So, has everyone seen the trailer for the Monsters, Inc. prequel, Monsters University? On the Facebook Page for the film, they have four versions of it, and you can vote for which sleeptalking Mike line you enjoy best.
For those without Facebook, the lines are:
"My pony's on the Dean's list."
"My homework ate my dog."
"Hehe. Class president?"
And one which involves being in public without clothes.
Personally, I was torn between the first two (which are top and bottom left on the Facebook page). I think I ended up voting for the homework one. It's a fairly clever twist on a cliche.
"All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies. And when they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you..."

Saw Brave this afternoon. I liked it a lot. It felt like a cross between a Disney Princess movie and a Pixar film. I do wish they had kept the original title though. The Bear and the Bow is more fitting to the mood of the film.
The short before the film, La Luna isn't noteworthy in terms of story or animation, but it is a wee bit of whimsical nonsense that put me in a fairy tale mood.
The soundtrack is amazing. Scottish tunes mix with a few modern-sounding instruments to give a fantastical and historical, yet suitable for modern audiences sound. I already have favorite tracks picked out. One recurring theme nearly brought tears to my eyes when the reprise played. Then again, this is Patrick Doyle we're talking about. I probably didn't need to say how good it is.
The animation is beautiful. I saw it in 2D and it was a good experience. The landscape shots were amazing and the character animation was stunning (Merida's hair!).
There is a tag scene at the end. I laughed harder during that scene than at any point during the rest of the movie. Don't leave during the credits.
My only disappointment is the new Hobbit trailer didn't play before the showing I went to.
So, has everyone seen the trailer for the Monsters, Inc. prequel, Monsters University?
Yes, I'm actually looking forward to that one. The trailer looked really good. They used the "My homework ate my dog" line in the movie theater. I guess that's the one they decided to go with? Although I imagine they'll use all of them for TV spots.
Glad you liked the film, Dot. As is usual for me, I'll be waiting for the DVD release to watch Brave. But it's a DVD that I'm VERY eager for when it finally comes out.
As for the soundtrack album, it's a definite hit with me. The songs, both contemporary tunes and source singing, are great and actually do not detract from the score portion of the album. As for the score, it is simply wonderful. Doyle does a fantastic job mixing the LSO with his specialty instruments and giving the whole thing a very fresh, yet classic, sound.

^ Short tribute to James Horner (1953-2015)
I appear to have come in late, but I'll go ahead and answer the questions from the first page:
1. Which of the feature films have you seen? All of them.
2. Which of the short films have you seen? All of them.
3. Which of the feature films did you see first? I forget. It was either A Bug's Life or Toy Story 2.
4. Which of the short films did you see first? I think it was Geri's Game. Terribly confusing for my seven- year-old brain. Couldn't figure out what was going on.
5. Which is your favourite feature film? How about a top three list instead? Not necessarily in this order, Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles.
6. Which is/are your favourite short(s)? Presto(the bunny and the magician). Absolutely hilarious.
7. Which is your least favourite feature film? I have to yet to see one I didn't like, but the one I liked the least was.... You know what, I can't do it. Next question.
8. Which is your least favourite short? ....Next Question...
9. Are you looking forward to Brave? Why/why not? Yep, because it's Pixar. Some of the trailers concerned me that this might be their first bust, but I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
10. Anything in real life you've done/aspire to do that has been inspired by a Pixar movie? Such as an art project, a trip? (etc, or like, never given away your toys?) Not really, though I do remember trying to catch my toys walking around and talking after Toy Story.
11. Any special way a Pixar movie has touched your life? Wow, getting sentimental here, aren't we?
12. Do you look you for the Pixar staples? (John Ratzenberger in every film, the Pizza Planet Truck, A113) Have you found them/still looking for them all? I still haven't found the crazy Pizza Planet truck in Cars.
13. What are your favourite soundtracks by Pixar? Favourite Pixar composer? I'm not really a soundtrack guy(please don't shoot me )
My sisters saw Brave yesterday and said they enjoyed it. Alas, I was at work. I'm hoping to see it next weekend.
I only saw one variant of the Monsters University teaser(the one referencing being in public clothes ) Pixar has a way of showing next to nothing about a movie and still getting me absolutely pumped for it.
Mark my words, someday I will think of something brilliant to put in my sig.
It has been really fun to read this thread.
*answers the questions now*
1. Which of the feature films have you seen?
All except Brave.
2. Which of the short films have you seen?
All except Small Fry (:( I really want to see it; it looks cute), Lifted, and La Luna.
3. Which of the feature films did you see first?
Most likely A Bug's Life or Toy Story. I know we watched Toy Story when I was at least 2/3 and we have memorable experiences of that first viewing. but I also have strong recollections of A Bug's Life.
4. Which of the short films did you see first?
I remember Knick Knack as the first.
5. Which is your favourite feature film? (if such a question could be asked. ) I can't say. There's something in all the movies that I love, even the one I did not like, Cars 2. But for all the ones prior to Cars 2....it's hard to say. I really enjoy the animation in every single one, the poignancy, the storyline, the amazing and memorable characters. So I cannot say. I have favourites in categories for them. For me, Pixar's finest film is UP, animation-wise, plot-wise, character-wise, and content-wise. Everything just fit beautifully together and it's a movie that makes you cry but makes you laugh equally as hard. Monsters Inc. is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I can watch Cars over and over and over again and never get bored. And Finding Nemo makes me tear up at the most unlikely times. (like right after Marlin picks up Nemo's egg and says, "Don't worry, daddy's got you." and the camera pans up and the orchestra starts when the silvery moon is reflected in the water. )
6. Which is/are your favourite short(s)?
I'm going to say Partly Cloudy, Boundin' (which is both hilarious and lovely at the same time), and One Man Band (such brilliant music!) I also really like Dug's Special Mission (more Dug screen time! ).
7. Which is your least favourite feature film? (if such a question could be asked.)
Cars 2, though it has some enjoyable parts. (to be honest, Mater and Holley was what primarily ruined it for me, among some minor things) I really enjoy parts of it (such as the beginning, when Mater and Lightning travel for the first time, and definitely, definitely Finn McMissile ) I'll also say Ratatouille, even though I really enjoy many aspects of it. There was some character development and plotholes/plot turns that I wasn't really fond of.
8. Which is your least favourite short?
Knick Knack
9. Are you looking forward to Brave? Why/why not? Yes and no. Like Dot, I wish it was still called The Bear and the Bow because that sounds much more appropriate to the film's feel. I was following it and anticipating it because it's Pixar, but some things in the trailers and now in the plot trouble me. There's some content that's just so un-like what Pixar usually does. They have such a stellar standard... it's just sad to see it possibly get undone. (or at least so I feel) I'm praying and hoping it won't be that bad. Along with content, I'm concerned about character development and the roles that each family member plays. I was really concerned about I'm trying not to keep my expectations to high. I have no doubt that the animation and, in general, the visual aspects will be breathtaking.
I'm really, really, really looking forward to La Luna. The couple clips of it look so beautiful, and the music sounds fantastic.
10. Anything in real life you've done/aspire to do that has been inspired by a Pixar movie? Such as an art project, a trip? (etc, or like, never given away your toys?) Not especially. I know that when we watched Toy Story for the first time, everyone used Sid as an example to me to not play roughly with my toys. My parents and our househelp would often personify our dolls. After we finished watching Toy Story for the first time, my parents say that I was so shocked and not amused at the scene where the toys take revenge on Sid. I think I was convinced from then to never mistreat my toys. Cars and the route 66 mini-documentary on the special features of Cars has me convinced to travel the old Route 66 someday.
11. Any special way a Pixar movie has touched your life?
Well, in general, Pixar was the one studio that got me more interested in Film itself and inspired me to perhaps take it on in the future and pursue it further.
12. Do you look you for the Pixar staples? (John Ratzenberger in every film, the Pizza Planet Truck, A113) Have you found them/still looking for them all? I try to. I've found John Ratzenberger in all and A113 in several, but I have trouble with the Pizza Planet Truck.
13. What are your favourite soundtracks by Pixar? Favourite Pixar composer?
I think it's safe to say that I love them all, but especially Up, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo ("Nemo Egg: Main theme" and "Field Trip" ... ), and Wall-E (Fantasia reminded me -- "Define Dancing" is the definition of beautiful music)
Michael Giacchino is really excellent in all the stuff he's done for Pixar that i've heard, but I have to say that for me, my favourite composer of Pixar's scores is Thomas Newman. His stuff in Finding Nemo and WALL-E... they're just completely beautiful. The Incredibles' soundtrack by Giacchino is ... pwnage.

So, has everyone seen the trailer for the Monsters, Inc. prequel, Monsters University?
I saw one of them... not sure which one. I'm assuming the one mentioning a pony. I'd vote for "My homework ate my dog."
Dot, thanks so much for that review. It was really informative. I'm glad you liked it. I don't know if I'll be seeing it in theaters; I might, might not, but your review helped me look forward to it a bit.
Thanks for telling us not to leave the credits--I'll be sure to remember that if I go see it in theatres.
Wow, getting sentimental here, aren't we?
Monster's University is one I'm really, really looking forward to. I loved Monster's Inc and was thrilled when I heard that there would be a prequel.

I just got back from seeing Brave. I loved it!
I wonder what Merida did with all those bear carvings?
Those triplet brothers were hilarious. That poor lady-in-waiting . . .
The scenery was gorgeous. Scotland . . .
I also loved the fact that it got into the responsibilities of being a princess, and not just the 'twirling around in pretty outfits and marrying a prince' part.
I also liked that the daughter learned from her mother instead of vice versa. (Which is the way you normally see it in the movies.)

I saw Brave with friends this afternoon and echo many of the comments already made. Additional observations:
-Great music. I like Celtic music to begin with and this had a nice mixture of pipes and other traditional instruments, vocals, and Celtic-flavored 'regular' movie music.
-Plot:
I liked its focus on Elinor/Merida (mother/daughter) and reminded me of the father/son aspect of Finding Nemo.
-The animation on the whole was spectacular, and we commented on just how far Pixar (and technology) has come since the days of Toy Story.
-Humor:
-La Luna was fun enough but not among my favorite shorts.
-I do try to look for some of the Pixar staples; I had a lot of trouble catching John Ratzenberger's part.
We had the trailers for Monsters University (looks like fun!) and The Hobbit - goosebumps upon seeing and hearing it on the big screen.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
1. Which of the feature films have you seen?
Everything, except Brave.
2. Which of the short films have you seen?
All of them.
3. Which of the feature films did you see first?
Toy Story on video, sometime in 1996.
4. Which of the short films did you see first?
Geri's Game, and it's still my favorite.
5. Which is your favorite feature film?
I enjoy most of them. Probably The Incredibles or Monsters Inc. or WALL.E
6. Which is/are your favorite short(s)?
Geri's Game, For the Birds and Jack-Jack Attack
7. Which is your least favorite feature film?
Cars 2. It wasn't the disaster that many made it out to be, it was merely 'decent fun' and apparently that's a crime when it comes to Pixar movies.
8. Which is your least favorite short?
Boundin'. I don't know why, but I absolutely hated it. Tin Toy is a close second (the baby crept me out, and not in a good way).
9. Are you looking forward to Brave? Why/why not?
Yes, I always look forward to Pixar movies, although some more than others. I'll see it sometime within the next week or two.
10. Do you look you for the Pixar staples? (John Ratzenberger in every film, the Pizza Planet Truck, A113) Have you found them/still looking for them all?
Not consciously, but I do notice some of the Easter eggs in the movies.
11. What are your favorite soundtracks by Pixar?
I don't know that I've listened to any of the soundtracks separately from the movies, but I enjoy most of the music.
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
1. Which of the feature films have you seen?]
All of them, except Cars 2...which, from what I've heard, is probably for the best.
2. Which of the short films have you seen?
Probably about half of them...I've seen most of the more popular ones, and the ones before most of the movies (except the Hawaiian vacation one, which I heard is really good)
3. Which of the feature films did you see first?
It's a little hazy, but I'm pretty sure it was Toy Story 2 when it came out on VHS ( )
4. Which of the short films did you see first?
I think it was Knick Knack, which I still really like.
5. Which is your favourite feature film? (if such a question could be asked. )
I gotta say Monsters Inc., even though WALL-E comes in a very very close second, with Ratatouille and Finding Nemo tying in an equally close 3rd. I had to think about that for a while though...that's a really difficult question! There are so many different things I love about each movie.
6. Which is/are your favourite short(s)?
Knick Knack, For the Birds, One Man Band, Lifted, Your Friend the Rat (I've had pet rats, so it was interesting to learn a lot about them), Presto, and Partly Cloudy and ones that I really like. I also liked Boundin', and thought La Luna was very charming and sweet.
7. Which is your least favourite feature film? (if such a question could be asked. )
Since I haven't seen Cars 2, I'll have to say Brave on this one. It was the first Pixar film I just kinda liked, and didn't really think was brilliant.
8. Which is your least favourite short?
All the ones I've seen I've liked, so I don't really know...maybe Jack Jack Attack? I still liked it, but not quite as much as the others I've seen.
10. Anything in real life you've done/aspire to do that has been inspired by a Pixar movie? Such as an art project, a trip? (etc, or like, never given away your toys?)
I definitely had the toy problem! You just never know...
11. Any special way a Pixar movie has touched your life?
Not particularly...I mean, the movies are fantastic and will stay with me forever, but not in any particularly special way. Though I am really inspired at how they make movies that all ages can enjoy and relate too. One of my favorite Walt Disney quotes is "Over at our place, we're sure of just one thing: everybody in the world was once a child. So in planning a new picture, we don't think of grown-ups, and we don't think of children, but just of that fine, clean, unspoiled spot down deep in every one of us that maybe the world has made us forget and that maybe our pictures can help recall." - I think Pixar has done the best job of any modern company to fulfill that.
12. Do you look you for the Pixar staples? (John Ratzenberger in every film, the Pizza Planet Truck, A113) Have you found them/still looking for them all?
I think I know who John Ratzenberger is in all of them, and I've seen a few of the others, but I'm still looking for a lot of them.
13. What are your favourite soundtracks by Pixar? Favourite Pixar composer?
I generally love all the main themes, but a few that stick out are Toy Story (of course!), Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Finding Nemo. The music in Brave was really good as well. Oh, and Married Life from Up is one of my favorite tracks of all time. My favorite composer has to be Michael Giacchino; he has this really special knack for making the music match the movie (like how the Incredibles music sounded superhero-ish, and the Ratatouille music was very French).
A few weeks ago my family discovered the local drive-in theater so I may go see Brave there.
That's so cool! I've never been to a drive-in, but I've always wanted to.
There is a tag scene at the end. I laughed harder during that scene than at any point during the rest of the movie. Don't leave during the credits.
I missed that, but one of my friends told me about it and it sounded hysterical! I completely forgot that she
Just like everyone else, I'm really looking forward to Monsters University. I hope it's great!
I saw Brave about a week ago, and I was actually slightly disappointed. It wasn't a bad movie by any standards, but it wasn't anything like what I was expecting.

I just need to ask, as I have already seen a couple posts on here about Brave--How was Brave, really? I mean, not just in standards of Pixar, but when you walked in what made you think, "Wow.. I did not just get a ticket for this movie..." or what bothered you i.e.: things left unsolved (both morality or plot-wise) and what made you think, "This is not so bad..."?
Just wondering.
Thanks everyone who saw it for posting their thoughts!

Every time I think of a quote or witty comment to put here, the quote is not so spectacular and the comment is not so witty.
Why don't you just watch the movie for yourself? It's best to go into some movies knowing very little.

I think she's trying to decide whether she wants to see the movie at all.
I'm hopefully going to go see Brave soon. A friend offered to take me. I look forward to finding out what I think about it. It looks very different from other Pixar movies I've seen.

Ok, just jumping in here to pop a random question.
Is it just me, or did anyone else KNOW the main surmise of the film
So having known the plot of this film well in advance made it for a different viewing (because Pixar tends to keep things like plot under wraps) but it wasn't bad. The animation was stunning and the story was good too! I liked it.
Definitely agreed there, Gymfan. Knowing the main plot point altered how I watched the movie.
Consequently, things like the scenery and the music, rather than the plot, were what I enjoyed most.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
