[Closed] Copies, Versions, and Editions

I love to read. And I love it when a friend and I both have the same book. But the most interesting part is when we look at each other's different copies of the same book and compare them. The covers, the pictures, the introductions, the texts, the various translations, etc.

So I thought I would begin a thread where we can all discuss different versions of the things we love. It isn't limited to books, either. It can be copies of movies, CDs, anything you can think of.

I thought I would begin by posting pics of my Lewis and Tolkien collections so far. If anyone wants to know about one of these copies, just ask. Also I would love to know if you have some of the same copies as I do, as well as which copies you prefer. :D

Lewis -- The CoN copies are the little pocket versions by HarperCollins. The other ones I own (if the titles are too hard to read in the pic) are Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra published by MacMillan, the HarperSanFrancisco version of The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce, Harcourt's Till We Have Faces and Surprised by Joy, HarperSanFrancisco's A Grief Observed, Mere Christianity, The Problem of Pain, and Miracles, Harcourt's The Four Loves, And The Abolition of Man and The Weight of Glory by HarperOne. :D

Tolkien -- Houghton Mifflin's Annotated Hobbit, Tales From the Perilous Realm (which contains Roverandom, Farmer Giles of Ham, Smith of Wooten Major, Leaf by Niggle, The Adventures of Tom Bombadill, and On Fairy Stories. Illustrated by Alan Lee), The Children of Hurin (Illustrated by Alan Lee), The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, FotR, TTT, and the RotK. Then DelRey's copies of Unfinished Tales, The History of middle Earth 1-5, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Finally, there is The Legend of Sigurd & Gudrun by Mariner publishers.

We have FotR, TTT and RotK in the 'now an epic motion picture trilogy by newline cinema' version. And we also have FotR in the 'soon to be an epic motion trilogy by new line cinema' version. Actually we have three FotRs in all. ;))

Our Narnia books are some the new ones w/ the cool graphics and some the old ones. I like how the old LWW smells *sighs*. ;))
