Sorry I disappeared for a few days there, guys! Real life got in the way.
But I'm back now, and ready to continue with our discussion!
Before I add more of my thoughts on the finale (some of which I was reminded of when reading LE's post), I'll respond to a few other things. Sound good? Great!
Well, the only reason I asked about the extra features on the entire boxset was because my computer is just not wanting to accept links right now, so I couldn't see any of the details
Aww!!
(not unless I read it really fast and that's just not one of my super abilities ).
Wow, thanks for the laugh!! But I get what you mean. I can't speed read either. (how useful would that be?!) I do have super hearing, though... on a smaller scale. (like, I can't hear things a block away or halfway around the world, like Clark can. But I can generally hear anything going on in whatever building I'm in... especially if it's a smaller one)
Anyway, here is what it says on that link...
Over 5 hours of newly added special features including a 90 minute series retrospective with all-new interviews, the never-before-aired 1961 Superboy pilot, 2010 final Comic Con panel and more!
Exclusive issue of the Daily Planet created by DC Comics.
It's definitely worth checking out .
So I take it you've heard it, then? Awesome! I'll put that toward the top of my "want list" in my head. Only thing is, I get iTunes gift cards so rarely... it could be a long time before I get a chance to hear it.
I'm glad your party went well!
.....................................
Ok, now with that out of the way, we can go back to talking about the finale!
1)
I miss the fact that we didn't see more of the heroes in the finale. With such a big disaster looming, one would think we would see them helping out or getting more of a mention. Not to mention seeing them throughout the season. I won't complain though because the show was only two hours long, so you can't really fit everybody in.
True, with only two hours, it'd be hard to get everybody in. And like you, I was sad we didn't see more of them during the season, and finale. I was wondering "If Lois and Clark are getting married, why are Chloe and Oliver the only heroes there? Didn't most, if not all, of them show up for the funerals we've had?" But then it hit me (mainly because of something one of the characters said... I want to say it was Chloe or Oliver). They couldn't be there because they were saving lives so Clark wouldn't have to interrupt his special day. Sure, once it was interrupted anyway, I would have at least liked to zoom to where they were in quick flashes to see them combating evil. But I suppose that's where the "it's only two hours" thing comes in.
And like I said in an earlier post... we're lucky we had them for the amount of episodes we did. They didn't have to bring those characters into the plot, but they did. So, even though I'd have liked to have seen them more... it's nice we had them for as long as we did.
You know what would probably never happen, but would be really cool if it did? If they'd have a spin-off show, centered around the Justice League! But I understand that it's been ten years, and a lot of these actors might want to move on to other projects or to other things. I just think it'd be fun and funny if they did that. If they ever did, I'd prefer they stuck with these actors, though... but I'd probably watch it regardless.
2)
I also didn't like the fact that the villians seemed to have a really quick demise. The three masterminds are taken out real quick by Green Arrow and Clark quickly desposes of Darksied. These villians were really pronounced throughout the season, so I was hoping for something a little more in fighting them.
That's a good point, it was kind of quick. However, as much as it seemed too easy, I couldn't help cheering and thinking it was uber cool when Oliver took out those bad guys. As for Clark vs Darkseid... are you sure it was quick? I thought that took awhile... like, a lot of the episode. But I could be remembering wrong... I mean, it's been almost a week.
3)
It's just a perfect comparison, Clark tends to stay calm in character while Lex is more urgent and fiery in action. It's a perfect analogy.
Wow, I hadn't thought of it like that! Then again, I was probably so focused on the coolness of how they did it... and so mad they didn't show Ryan* in the clips for Clark, that it didn't occur to me to dissect it.
*I always felt he had quite the impact on Clark. And so when they are showing all these important moments in his journey, to not have clips or a repeat (through voice-over) of something Ryan said, just frustrated me. But that could be just me.
And I agree, having both Jor-El and Jonathan there to encourage him and give him the suit was really super cool!
4)
I was very sad to see Tess killed by Lex. I must say that Tess really grew on me as a character, even when she was playing the villian. I loved watching her character arc, so I was very upset to see her demise. At least she was able to do one last good deed before the end by erasing Lex's memories.
Ohhh, yes. I was so furious and sad about that! I mean, despite the fact that it was hard to define on which side she stood half the time... she was a compelling and well-written character. And I cheered when she told Granny Goodness that she was on the good side. I felt it ironic that Green Arrow was under the bad guys' influence, but Tess... a LUTHOR, was on the good side and never wavered.
And when did she learn to fight the way she did in the lab?! I knew she was a good fighter, but WHOA!
My point is, I share your pain.
I'm sure I have even more thoughts, but it's been awhile since friday, and I'm starting to forget things. Maybe someday, after I see it again, we could talk more. Or maybe something someone says will jog a memory. But I guess for now, we'll have to stick with talking about older ones. Does that work?
Where'd everyone else go? I know they didn't see the finale, but this thread isn't just for that! This thread will die and get closed if people don't start talking soon. Besides, it's beginning to feel like it's just me again... and I don't wanna do all the talking!
p.s. Sorry for the outrageous amount of smilies in these posts. Sometimes it's hard to contain myself... or find the right way to express something without them.
Thanks for the boxset update PA . You'll have to let me know what the special features are really like when your set arrives. As for my comment on the final episode
I'm betting I'll have more before this thread is over.

LE- Don't worry, I will. I mean, this thread won't be open anymore by then, but I'd be happy to pm you.
As for talk of the finale...
1) Re your latest comments:
As for the whole "flying" thing... I don't really buy that that was the first time. I know they all say it was. But to be honest, there are some saves he did in the earlier seasons that I swear couldn't be done if he didn't fly. (take Lana in the tornado in season one, for example) It just doesn't make sense. I mean, sure, he was afraid of flying the whole time... but they can't really argue that that was the first. I mean, earlier in season ten we even see him and Lois fly in the virtual world, for crying out loud! But that's my opinion... and I'm not perfect, I could be wrong. I'm just saying that's the way my mind's logic works... something doesn't add up.
2) Ok, so Thursday night they played the finale again!!! I missed the first 20 or so minutes because I was at the playhouse. But I was happy I got to see it again! I was worried I'd have to wait til fall when my boxset got here!
Anyway, just like the first time I saw it, I think one of my favourite scenes is
I have to say it was interesting seeing it again, knowing what was coming... and looking for the things you had commented on. That was really fun! Too bad we can't watch it together.
Ok, I have things to do, but I'll be back later!
(sorry if this post was at all jumbled. I'm trying to multi-task, and I don't know if my brain is making sense)
Yes, I see what you are saying about the
I have to say it was interesting seeing it again, knowing what was coming... and looking for the things you had commented on. That was really fun! Too bad we can't watch it together.

I know. That would be a whole lot of fun to be able to watch the episode at the same time together.
And well, while it's on my mind, other personal favorite episodes (I cannot remember names, so this may be incorrect):
Pilot, the first appearance of Zatanna and "Warrior", "Red", "Bizzaro", and quite possibly all the excitement of the finale of season 9 all through season 10.

Welcome to the thread, Milana!
How long have you been a fan? And which episodes and characters are your favourites, and why?
I see what you guys are saying. Hmm... maybe this is a sign I have to watch all of these over again?
As for the end:
*wonders when it'll come on tv again*
I'm kinda bored at the moment. Would it be too silly to find "Justice" online and watch it? Maybe it'd give me ideas of other topics to talk about.
Do you guys have anything you'd like to discuss? I know I want to talk about the show, but exactly what I want to say... isn't coming to mind.
(again, sorry for the over excessive amount of smilies. I'm a hopeless case. haha!)
I love Chloe. I was so upset they got rid of her for half the season, and only forgave them because they brought in Tess instead (well, yes, she was there before. but she wasn't part of the team). as I said before, I love Tess too.
I like any season that involves the rest of the Justice League in action. and Kara. I liked her arguments with Clark. it's very family-like, and something he doesn't get from anyone else. I mean, everyone else is trying to figure out his powers just like him and they do their best to help him but they don't really know what it's like to have these powers, but Kara is like him and her reaction to his powers are more like "well, you should be able to do that!". I loved the way she asked him (in the first episode she appeared) "remind me why you can't defy gravity?"
a few months ago I decided to check something from back in season 3, and ended up watching the first 6 seasons (which I had only seen pieces of because I only got interested in the show in season 7). that's why I remember little bits like him waking up hovering back in season 1.

I have to agree with you Milana (I do believe we see Smallville in the same way ). I too was very upset that Chloe was missing for most of season 10. I couldn't really figure out why (yes, story wise I get it, but she's been here throughout the entire series, so I didn't really understand it in that sense). But, like you, I was still okay with it because I also really like Tess as a character. Heck, I was even drawn to her character when she was playing the "villian". I also have to agree with you on episodes with the Justie League and Kara. They are probably my favorites as well.
Hmm, I didn't quite see it as

Does anyone else find it funny that most of us prefer the times the rest of the Justice League are involved?
I mean, I love them too... don't get me wrong. I just find it funny that the vast majority of favourite seasons and/or episodes involve the other superheroes. True, some (if not, most) of my favourite episodes include them. But I also have liked the episodes (and seasons 1-3) where they didn't appear.
Maybe I'm just biased in favour of the whole show. I mean, it's one of my favourites ever... and is about my favourite superhero! Plus, it's hard not to get attached to something when you've followed it for a decade.
It's been really fun for me to see it evolve from the "meteor-freak-of-the-week" formula of the high school years, to the adult years working at the Daily Planet.
-I liked that in the early seasons we got to see him learn about his heritage and powers. And to explore his friendship with Lex before it went sour. (though, if you ask me, Lex wasn't always a great friend.
-In the middle seasons, we started meeting the other JLA members individually (starting with Bart in season 4), as well as seeing them work together. And the episodes were more in a continued story arc, vs the early seasons' "new thing each week". We also had that whole sub-plot with Lana and the stones.
-The last few seasons, though, were definitely the most gripping. Seasons 8-10 had me on the edge of my seat most weeks... and were full of jaw dropping moments. This last season especially, reminded me more of the rest of the Superman mythos (whether comics, tv, or film). There were so many nods to those things, that even though I don't know as much about those, I recognised enough to go "THAT IS SOOOOO COOL!!!!" or "I had wondered how they'd tie that in... interesting!"
Anyway, as I've said in another post, it'd be cool if they ever decided to make a spin-off show about the Justice League (in general, though I'd prefer if it had these actors). I know I'd watch it!
Sorry if this was just me rehashing things I've said before. I'm not trying to sound like a broken record (gosh, I hate that!). But hopefully I've said something new, or at the very least, expanded on something I've already said.
...................................
Sorry for the length of this post!
And please, give us something to discuss! I feel like we're beginning to repeat ourselves... and that would mean "bye-bye thread"! (because it would die out. not to mention, I haven't thought up just how to close this thing yet... want more time )
Lion's Emblem,
Princess Anna, I think Clark is ok, but he's pretty much a repeat of himself: lets zoom in at the last second, save the victims and then proceed to put the really bad guys where they can't do any harm, and convince the not-so-bad guys that they should really be good. the Justice League has a little more "color"-they don't stick as much to being goody-goody (like, they give in to their anger) so that's why they make things a little more interesting.
I also really liked Tess & Oliver while it lasted (in particular when she started throwing knives at him when she found out he was Green Arrow )

Well, I'm not against the earlier seasons. I did enjoy seeing the extent of Lex and Clark's relationship (I did always wonder how and when things went 180) and how Clark earned some of his powers. However, some episodes were just a little too "wall of weird" for me. I don't think I can ever watch such episodes as "Metamorphosis" or "Craving" again without being creeped out (and I can usually take a lot).
I suppose I prefer the later seasons because that's where I joined the show. Not to mention there's more of the Superman character that I know, only still evolving. We still see Clark learning, but he has grown up. I agree PA, about seasons eight through ten. I especially enjoyed the climax of the last few episodes of season nine (
I don't know if I'd want to see a spinoff show done. Personally, I prefer where we are invited in to see just moments in characters lives. If they really are detailed and "believable" characters, then we know that they've had a life before the moments we've seen and we know they are going to have lives after what we see. I much prefer thinking about what would happen rather than seeing it.

Attention!!!!
I wanted you to know that I will be closing this thread sometime over the next day or so, so if you have any parting thoughts... or never got to post originally and want to, now's your chance!
Sorry I let this drop off into oblivion for awhile... I was super ( ) busy! But I'm back now, and owe it to everyone to close this thread, to make room for more special features. (and also because I don't want to try the patience of my fellow mods ) So, I thought I'd give a heads up. Let me know if you'd like me to ask the SO mods about reopening it once the boxset becomes available in the fall!
Anyway, thanks for a great discussion... and making this thread last longer than any thread I've created! That was really cool, and meant a lot to me. (since this is a well loved topic for me)
As I said before, I'll make my closing comments very soon.
See ya around!
~PA
*looks at the date on last post* *notices also that it's a double post* AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( )
Sorry, guys! But I'm here now to take care of this once and for all. Yeah, yeah... I know I've said that before. But I mean it this time.
...........................
When trying to think of how to close this thread, my words kept getting jumbled. I think that's part of the reason it took me this long. Also, it's just hard to see the thread and show go. Anyway, I finally realised that the problem, is that I've said so much in this thread, that I've run out of things to say. (that I said all that I needed to, already) I would have just ended it, then... but it didn't seem right to close it with no parting remarks. So, here is the solution I came up with:
I'll let the show itself, say what I cannot. I don't know if you'd have picked the same quotes I will. And there are so many more I could pick. But here are a few, that seem to fit the occasion. Hope it's alright with you that I did it this way! And thanks again for sticking with me for this long!
................................
Lana; Pilot:
So, what are you... man or Superman?
Chloe; in the Finale, Part 1:
"This is the story of an amazing boy who grew up in the fields of Kansas in a little town called Smallville. When he became a man, he believed the only way to seize his destiny was to turn his back on both his parents and refused to see the darkness descending on Earth. But all that was about to change. He was about to face his greatest challenge."
Clark, at the end of a "talk" with his dad (at his dad's grave); Finale, Part 1:
It's like I'm on a cliff standing on the edge, and where I'm looking is beyond where you've been before, it's beyond than Jor-El has ever been before. And much as I value everything you've given me, I need to go beyond where either of you can guide me anymore, to be the hero the world needs me to be.
Showdown with Lex; Finale, Part 2:
Lex: But that's the thing about memories -- you can't forget them. Like how you're always one step ahead of me, Clark. No matter how meticulously I prepared, no matter how strategic I was, if only I'd known I never stood a chance.
Clark: It wasn't a competition.
Lex: Of course it wasn't. You were born to be the chosen one. You're simply better than us.
Clark: And that always killed you.
Lex: No. No, what killed me is that you didn't even want it. You fought it -- you hid from it! I would have taken it and relished it, embraced it.
Clark: My destiny wasn't yours to take!
Lex: I get that now. Which is why I finally embraced my own. You and I...we will both be great men. Because of each other, we have a destiny together, Clark...only on different sides.
Clark: I'll always be there to stop you. Always.
Lex: Oh, I'm counting on it.
Clark, of his life up until this point; Finale, Part 2:
Clark: These were my trials.
Jor-El: Your final trial is upon you, my son. You are ready. Seize your destiny.
Right before the transformation into superman; Finale, Part 2:
Jor-El: Your journey has come to an end, Kal-El.
Clark: I shouldn't have tried to push away my Kryptonian side. My strength is accepting it -- accepting you.
Jor-El: You honor me. A father's pride cannot be measured in words, but know that I'm proud of you, son.
Clark: You have no idea how long I've waited to hear you say that.
Jor-El: We have been down our long road, Kal-El -- one paved with difficult trials. Those trials are behind you now. Any father can only hope that he is one day humbled by the feats of his son. But it is your soul, Kal-El, of which I am most proud. You -- and you alone -- possess the courage, the determination, and the compassion that will be required of you to lift the darkness from the Earth. (returns the suit to Clark) I ask you to remember one thing. Your abilities may be of my blood, but it is your time in Smallville, with Jonathan and Martha Kent and all the people there, that made you a hero, Kal-El.
Jonathan: Always hold on to Smallville. (hands the suit over to Clark)
The (almost) very end; Finale, Part 2:
Chloe: "And that was the day the boy turned into Superman."
Chloe's son: Wow. Read it again, please.
Chloe: Oh. There will always be more adventures for another day.
............................
Luckily for us, we can relive all of those adventures from the beginning. And also, the story doesn't end there... as we all know. As it says in Narnia's The Last Battle, and this is a paraphrase: "All this was just the cover and the title page."
And, to repeat something I quoted in another post...
This isn't the end of the story, Clark. It's just the beginning. Come on, boys. Let's go save the world. -Oliver Queen (Justice, Season Six)
