[Closed] 2010: expectations?

So ... what are your expectations, desires, and wishes for 2010? For the '10s [if Jesus tarries ;) ]? And I'm referring to yourself [physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially], your family and friends, your nation and the world, and Narnia [franchise, cast and crew, etc]. Of course, none of us are prophets, are we? We can't see into the future. But I'm sure we're all still curious. :)

I really sense that 2010 will be different! It won't be like this year or even the '00s combined. I have great expectations for a world revival [but especially in the US and UK! ], possibly for Jesus to return, and maybe even for some big changes in the land of Narnia: the franchise, the salvation of certain cast and crew... ;) And I think that when the Dawn Treader premiere arrives next December, we'll all be saying to ourselves, "What a difference a year makes!"

Am I the only one who senses this? That 2010 really WILL be different? :-s

I really pray for a revival in the UK! It needs one. And for people of all places to hear God's call.
And personally,I hope 2010 will be a better year, I hope for good exam results and good pathways to take. And that 2010 will be more exiting and interesting because the last decade has been 'dead' in my life.

I'm really hoping to get my college application done by the end of 2010.
Plus I'm super excited about VDT!

Other than that, I have no idea what will happen.

So when is Jesus meant to return? or do you just want him to?

I think the 20 10's are going to be better for me. Thtas just a guess because they could be worse. I finish highschool in that decade(2012).

Nobody knows when Jesus is going to return. We can only follow the signs in the prophecies and pray we recognize them when they come. The Jews failed for Jesus' birth, even though all the prophecies essentially indicated exactly how and in what conditions he would come. To me it doesn't matter when Jesus comes in terms of exact times because I am ready for it.

As for next year and beyond, I don't know what to expect. In near 20 years of missions experience, one thing has been taught: don't have expectations, at least in terms of specifics. You never know what's going to happen. But the Bible has a very simple verse to keep in mind: "Man makes his plans, but God directs his steps." I have some plans, but how God's going to carry out my steps, we'll just see.

I have one and a half years to go until I graduate with my bachelor's in Computer Science (May 2011). I don't know what God has in store for me after that, but I am getting closer. I am going to close out 2009 at Urbana (see the thread I started for that) and God could show me my next step there. In May 2010, I am targeting going to a writer's conference so I can hopefully find another contact or direction for my novel that is ready to publish. Beyond that, I really don't know what's on my plate. I'm just going to enjoy the ride while God has me on it.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

I hope I get accepted into the university I applied for, and I hope I get an internship in the summer. I also hope I'm able to keep my grades up there.
Physically I expect to increase my running distance and strength as the year goes by.
For the rest of the '10s, I'm expecting to graduate with a bachelor's in science and then start work in a hospital. And of course move out. Very exciting ;)

Thanks for the replies, guys! :) So what about your nation and the world? Do you have a spiritual vision? B-)

Fencer: no, we don't know when Jesus will return. And I don't have specific plans. But I do have expectations. Thanks for the verses. :)

Well,I have a lot of hopes for the '10s.
Probably my biggest hope is to win a full scholarship to Liberty University next fall(or the next). The contest is done through my favorite local radio station, and only open to high-school juniors and seinors. I really want to attend Liberty.
I also want to work on my many stories that I've started, but never had the oppourtunity to finish.
And I'd like to sing at this thing my area does every year on the 4th of July. I'm too young to enter the actual contest, but I'd still like to sing there, even though it's only country music.
And I'd like to find a descent,Christian, affordable guitar teacher. I've always wanted to play guitar, but have had to put that dream on hold due to a lack of descent,Christian, affordable music teachers in my area.
There's more but I'll have to look in some old notebooks to find them.

For my nation and the world? Well I'd like the US to stay secure and continue to hunt down terrorists. For the world, I hope not to see any new threats to my country, and an eradication of terrorism.

Spiritually? I want probably what every believer wants, to discover more about God and continue to pursue his heart.

Well,I'd really like a spiritual revival among the teens/young adults of...anywhere really. I'm not picky about where it happens. But I know my area in the US could really use one.

Interesting! Have you visited Liberty? Have you been to Thomas Road Baptist? I have, lots of times! It's a great church. It's MY church. :D

Amen! :)

Thanks for the posts!

I hope 2010 is a good year since it is the year I graduate high school and move onto college to continue my education. It's a huge step and VDT! I think VDT will be as great as LWW was and can't wait. For other things, I hope the whole economic crisis turns around and this swine flu scare disappears. So yeah 2010 will be different for sure but I think it will be a really good year for everyone.

I hope 2010 brings me the ability to drive without endangering the rest of the road. (Sorry, that was kind of random.)
