^ I don't know if that is because of the movies. Narnia is thought to be a rip off of the LotR, so maybe they assume the books are that way too.

I can't stand it when people always say that they're looking for narnia in their closets. I mean, yes, the Pevensies got to Narnia through the wardrobe, but that doesn't mean that you have to use every dresser, wardrobe, or closet as your ticket to a trip to Narnia. There are five other ways the children got there, and no one ever mentions the rings, or the painting....

Yes I know it was the first written but its still not the first book of the series, now when read in proper order you read The Magicians Nephew first.

No Katana, it is best to read LWW first because it was supposed to be the first story, although I like to read them in chronological order now that I have read them multiple times, the LWW is much better read first.
^^ Which order is best to read is a matter of opinion. Some prefer chronological. Others prefer publication. There's nothing wrong with a person liking one over the other, either way. C. S. Lewis didn't design the order ahead of time -- when he wrote a book, he didn't know he was going to write more. The order was not designed purposely, and so it doesn't really matter. He said himself that you can read them in any order that you like.
One of my pet-peeves is when people get angry at Lewis when they see there is an "adult version". They think it means he put bad content in it. Of course, all the adult versions really are are versions without pictures...

I get annoyed when people act like Narnia is just for children. Sure the target audience is children, but adults can enjoy the books too. Also there is a lot of depth to the books that few children notice.

I had no idea that even existed! I wouldn't want an adult version anyhway. I love the pictures.

I know what you mean but I must say that Tolkien definitely did put a lot more time and thought into Middle-Earth than Lewis did Narnia.
I think it also has to do with the fact that the Chronicles are more or less geared toward children that they are to adults, though adults can enjoy them too.
That is why we love both stories: LotR is dark and pre-history and needs info, Narnia is light and cheery. Personally I love both, they are NOT copies!!

When people watch the movies and think they know everything about Narnia without having read the books
Goodness that is the worst!! Especially because the movies are so different from the books. I know some people that thought that C.S. Lewis was a woman!!! *UUGHH* It bothers me when people don't know things in general; I guess I am a Narnian snob.

Oh no, you're not a snob. I think everyone feels that way about the things they love, and why shouldn't they? If something is close to your heart, and you see someone almost wreck it with ignorance, you can't help feeling a little twist inside.
A lot of times it's the other people who are the snobs -- the people who have only seen the movies and then go up to someone who has read the books, and act like they know everything in front of them. When that happens, a lot of times they are just feeling guilty that they haven't read the books too.

When people call Lewis sexist for the whole Susan thing, without looking any further into it. Its like they have a double standard. If it had happened to one of the guys, they wouldn't care, but since it happened to one of the girls, he has to be sexist. Because any male writer who has anything bad happen to a female character must hate women. Grrrrr.
This sort of thing really annoys me too. It also irks me when people seem to think Susan was prevented from going to Aslan's Country as well, when she actually wasn't because she didn't die. She wasn't at the train station with the others, so she wasn't killed, which therefore still gives her a chance to go to Aslan's Country when she dies if she learns to believe in Aslan again.

And I hate it when christians who don't know the first thing about the Chronicles attacked them as witchcraft and occultism and whatnot.
And what gets me really mad is when they start saying that C. s. Lewis was never a christian, and no christian should ever read his writings.
People just hear the word magic and go all off the deep end.
Exactly!! I have one friend who even thought of writing a book or blog post series about the evils of Narnia, and how it's full of witchcraft and false religions, and how C. S. Lewis was a vile, immoral man, and all that, and this girl hasn't even read any of the books!! (How can you argue against something you know next to nothing about??) Grrr.....
Another annoying thing is when one friend, after seeing the trailer, exclaimed, "But what's with this star girl? Caspian's not supposed to marry her, he's supposed to marry Susan!" She hasn't read the books either.
"Lucy, have you seen this ship before?"
"Yes! It's very Narnian-looking, isn't it?"
I hate it when people exclaim "But where are Peter and Susan?!" even if they profess to have watched the films or read the books. This is explored in detail in both book and movie, and is quite a major point in both!
I also hate it when people write off the Chronicles for children, and mercilessly make fun of anyone who enjoys them. *sigh*

when people tell me that the white witch was a copy of voldemort because he was called the dark lord, or they try to tell me narnia was a rip off of hp because of magical people.
Most of us, I suppose, have a secret country but for most of us it is only an imaginary country. Edmund and Lucy were luckier than other people in that respect. Their secret country was real.
