Hi, everyone!! This is a topic dedicated solely to Kidz - all the funny, quirky, adorable, sweet, and comical things little children say and do - those things that always make us smile and love them so much!! Here are a few questions to start the topic:
What was the sweetest thing you heard a young child sibling/friend say to you personally? I have a historical costume I wear for various national events, and one time when I was in it, two adorable little girls in fluffy pink dresses walked timidly up to me. One hugged my leg and the other whispered "You look like a princess!!" Then they asked if their mom could take a picture of them with me...how could I resist?
What are some funny quotes or stories you may know of that children have said or done?
-A father of six once said to his children, “Hey, kids! Let’s sing ‘Amazing Grace’!” Little Robby (3) grabbed his little tricycle and called out to his big brother Jan (6): “Jan, let’s go! We are going to have an amazing race!”
-A young girl aged 5 came home from kindergarten in tears. They had been learning reading, and the poor child just could not get it. Bitterly she wept over her books "I'm stupid, I'm stupid, I'm stupid..." Suddenly she stopped, stood up, walked over to the mirror and sighed. Then with a smile she said, "But at least I'm pretty!"
-A young mother sewed a doctor's robe her three year old boy to a checkup at the hospital, to inspire the child. He was delighted, and managed to find a plastic hat and shoe coverings to go along with it. By and by he wandered from his mother and entered into a doctor's office. The doctor knit his eyebrows and said sternly,
"And what is this?"
"I'm a doctor!" The boy said proudly, "I'm a micro-surgeon!"
-Jojo (4) was copying the word "cat" a few times, so her mother asked her if she could write it without looking. So she wrote it, and told her afterwards: "I closed my eyes when you told me, but I sometimes had to open them to see where I was writing!”
-While we were out in the car, Kimby (nearly 3) had dropped her stuffed doggy friend on the floor, and was asking me to get it for her. I explained that I would get it as soon as we stopped the car, at which she started asking Daddy for it. When he replied with the same answer, Kimby began stretching down over the side of her seat, trying to reach it while still strapped into place. Exasperated at last, she exclaimed: “Daddy! What we need here is some teamwork!”
What are some extremely wise things a child has said to you or someone you know that completely caught you off guard? I was talking once with a seven year old who was about to go to his first day of school. I can't remember the whole conversation, but I remember he said something like, "I really don't want to go to school, but I have to go, because I have to learn. I'm afraid the big boys are going to beat me up and make fun of me as a Christian, but I need to go, and I need to learn to stand up to them. I'm not looking forward to it, but it needs to happen, and I need to learn." It just shocked me how responsibly he was looking to his first school year...
What are your favorite movie or book quotes that children say?
From E.T. - the boy is introducing E.T. to his younger sister, and he says,
"You can't tell anyone about him, he's only for children,"
and the girl (5 or 6 years old) looks back at him, "Give me a break!"
The Chronicles of Narnia (what else????) - the whole conversation between Lucy and Tumnus has always blown my mind, both in the book and in the movie. It's just astounding!!
Any quotes, stories, discussions, etc. are welcome. All forum rules apply! Keep your posts friendly and polite! Have fun discussing!!

Well, since you asked...
- As my screen name suggests, I'm an amateur astronomer. I've long enjoyed sharing the sky with friends, relatives, and kids.
Many years ago, when my niece (who now has children of her own) was about 6 years old, I was trying to show her the Moon in a small telescope. This was hindered by clouds of mosquitoes which insisted on buzzing in my ears and biting us all over.
The magnification of a telescope means that its field of view is small, so pointing it can be rather fussy. But after lots of bug bites, I finally got the Moon into the field.
My niece immediately grabbed the telescope tube and pulled it down to her eye level, crying, "I wanna see!" (Alas, this meant it was no longer pointed correctly).
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
