[Closed] Christmas Countdown: Me, I want a Hula Hoop - Wishlists

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, only a hippopotamus will do! Don't want a dog, no rhinosocerususes, I only like hippopotamuses! Or, alternatively, all I'd like for Christmas is my two front teeth. (which was reality for me, one Christmas...)

Anywho, this moderater-approved thread is dedicated to sharing our wishlists, which were previously known as Letters to Santa to our young Santa-believing selves. :D

What are you hoping for this year? Anything special? What is something you must always include on your whishlist? Chocolate is definitely on mine. Books, too. :x

Please feel free to drop by and share what your wish list is!

A bit of mine this year:

1. Chocolate-covered pretzels.
2. Acoustic Guitar (I don't know how far I'll go with this one, but I saw a guitar for rather cheap and thought it was worth adding to my list since I've been wanting to learn.)
3. Notebooks
4. Mechanical Pencils. It's become some sort of tradition to use our wooden Ticonderogas and #2 pencils until Christmas, when we get a box of 50 or so mechanical pencils.
5. the classic, Socks. And not just any socks--furry socks!
6. Yarn/knitting supplies
7. Any Pixar/good Disney Animation movie
8. Messenger bag
9. The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer
10. Random books on my to-get list, the specifics of which do not come to mind.

And I'd better stop now. ;)

I thought, also, as we're talking about gifts we'd like to recieve, we could also discuss fun gift-giving ideas or a really exciting gift we got someone that is just perfect for them. :) Feel free to share. :)

I have been enjoying the prospect of putting together gift baskets. I think they're so handy and wonderful. Aslo, a platter full of delicious cookies. Anything with food. ;)

2. Acoustic Guitar (I don't know how far I'll go with this one, but I saw a guitar for rather cheap and thought it was worth adding to my list since I've been wanting to learn.)

Ooh, Bella! The guitar is a really good one. I've been playing for about three-ish years, and it's definitely worth it. I decided I wanted one after having a dream about it, and then ended up buying one for $50 a year or so later. (That was after a lot of prayer and hoping. ;)) ) Don't give up if you don't get one for Christmas. I learned that it's not an impossible dream to have and that God works in mysterious ways. (Chocolate-covered pretzels sound really delicious as well. ;)) )

As for me, I've been contemplating asking for an eReader (or buying one with my Christmas money). I'm not sure if I'm completely sold on one, but I do like the concept of it. Having books instantly at my fingertips would be lovely (and would also make me go broke very, very fast ;)) ). So at this point I'm just trying to weigh the differences between Kindles, Nooks, etc., and see if it's something I really want.

Other than that, I'm really hoping to get Switchfoot's newest CD Vice Verses, and also The Beautiful Letdown. :D

My list is a lot longer than this, but I'll save the rest for future posts. ;))

I'm only asking for sweatpants from the college I will be going to next year. My friend has a pair and they are the most comfortable things ever! I'm also asking for a book about C.S. Lewis. I was going to ask for a few more books by C.S. Lewis but God blessed me and provided like 5 books by him- for free! So I am really thankful for that. I have suggestions of Owl City merch I would like, but I'm not really expecting any specific t-shirt or anything. It's mostly if you want to buy it for me, awesome. If not, I'm ok with that. :)
I do have some Christmas money (I used part of it to buy a new iPod touch, which I love), but I will probably save it for a missions trip I will be going on in March.

So what shall I ask Father Christmas, (that is what we Narnians call him anyway) to bring me this year :-
Peace on earth, and good will to all men. I guess that would be a good start.
Beyond that I have always wondered about those chocolat covered ants that were all the rage when I was a young wiggle.
Tools are always good. Mostly non-moterized. Less noisy, and less chance of accidents.
I see books are on your lists as well. Always a good choice. Historical. Or a good comedy.

What to give others.
I would write my thoughts for the Mrs. But she's in the same room right now :-$
The youngster is thinking of sports more, and hunting, so he is already done, mostly.
In-laws are always difficult. They tend to buy what they want or need, so what to find for them 8-|
out of town, or state is simple. A card, with a picture. Just include something written that is nice.

My birthday is just four weeks before Christmas so I usually make one big wishlist and send it out before my birthday. So, I already got part of what I wanted.

1. Skis
2. A climbing harness
3. A shirt from Cabelas
4. A subscription to Climbing magazine.

I got a climbing harness for my birthday. Yesterday, my mom called and said that she hated to tell me what I was getting for Christmas but skis are pretty expensive. She couldn't find a good pair for cheap enough, so if I wanted skis, she and Dad would pay for most of them but I'd have to pay part of it. So I said yes and I'm getting skis for Christmas! Super excited!

I chuckled when I read the title of this thread. ;))

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, only a hippopotamus will do!...

Can't help thinking of one year I sang that song a few too many times, and my sister gave me a gag gift of a toy hippo. :) Ah, good times.

The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer

Awesome book!

But I digress.

My list this year is kind of short. Chocolate is always good, especially the dark kind.

Minnesota State Parks offer gift cards that can be turned in for camping and parking permits, or anything else they sell for camping. Always a good gift for me.

Number one on my list? Good weather for holiday travels to be with family and friends for Christmas and New Year's Eve.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

I don't have many unique things on my Christmas list this year. It's mainly just the usual - clothes/shoes, books, several movies, art and drawing supplies, music, and chocolate. On my list are several new violin music books as well, and also a wii fit. The wii is expensive so I doubt I'll get it, but one can always dream. :)

I haven't started Christmas shopping yet. For close friends, I usually try to go for homemade stuff rather then store-bought, because it seems extra special. I feel rather uncreative this year, though, so..... we'll see what happens. :p Hopefully I'll think of something as Christmas approaches.

I don't actually have a Christmas wish list :p , I would love if I could get my NaNo novel in book form for Christmas but that is asking for too much, so I guess the only item on my list would be.....*keeps thinking*...uh....for all my friend's wishes to come true....(goodness do I sound lame :p )

1. 2 or 3 new leotards for ballet
3. New clothes
4. Pointe shoes
5. Classical Ballet Technique by Gretchen Ward Warren
5. Anything chocolate, preferably Swiss Colony truffles :D
6. Books/movies

Ehmm, I guess that's it. I think this is the smallest list i've ever had in my life. :P Pointe shoes are on my list as they can be expensive, so I told my mom if she wanted, she could use Christmas money to pay for them, as I don't really mind. I need them anyways, I have to dye, and break them in before my June recital. :)

I almost have all of my gifts pretty much bought for family/friends. Still looking for my sis and dance teachers though... i'd better hurry up, last classes are the 19th. :-s

Books are always a staple item in my Christmas list. Everything else is pretty much up for grabs, but I love receiving movies or TV series and music (and lollies). :)

My family and I are getting my middle brother the Settlers of Catan: 5-6 Player Extension and Catan: Seafarers Expansion and Catan: Seafarers 5-6 Player Extension board games. I don't have anything yet for my youngest brother and my parents.

Here's my 2011 Wish List:

1) The Art of the Adventures of Tintin book (a behind the scenes look at the movie by Weta Workshop)

2) Herge et les Bigotudos a book by Philippe Goddin. This is an in-depth look at the last 15 years of Tintin (1963-1978) and how Herge went about creating the adventures. This book specifically looks at the last two Tintin albums - Flight 714 for Sydney, Tintin and the Picaros and includes some information about the incomplete album Tintin and Alph-Art. Could be very interesting, especially since it's a French book and I don't know a word of French but I plan on (attempting) to translate it into English.

3) Any good books, movies or music.

Can we post what we got other people? Giving gifts is 3/4 of the fun of Christmas!

I got my dad (for his stocking) The Litigators by John Grisham and for under the tree, something, I don't remember what, maybe a skid plate for his snowmachine. I don't remember because it's expensive and my little brother rattled it off over the phone to me and asked if I wanted to go in on it with him with several of my siblings.

For my Mom, my two sisters and I got her a wooden carved bear. We have a log house so you put it on a log and it looks like it's climbing. It's for decoration. I haven't gotten her anything for her stocking yet. I should start looking, hmm.

For my older sister, my little brother and I bought a head lamp that she wanted.

For my younger sister, I bought a blouse that she wanted.

For my younger brother, I bought a set of maps with my sister.

For my other younger sister, I bought a science kit for making crystals.

For my boyfriend, I bought two pairs of Darn Tough wool socks.

And I won't post what I got winterlife because she might read this thread. :p
