive-in).

@Amat: Thank you, I knew there was a term that was used for 1989 on, the Disney "Renaissance." I like it.
@AJ: You MUST see the Princess and the Frog when it comes out. I can't believe you have to wait until February!!! That is cruel and unusual punishment! I'm curious, how much do you know about New Orleans? Because that's where it's set (thus the voo doo, the bayou, Mardi Gras, etc). It's an American icon, but in Britian? You'll have to let me know.

ramagut, I agree with you, but I actually divided them into catagories. I talked about it on the second page, but I'll give you the watered-down version of what I said.
What you call the "old" ones are what I call "Pure Disney", which are the ones made by either Walt Disney himself or by those who worked with him (the ones immediately after his death, like Robin Hood, Aristocats, etc.). The ones made mostly in the 90s are what I call "Post Disney". These are the ones made by the next generation of Disney animators who still tried to mostly follow Disney's vision, but started to become slightly more worldly (e.g. revealing costumes, mature plots, more worldly jokes, etc.). The movies made in the 21st century are what I call "Disney the Company". These are the live-action ones that have completely thrown out Disney's vision and have become very worldly (needless to say, I don't approve of many of these movies).
About Princess and the Frog, I'd have to say it's an exception (I guess Brother Bear is the other exception). I saw it and fell in love with it! While it followed Disney (the company)'s latest trend of having mainly black characters (which has been kind of annoying. It's like they're trying to "make it up" to the African Americans! Why can't they just forget skin color and hire actors for their acting ability, and not for their skin color? ), I thought it was very heart-felt and original. True, the voo doo was a little off-the-wall, and I'm not sure some of my younger sisters will like, the overall message was spectacular, and they lacked many of the dirty jokes that dominate most Disney (the company) movies. I have to say that Princess and the Frog gets two thumbs up and four stars!! I'm a member of the Disney movie club, and it's the current featured title, so I'm thinking of pre-ordering it. I'm really excited!
