Ditto. I can only take so much of it until Matlock gets on my nerves. He is so whiny.

Yeah,I got tired of it too,but I think I might wanna watch an episode soon.
Btw,I LOVE Murder,She Wrote! One time my family went to a beach for vacation and me and my oldest younger sis watched that and Unsolved Mysteries a lot. Unsolved Mysteries is really scary though since it's about real murders. :-s

My favorites are Monk (I agree with you Lark, that one was so cute! I also like the one where

Spoiler
He fosters a little boy for a week or so, and it turns out the little boy is just like him ;))

YES!! ^_^ I wanna watch that one again now! SO adorable!

Monk is the only crime show I ever really watch. We used to watch NUMB3RS but we stopped because they were growing increasingly less appropriate :-s

I think I've heard of NUMB3RS...
Monk's one of the few not-so-dirty crime shows. :p Did you see that one episode

Spoiler
with the magician that murdered his neighbor? I thought it was so funny when that girl was trying to give him the key to unlock handcuffs and he spit it out! ;))

When

Spoiler
Sherona left in the middle of season 3 I was really sad! I like Natalie a lot too but Sherona's attitude really made things entertaining.
:p

When I first started watching Monk,

Spoiler
I didn't even know about Sherona. ;)) I still don't like her hair :P

I just watched an episode of The Mentalist with my sister.

Spoiler
I was so freaked out at the beginning when Grace asked that crook to kill her boyfriend! I thought she was gonna ask him to kill Hightower. :P By the time the theme was over,I figured it was fake or something. Really liked that episode.

It is always interesting to see how the real world does it in comparison to the TV world.

It is interesting. I've often wondered how accurate things are on crime shows and if the charges would stick. Thanks for the lesson on computers. :D

My sister and I watch Murder, She Wrote a lot during breaks from school (well, for her now that I've graduated). We finished watching the 11th season in less than a week. :p (We do other things while we watch. ex. I've been filling out job applications / looking for positions). My sister has seasons 1-11 on DVD. She only has one season left to get. I'm not sure if it has been released yet or not.

I watch NCIS, NCIS-Los Angeles, and sometimes CSI and CSI-Miami.

NCIS is not very realistic, but it's very entertaining and I like all of the characters. Sometimes though, the chatter between the characters can get a little annoying when it's really out of place (like talking about video games when they first arrive at the scene of a murder...lol).
I'm not too familiar with the CSI characters, but the show also has very addicting episodes. It seems like CSI is more gorey, but I'm not easily disturbed by shows/movies so it doesn't really matter to me.

It's interesting how popular this genre of shows is. Hospital shows too, but maybe crime shows a little more..?

Ohh I forgot about that show... sometimes my mom and I watch it too! It's pretty cool!

Monk's one of the few not-so-dirty crime shows. :p Did you see that one episode

Spoiler

I haven't seen that one ;)) What season is it from? I've actually mostly seen stuff from the first four seasons, and a few from season 8 since I started watching it on TV near the very end of everything, and then we got the first few DVDs.
My mom just bought the last two seasons at target today ^_^

When I first started watching Monk,

Spoiler
I didn't even know about Sherona. ;)) I still don't like her hair :P

Hahah.. I like her hair! She can't help that it's so curly :P Natalie's is cuter though.

I LOVED that one. It was adorable. And sad. I felt really bad for the violinist though :(( I liked how they used a variation on the original theme music with the piano in the credits because it fit the mood a lot better.

Aw, I know :( I like that too (I also liked the one with the rapper, where they did the theme song in rap form :P ) Although it was kinda funny when

Spoiler
Mr. Monk threw the money to the wrong guy ;))
That's another thing I love about Monk, even when there are dire circumstances they still know how to have something pretty funny too.

Last night we watched the Monk episode from season

Spoiler
4 where he gets hit on the head, put onto the back of a truck and goes to Wyoming, and has amnesia. And then this rather ugly lady convinces him that he's her husband, and tries to make him do housework for him. It was definitely one of the weirdest episodes ever ;))

Haha, I felt so bad for Monk in that one! Especially when

Spoiler
The woman kept trying to make him think he was a roofer. It just really bugged me knowing that Monk would figure it out, yet people were trying to stop him (I actually wanted to yell at them "He's the world's greatest detective! Just let him solve the crime!" )

What happens when they first get a computer, or cell phone, or any other device with digital data? They often boot it up. WRONG ANSWER!!! Starting up a computer erases all the volitale data, can get a password to lock, or even initiate a program that will wipe the hard drive clean.

Wow, I knew there were some inconsistencies (I'm pretty sure I learned somewhere that DNA testing can take up to six weeks to complete) but not something as major as that!

Monk's one of the few not-so-dirty crime shows. :p Did you see that one episode

Spoiler
with the magician that murdered his neighbor? I thought it was so funny when that girl was trying to give him the key to unlock handcuffs and he spit it out! ;))

Haha, that part was hilarious =)) Just such a "Monk" thing to do! :P

When I first started watching Monk,

Spoiler
I didn't even know about Sherona. ;)) I still don't like her hair :P

I'm not sure when I learned about

Spoiler
Sherona (the first episodes I saw were with Natalie) but once I realized she was in "A League of Their Own" I started liking her a little more. Lol! I don't mind her hair too much, but I don't like the way she dresses sometimes...

I love NCIS, Law and Order: SVU, and Bones, though i prefer SVU the most. Then again though it depends on the mood I'm in. I'll watch NCIS if I'm in a light and happy mood, but I tend to watch more SVU.

Team Edward and Team Jacob are overrated. I'm Team Avatar!

I think Lisbon looks like Emily Prentiss from Criminal Minds. But I don't who the actresses are,or if they're related.

I doubt they're related, but they do both have a strong facial bone structure...

Anyone ever watched midsommer murders?

*raises hand* I don't watch it very often but I am aware of it...my mom watches it more often and sometimes I catch some of it with her.

Anyway I would hate to live in midsommer, after about 5 murders in 5 weeks or so weeks i think i would of left the town.

Okay, I seriously LOL'd when I read this! :)) And I completely agree with you. XD

It seems crime shows ebb and flow with the times. I remember when Law and Order - and later the first CSI - aired. They were nice changes of pace to what had come before, offering a look into the criminal justice system and the new forensics, respectively.

But their popularity meant lots of spinoffs, and it got so you couldn't watch late-night TV without coming across episodes. ;))

I like watching NCIS - and before it, JAG, another military-themed show. And now NCIS has its own spinoff as well.

I watch Castle regularly - admittedly (at first) to see what Firefly's Nathan Fillion was up to. But it's grown as a show, past the 'case of the week' into longer plot arcs. And this season's Halloween episode - which began with an homage to Fillion's Malcolm Reynolds "space cowboy" - was very good. The series usually does a good job mixing serious elements with a bit of humor ("You remind me a little of Hooch" ;)) ).

More on older series later.... :)

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Haha, gazer, I also started watching Castle because I liked Nathan Fillion so much and was mad that Firefly had been canceled. He really is an excellent actor, in my opinion -- he does a lot with subtle facial or vocal expression to really add depths to his characters.

YES! Exactly! ;)) So many of the things Monk does that are really pretty awful, are just hilarious. And super frustrating. Like the time he worked in the office, and he went bowling with his team, and then the annoying guy from the other team called a fowl since he wasn't wearing bowling shoes. And he WOULDN'T PUT THE SHOES ON!! so they had to forfeit. Things that really bug me :p

Apparently Bitty Schram (Sharona) really left the show because of a contract dispute. :/

Sorry, I meant Sharona, not Trish. Sharona may have worn 'interesting' clothes but she was the perfect sparring partner for Adrian Monk. The other lady is just dull. Monk really went downhill after Bitty Schram left.

I was wondering who you meant by Trish. Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. I like Traylor Howard, but I really really miss Bitty. I think overall she made everything more comical and entertaining (and yet it wasn't ever overkill. It really worked).

Sorry to be one of odd ones out, but Monk annoyed me :p I watched maybe five minutes at a time.

I love NCIS: though yes the technology/forensics are waaaaay off. In fact there was a graph on graph jam about it...
http://graphjam.com/2010/04/17/funny-graphs-time-dna-analysis/
Like the scene in Mission Impossible: 2. The scientist runs a DNA analysis on a virus, and it popped up in three seconds flat. I know it's to go along with the story so it won't drag, but still.

But the characters are funny, and so different from each other. That's the whole reason you watch it, to see what Tony will say next and what mishap McGeek will find himself in. And I love Ziva <3

CSI:NY is entertaining, nothing spectacular. L&O: SVU is my favorite Law and Order, again, nothing spectacular, but interesting.

Ooooh I LOVE Criminal Minds. Though I suggest not watching it 2 in the morning, the only one up. NOT cool. I've heard alot about Castle, and the Mentalist, but have never seen when they were on, when do they air?

Burn Notice is Michael just annoys me. It tries so hard and could be so fun, just meh. Same for Psych. Just not my preferred genre.

We used to watch Columbo =O Anyone remember that? Saw the first four or five seasons, at least, before they starting getting repetitive and not so quirky. They were fun, I loved his basset hound, especially when Columbo gave him an ice cream cone then told him to wipe his face off.

I love Columbo. :D I have all of the seasons on DVD. (expect the newest Columbo movies). I didn't watch them when they were originally on (I wasn't born when the regular seasons were on).

It's interesting how popular this genre of shows is. Hospital shows too, but maybe crime shows a little more..?

It is a very popular genre. I guess people like the good vs. evil feel and the excitement. It is also fun to try to figure out who did it. I can't think of nearly as many hospital / dr. shows but then I'm not familiar with very many current TV shows. Crime Shows isn't nearly as specific as Hospital shows. They can include: Police shows (regular policemen ex. Adam-12), Police Detective shows (ex. Dragnet), Private Detective shows (ex. Charlie's Angels), Amateur Detectives (Nancy Drew / Hardy Boys), People-who-seem-to-attract-murder-and-crime Shows (Hart to Hart, Murder She Wrote), Non-conventional Law enforcement Shows ;)) (Mission Impossible), Spy / Agents Shows (Scarecrow and Mrs. King), Criminals Turned Good Guys Shows (It Takes a Thief), Lawyer Shows (Perry Mason, Matlock), and Coroner Shows (Quincy). That's all I can come up with off of the top of my head. Feel free to add to the list. ;))

Many crime shows tend to share plots and/or settings. Examples:
Cruise ships
Movie / TV Studios
Carnival / Circus
Murder behind locked doors
Suicide made to look like murder
Murder made to look like suicide
Ski resorts
Hawaii
People believed to be dead not really being dead (although they might actually die later)
Starting out with a specific number of people and having them disappear or be killed one by one.
Something to do with horses (racing, switching horses, horses being blamed for deaths)
Twins or people who look similar

My lists might be a little out of date because I mostly watch older shows.

Criminal Minds is my all time favorite...I love trying to figure out who did it! I love Law&Order(especially Criminal Intent). I also love to watch Cold Case..the way they solve cases that have been closed for years and have flashbacks of what happened and how it happened and its always the person you least expect! #:-s
