Finally, the thread of all threads has been green-lit to open. This is the place to discuss all things Doctor Who. Be it the New Series, the Classic Series, Books, Audio-Books, or anything else, it's all welcome here.
Doctor Who is the longest-running science fiction series in television history. The original series ran from 1963-1989, with a new series starting in 2005, continuing the adventures of everyone's favorite Time Lord. Indeed, there is so much in the show's history, that I have no doubts that there will be plenty to talk about. For instance
Well, here we are, and, as the Doctor would be apt to say, "Allons-y, Alonso!"
I bid you all adieu.

I watched a lot of Dr. Who back in the late 70's and a little bit in the early 80's, and so the only doctor I'm really familiar with at all is the one played by Tom Baker, the 4th Doctor I think. I rather liked his quirkiness and sense of humor in the face of evil, and thought his scarf was awesomeness. I watched a few of the other doctors but Mr. Baker was never surpassed in my humble opinion.
I haven't seen a whole lot of the new episodes but the ones I have seen I've liked.

My dad loves this show. I watched like a really, really old episode and it look really weird. Maybe the new ones a better. Are they?
ah, Doctor Who. I love it. I'm definitely going to miss David Tennant as the 10th Doctor and I can only hope that the new kid will be just as good as the 11th Doctor. I'm also definitely looking forward to the next special, "The Waters of Mars" which has FINALLY been given an air date!
See the armies so arrayed,
Line on line, ten thousand strong.
See the Dragon King’s sharp blade,
Rising to a song!
See his enemies laid low!

Let glory crown the victor’s brow,
In the Hall of the Dragon King!
SL, I love Tom Baker. The 4th Doctor was always my favorite until I saw David Tennant as the current Doctor. He is pure awesomeness. He has Baker's quirkiness, humor, and fun, with a haunted twist that makes him all Tennant's own. Did you like Sarah Jane Smith as his companion? If so, you might like to see the episode "School Reunion", in which Tennant's Doctor comes across Sarah Jane, whom he knew in his "youth". Do you have a favorite Classic Who serial, by the by?
I'd heard that it was in November, Ellesar. What date is it?
What is everyone's favorite episode of the new series, of the old? For me, it is "School Reunion" in the new series, and "City of Death" in the classic series.
I bid you all adieu.

Nov. 15 is the UK air date. it'll air on BBC America in the US on Dec. 19. I'll probably be able to see it this month since I watch the show online
and I'm not sure what my favorite episode is... so far it might be Blink. or maybe some of the season finales...

Favorite episode: School Reunion
Has seen: All of the new series and a couple of Tom Baker episodes
Thanks for the heads up on the date Elle. I was wondering if we would get to see it any time this year or if we'd have to wait until next year to see the upcoming specials.
Reruns of the classic Doctor Who episodes were staples of our college days (along with original Trek) - so much so that when I first saw the BBC production of The Silver Chair my response upon seeing Puddleglum is "He's Doctor Who!" I still think of Tom Baker as the Doctor when watching the BBC SC.
So Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor is my favorite among the older series (not that I've seen all the episodes made).
But David Tennant makes a great Doctor too. And, like others have noted, "School Reunion" is my favorite episode among the most recent series.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

It's been many years but I do remember Sarah Jane. Of course I was still in my formative years and I thought K9 was the ultimate in sidekicks.
Again, it's been many years, but my favorite serials always had to do with the Daleks. "Exterrrrrrrrrminate!!!". I remember Davros being one pruny, ugly old geezer with the coolest looking wheelchair of all time. There were other episodes I really enjoyed as well, specifically there was one where the Doctor (Tom Baker) was on some spaceship and the crew was in stasis for some long voyage, and this icky blob creature was roaming around and either eating the crew or taking them over somehow. There was also another one where the Doctor squares off against some mummy looking creatures that would kill you by squishing you to death, which required two mummies sort of pinning the victim between their chests somehow.

I've found my new home!
I adore Doctor Who. One of these days I will venture into the realm of Classic Who, but since I am currently consumed with college I hardly have time to rewatch the new series anymore, let alone explore the Classic era.
I am excited about The Waters of Mars. Less than 2 weeks! It looks SO scary... I hope it's scarier than Blink and Midnight put together.
And I will miss the 10th Doctor. I LOVE David Tennant (big surprise). But I am sufficiently excited about Stephen Moffat's takeover and the new, mind-blowing directions he can take us in, minus that new logo. Yuck.
Oooh, good choice, Ellesar. Whilst it's not my favorite episode, I also love Blink.
I am so looking forward to the two part specials for Christmas, later in the US, unfortunately, .
Oh, man, SG, when I saw SC a few years back, I had the same reaction. He is such a brilliant actor, SC was almost worth it just to see him act the part. I loved the rest of the production (the only BBC Narnia movie I actually did like), but he was still the best part.
SL, I think the serial you are talking about is Ark in Space, but I could be wrong.
Sonic, I agree, the direction that Steven Moffat will take the series in has to be better than Davies. Don't get me wrong, Davies did a good job, but sometimes a bit too much of his personal ideas, and his infection of Mary Sues and Gary Stus would get into the show. Ah well, now we have better management yet.
SL made me think of asking this. Who is everyone's favorite villain. My all-time favorite villain is the Master. My minor favorite villain is the Principal played by Anthony Stewart Head in School Reunion. How about all of you?
I bid you all adieu.

The Krillitane Headmaster was AMAZING! He's one of my favorites.
Others I like include The Mighty Jagrafess of the Holy Hadrajassic Maxaradenfoe (just because I like saying the name; The Editor was creepier), The Wire ("Hungry!"), and the Midnight creature.
Of course the Master owns them all. He even owns the Cult of Skaro, and that's saying something.
Maybe with Steven Moffat at the helm they'll finally stop bringing the Daleks and Rose back every other episode.
The Master was a pretty awesome villain. I also love all the creatures Steven Moffat came up with, the Angels, the Vashta Narada, the freaky clockwork robots.
My personal favorite episodes of the new series are Blink and Human Nature/The Family of Blood, but Stephen Moffat's are on average the best. Of the old, I probably couldn't pick a favorite, but I enjoyed The Talons of Weng-Chiang, as I recall.
Has anyone ever seen this new actor, Matt Smith, in anything?
Should be interesting to see how they bring back the Master.
(Just updated my website with some new Doctor Who bases .)
I haven't seen him in anything, but Jints had awhile back. I wish I could remember what she said. I'm not sure if I'll like the change especially with the odd new logo.
