Okay, okay. I know October 31st is a sticky subject, but that doesn't mean we can't dress up, right?? What are your plans for your next costume? Are you buying it or making it? Or a bit of both? Care to post pictures? Feel free to, as long as they abide within the forum rules!
(That means, don't post pictures of anyone in revealing clothing or bathing suit like items, and don't post a picture of yourself if you're under 18 and haven't got your parent/guardian's permission.)
Ready? Good! Show us, so we can be inspired, too!
(I'll tell you about the Mad Hatter later....)

The main reason I love Halloween is getting to walk around in costume in public and still have it be perfectly normal. (Then again, I'm a theater junkie so I do that anyway, but... )
The past couple of years I've been pretty lazy with my costume, but I'm going to step it up this year. I wanted to be a steampunky pilot girl, then one of my friends suggested that I be Amelia Earhart. I guess I'm going to have to find some goggles. If our local costume store doesn't have any, I may have to order some.

Well my family doesn't celebrate Halloween, but I am excited about the sales that will (hopefully) come on November 1st. I want to buy an Angelica Teach costume. And, of course, as far as costumes go, my sister is making me a swimable mermaid tail (yes, it has to do with Syrena in OST XD). So, anyway, if it was a holiday we did, I would probably be a mermaid or Angelica. The reason we don't do it is because of the background; why the holiday was started, what it's about, etc.
Oh, you're doing a Mad Hatter costume, Lady A? I haven't seen AiW yet, but I like the tea scene I saw, and Mad Hatter = Johhny Depp = Jack Sparrow (in a way XD). So, yay!

Yup, I'm doing the Mad Hatter as a cosplay, actually. I've been blogging about it, too. You can read about it here, starting about the third post down. That's just all my Alice stuff on that page. I got the corset for it today, so I'm really excited! I'll be taking pictures and blogging about it soon, too.
The way I try to think about this outfit is that its the Hatter's daughter. She's just as crazy as he is, but she's going to bring a certain flair to the costume. And yes, I am planning on becoming ginger for the costume. I think the biggest hurdle is going to be finding a crimper I can borrow to do my hair, and getting my hair up the way I want it to be. I have a lot of hair, so its going to be a bit difficult.

This is the first time I will be celebrating Halloween in years.
I want to dress up but we'll see. I'll probably be something really generic like a cat.

I never had too many good ideas for costumes over the years. For awhile there when I was little I was a dalmatian every year.
I still really like Halloween though, it's a cozy time of the year and so much awesome candy in the house haha! And I always watch some fun movies, usually one comedy and one horror with a Halloween 'theme'.
Ooh, interesting costume, Lady A! I haven't seen Alice in Wonderland yet (gasp!) but that sounds fun putting it all together. And getting to be a little bit crazy, too! So, are you going to name her?

Okay, so I'm actually dressing up as Lady Gaga for Halloween! I don't think however, that I will venture out though, because I haven't done it in a long time. I used to go trick or treating only as a child, during which I was a cat, pumpkin ( ), and a princess twice! My family doesn't really celebrate Halloween because of it's underlying meanings and origins, but I still think of it as a fun way to dress up and find unique things in stores for making your own costumes. And of course there's all that candy, my favorite of which would have to be Mounds! Yum!
Since I'm not trick or treating, my friend and I are planning a grand party where we'll both dress up as Lady Gaga together and eat loads of candy at home. Fear not though, it's not one of her many extreme costumes, just one of her signature looks. I bought this bow wig http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-67421776749544_2176_206967969, and will also be donning a pair of shades I studded with jems myself. For the outfit, I just went to the mall to find a black, leather jacket, a pair of black leggings, high heel boots, and some red gloves as well. It looks amazing! What my friend comes up with will be fun to see though too!
Everyone has great ideas on this thread as well. I'm completely imagining the awesomeness of these costumes and I love the Alice in Wonderland idea. That's a great one to come up with!

Reminds me of a cartoon from last Halloween which shows 8 or 9 people at a party dressed in various entirely different Lady Gaga outfits, each one saying "I came as Lady Gaga"; the punchline being the last person saying "I hate it when we all come dressed as the same thing."
The difference is that people wanted to hear the stories, whereas I never met anyone who wanted to read the essays
I actually haven't named her, Lucy. She's just The Mad Hatter right now.
I'm hoping to do a trial run of the make-up soon, at least the eyes and my hands. My college's costume party got moved (le gasp) and it is not until Nov 4th now.

I'm going as Indiana Jones this year.
I made a whip for it out of duct tape and rope. Yup, I'm resourceful.
If I take pics, maybe I'll post them in here

I have successfully managed to pull off a Halloween costume at the last minute. I am going as Chell (the chick from Portal). As there is absolutely no way I'm going to come up with a portal gun, my husband is going to make me a companion cube. Now the only thing left to decide is if I want to go barefoot like in the first game, or if I want to find some white boots like the second game. (I prefer the latter. It IS cold here. ) I have all day tomorrow to come up with something.
Fantasia Kitty, that's a pretty awesome character idea!
Quinlin, I'm not sure why anyone would want to dress up like Lady Gaga for Halloween (to me she's the very definition of an attention seeker) but I can't fault you, the idea is appropriate given that she's rather scary.

Perhaps you could call her Mad Hattie.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
